At the heart of this diagonal is a dielectric coated, diffraction limited, 99+% reflective mirror. By upgrading to this premium star diagonal, you have truly unlocked the peak resolution of your telescope. Using it couldn't be simpler: just turn the twistlock clockwise to secure your eyepiece in place, or turn it counterclockwise to loosen the clamp, freeing the eyepiece. The bright, Celestron orange lock collar is easy to see at night, allowing you to quickly swap out attachments without the need for additional light, preserving your night vision. The full metal frame offers a durable, rigid construction that will last for years to come. The 1.25" insert is baffled and painted matte black, while the mirror housing is insulated with foam padding to minimize glare and block internal reflections and stray light. The 1.25" insert is threaded to accept 1.25" filters. Dust caps are included to protect your diagonal. USING THE TWIST-LOCK MECHANISM To attach a 1.25" accessory to the diagonal, twist the twist-lock collar counterclockwise until it becomes loose and remove the dust cover. Insert your 1.25" eyepiece, Barlow lens, or camera adapter into the twist-lock and twist the collar clockwise to secure the accessory in place. Virtually any accessory that uses a standard 1.25" barrel will work with this diagonal. An integrated 1.25" barrel stop prevents overextended 1.25" accessories from damaging the mirror. USING THE DIAGONAL WITH 1.25" ACCESSORIES WITH THE STEPDOWN ADAPTER To attach a 1.25" accessory to the diagonal, twist the 2" twist-lock collar counterclockwise until it becomes loose. If you are using the diagonal for the first time, you will find the stepdown adapter for 1.25" accessories preinstalled. Otherwise, insert the stepdown adapter and tighten the 2" collar to secure it in place. Insert your 1.25" eyepiece, Barlow lens, or camera adapter into the stepdown adapter and twist the 1.25" collar on the stepdown adapter clockwise to secure the accessory. Virtually any accessory that uses a standard 1.25" barrel will work with this diagonal and the stepdown adapter. INTERCHANGING THE SCT AND 2" ADAPTER Large telescopes designed to work with 2" accessories typically have one of two ways to attach accessories to the visual back of the telescope. All Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes (SCTs) use a SCT thread on the rear cell of the optical tube. Almost all SCTs feature this standard visual back thread, going back to some of the first generation Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tubes. This same SCT adapter is also found on the Celestron Mak 700 optical tube. Some other telescopes use a 2" insert to attach 2" accessories, as opposed to a threaded connection. This diagonal will work with either attachment method, so you can use it with virtually any telescope. The SCT adapter comes preinstalled, so your diagonal is ready to attach to any Celestron SCT right out of the box. To use the 2" adapter instead, firmly grasp the SCT adapter and twist it counterclockwise to loosen it. Remove the SCT adapter to expose the threads on the diagonal to attach the 2" adapter. Take the 2" adapter and begin threading it onto the diagonal. Hand tighten to secure it. Whenever attaching the diagonal to the scope, we recommend adjusting the diagonal to point right side heavy. Extended use of the adapter and changes in ambient temperature can cause it to loosen over time. If it becomes loose, simply hand tighten it again.
