MCS-7100 SATCOM Series with Swift64 and SwiftBroadband

Honeywell's SATCOM systems have become renowned for providing world-class voice, data, and fax communications. The MCS-7100 Series allows for on-line connections at speeds of 64 Kbps/channel to 432 Kbps/channel, when using either Swift64 or SwiftBroadband. The SwiftBroadband connection allows for an "always on" connection with convenient access to:

• E-mail: Use your own laptop and e-mail application without any modifications, for full access to private or corporate e-mail accounts.
• Internet: Get the latest news and information by browsing your favorite web sites.
• Corporate network: Transfer files to or from your corporate network using the Inmarsat satellite data link networks.
• Video conference: Conduct a live video conference while flying anywhere Inmarsat provides service.

MCS-7100 Series Multi-Channel Satellite Communication Family

The MCS-7100 Series is based around the new HD-710. Its scalable architecture allows for an upgrade to any existing Honeywell MCS system to include Swift64 and Swiftbroadband. The HD-710 can operate as a standalone device supporting Classic Aero voice and Classic Aero data (for safety services), Swift64, SwiftBroadband, and Epic interfaces.

Systems Overview

CNS/ATM environment

SATCOM provides the communications element of the emerging CNS/ATM environment being developed and implemented by the world's air traffic authorities. All of Honeywell's SATCOM systems maintain Level D certification.

The MCS-7100 Series SATCOM augments and/or supersedes the present high frequency (HF) transceiver by supplying higher quality voice service and by supplying data services at higher bit rates needed by datalink (ATN) applications and Future Air Navigation System (FANS) components such as automatic dependent surveillance (ADS), Controller/Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC), and the international Airborne Flight Information Systems (AFIS). The benefits offered by FANS include reduced fuel burn and flight time through more efficient routing and increased payload capability.

MCS-7163

The MCS-7163 is the upgrade path to any existing Honeywell MCS-6000 or MCS-3000 system. This system is a simple retrofit upgrade to Swift64/SwiftBroadband by just replacing the HPA. The main benefit of this retrofit upgrade is the SDU/RFU remain the same. The HD-710 is a drop-in replacement for the HPA. To utilize Swift64/SwiftBroadband it only requires wiring additions. This is a retrofit for existing MCS-6000 and MCS-3000 systems.

The MCS-7163 features simultaneous channels of Classic Aero voice, data, and Swift64/SwiftBroadband. The HD-710 offers two channels of Swift64 (64 Kbps/channel) or two channels of SwiftBroadband (432 Kbps/channel), in addition to a 60 Watt linear High Power Amplifier.

So overall, it's a simple retrofit upgrade to Swift64/SwiftBroadband by just replacing the HPA.

MCS-7147

The MCS-7147 is the upgrade path to any existing Honeywell MCS-4000 or MCS-7000 system. This system is a simple retrofit upgrade to Swift64/SwiftBroadband by just replacing the HPA. MCS-7120

In an effort to better support the business aviation fleet, the MCS-7120 offers a single LRU (8 MCU) solution. This single integrated solution combines the functionality of the Satellite Data Unit, High Speed Data Unit, and High Power Amplifier, utilizing established avionics interfaces with the latest SATCOM technology. The MCS-7120 utilizes all existing Epic cockpit voice, operational control, and display interfaces, thus eliminating all new integration efforts.

The MCS-7120 system offers a flexible architecture of up to four channels supporting Classic Aero services and Swift64/SwiftBroadband. A typical configuration would include, 1 Classic Aero voice channel, 1 Classic Aero data, and 2 channels of Swift64 (64Kbps/channel) which would become 1 channel of SwiftBroadband (432Kbps/channel).
