What's Required for Installation

You will need the following tools:

How the System Works

The Video Doorbell system consists of two main components: the video doorbell unit installed at your porch and an electronic chime unit plugged into an indoor power socket. The video doorbell is powered by existing doorbell wires. To ensure sufficient power from the doorbell circuit, users need to bypass the existing doorbell chime on the circuit.

Diagram description: A house illustration shows the eufy Video Doorbell mounted on the exterior wall near the front door. An indoor power socket is depicted with the eufy Doorbell Chime plugged into it. A wire connects the doorbell to the chime unit, illustrating the system's power and communication flow.

EufySecurity App Installation

Search for "EufySecurity" on the App Store or Google Play and install the app on your smartphone.

App store icons for 'Download on the App Store' and 'Get it on Google Play' are displayed.

After installing, register and log in to the app. Add your video doorbell and scan the QR code for the installation process. The QR code can be found on the back of the documentation folder or on the back of the video doorbell itself.

Tips: Follow these steps to complete the setup: 1. Scan the QR Code. 2. Physical installation. 3. Go to the App and finish the system setup.

Video Doorbell Installation

Note: Ensure you have installed the EufySecurity App and scanned the QR code before starting the physical installation of the doorbell.

Step 1: Locate Existing Chime

Ring your existing doorbell to confirm it is working. Locate the position of your existing doorbell chime(s) within your house.

Step 2: Power Off

Shut off the power supply to your doorbell. If you are unsure, shut off the main power supply to your house. Test by turning lights on/off to confirm the electricity is properly shut off.

Illustration description: A circuit breaker panel is shown with a switch in the 'OFF' position, indicating the power supply should be shut off.

Note: Always be cautious when handling electrical wiring. If you are not comfortable performing this task, consult a qualified electrician.

Step 3: Bypass Existing Doorbell Chime

Locate your doorbell chime unit. Remove its cover and find the screw terminals labeled 'TRANS' and 'FRONT'. Use the provided jumper to connect these two terminals. This bypasses the chime and will not affect the circuit's normal operation.

Diagram description: A doorbell chime is shown with terminals labeled 'TRANS' and 'FRONT'. A jumper is depicted connecting these two terminals to bypass the chime.

Notes:

What are required:

Step 4: Remove Old Doorbell Button

Remove the existing doorbell button from your front door. Carefully pull out the two wires while removing the old unit. Straighten the wire ends if necessary.

Illustration description: A hand is shown removing an old doorbell button from a wall, with wires extending from the wall.

What's required:

Step 5: Determine Mounting Position

Consider the following factors when determining the mounting position:

  1. Check if existing holes and anchors on the wall or door frame can be reused.
  2. If drilling new mounting holes, the recommended mounting height is 48 inches (1.2m) from the ground.

If mounting on a wooden wall or board, do not drill holes. Skip to Step 7 and use screws directly to mount the bracket. If your wall is stucco, brick, or concrete, you will need to drill holes. Use the Screw Hole Positioning-Card to mark the positions and drill holes with a 1/4" (6.35mm) drill bit.

Diagram description: Illustrations show mounting the video doorbell on a wall. One shows a standard mounting height of 48 inches (1.2m) from the ground. Another shows the optional use of a 15° mounting wedge to adjust the viewing angle.

What are required:

Optional: Use the 15° mounting wedge as a supplementary mounting bracket if you wish to see more on a specific side.

Step 6: Install Anchors (If Necessary)

Use the provided anchors when installing into materials such as stucco, brick, or concrete. Anchors are not needed if installing on a wooden doorframe.

Illustration description: Wall anchors are shown being inserted into a wall, typically for mounting into stucco, brick, or concrete.

What's required:

Step 7: Mount the Bracket

Lead the two doorbell wires through the central square hole on the mounting bracket before mounting. Insert the two provided screws through the screw holes (or through the 15° mounting wedge, if used, after attaching the bracket to the wedge) and fasten them tightly.

Diagram description: Illustrations show the mounting bracket being attached to the wall, either directly or with the 15° mounting wedge. Screws are shown securing the bracket.

What are required:

Step 8: Connect Wires to Doorbell

Connect the wires to the two terminals on the back of the doorbell and tighten the terminal screws. Wires can be connected to either terminal as the electric current is alternating current.

Illustration description: Shows the wires from the wall being connected to the terminals on the back of the eufy Video Doorbell. Another diagram shows extension wires and wire nuts being used to extend short wires.

Note: To prevent short-circuiting, ensure the wires do not touch each other after connecting them to the terminals. If the wires are too short, use the provided extension wires and wire nuts to lengthen them. Use electrical wiring tape to secure the connection if there isn't enough space for wire nuts.

What are required:

Step 9: Attach Doorbell and Detach Pin

There are two thermal conductive pads on the mounting bracket to conduct heat from the video doorbell to the metal bracket. Remove the protective films from these pads before mounting the doorbell.

Hook the doorbell onto the top of the mounting bracket, then snap the bottom of the doorbell into the bracket. You should hear a "click" sound.

To detach the doorbell from the mounting bracket, use the provided doorbell detaching pin. Press and hold the round hole on the bottom of the doorbell, then lift its bottom to remove it. The detaching pin has a magnet pad on its black-colored side; stick it on an iron surface for easy access.

Diagram description: Illustrations show the video doorbell being hooked onto the mounting bracket and then snapped into place. Another shows the doorbell detaching pin being used to remove the doorbell by pressing a hole at the bottom.

Note: The oval holes are speaker holes. Only press the round hole to detach the doorbell.

What's required:

Step 10: Power On

Switch the doorbell or master circuit breaker to the 'ON' position.

Illustration description: A circuit breaker switch is shown in the 'ON' position.

Step 11: Connect to Wi-Fi

Wait until the doorbell ring flashes yellow. Then, follow the on-screen instructions in the EufySecurity App to connect the video doorbell to your home Wi-Fi network.

Image description: The eufy Video Doorbell is shown with a yellow flashing light, indicating it is ready for setup.

Step 12: Pair Chime

Follow the on-screen instructions in the EufySecurity App. Install the doorbell power connector to the doorbell chime and then pair it with your video doorbell.

Diagram description: Illustrations show the eufy Doorbell Chime and its power connector. An illustration shows the power connector being plugged into the chime and a pairing process.

Note: One video doorbell can link up to four electronic chimes. Use the volume and music buttons on the side of the electronic chime to adjust the volume and ringtone.
