MaxColor™ Product Line

MaxColor™ Series

The MaxColor™ series natively supports 4K@60Hz input and output, enabling High Dynamic Range (HDR) video, including Dolby Vision and HDR10+ formats. It distributes 4K60/4:4:4/36-bit color video over a 1Gb managed network using standard CatX cabling (Cat5e minimum), reducing the need for costly fiber upgrades and specialized network switches.

MaxColor™ transmitters and receivers can be used to build new systems or bridged with 3G Ultra models to support diverse source and screen formats. MaxColor™ and 3G Ultra systems can operate on the same network switch and be integrated with additional hardware.

A QR code labeled "SCAN ME" is present, indicating information on MaxColor and 3G Ultra integration.

System Planning

Designing a System

1. Determine Product Series

Choose the appropriate product series based on resolution and feature requirements:

  • MaxColor™ 4K60: Supports up to 4K Resolution at 60fps, HDR, HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision formats.
  • 3G ULTRA: Supports up to 4K60 Resolution at 4K30 output, HDR & HDR10 formats. Offers extensive features including image rotation and tiling.
  • 2G OMEGA: Supports up to 1080p Resolution and HDR format.

2. VLAN vs Multicast System

Just Add Power systems traditionally use VLAN switching on a closed network for zero detectable latency. For larger installs or when existing infrastructure is in place, a multicast system may be necessary.

Configuration Option VLAN Multicast
AMP Software Does it all (Sets up J+P Devices AND Switch) Does some (J+P Devices ONLY)
Installer Configuration You Configure the Switch Installer and/or IT Admin
Network Knowledge Basic Advanced
Data Network Impact None Variable
System Maintenance Standardized by J+P Variable by System Capabilities/Setup
Installation Type Residential or Commercial Corporate or Institutional

3. Choose Network Switch

Select from a variety of supported switch manufacturers and models. The table below outlines compatibility and specifications for VLAN and Multicast systems.

4. Control System Integration

Just Add Power provides free drivers for popular control systems and an easily accessible API for custom integration.

A QR code labeled "SCAN ME" is present, indicating a link to the Control Systems Overview.

Building a System

To build any size AV over IP matrix:

  1. Source Transmitters: One Transmitter (TX) is required per source device.
  2. Gigabit Switch: A suitable Gigabit Switch with sufficient ports is essential. One port is needed for each Just Add Power device, plus an additional port for the data network. Multiple switches can be used to create larger matrices.
  3. Display Receivers: One Receiver (RX) is required per display.
  4. Cabling: Use Cat 5e/Cat 6/Cat 7 for distances up to 100m, or fiber optic cabling for distances up to 10km.
  5. Configuration: The Advanced Matrix Programmer (AMP) software configures Just Add Power 3G Ultra and MaxColor™ devices into an HDMI matrix switching system. AMP is recommended for new systems and supports a wider range of switches. JADConfig can be used for maintaining existing systems.

The process is illustrated with a flow from 'Source' to 'Transmitter', to 'Switch', to 'Receiver', and finally to 'Display'.

Expanding a System

Just Add Power systems offer unmatched scalability. To expand, simply connect a new Transmitter to an additional source or an additional Receiver to a new display. Bridging components may be required for integration into existing systems.

An example shows adding two new displays, which only requires adding two new Receivers to the existing system.

System Examples

Residential Install (3 Sources x 5 Displays)

A typical two-story residential installation features a switch located in a closet, distributing 3 sources to 5 displays across different rooms (Living Room, Master Bedroom, Bedroom 1, Bedroom 2, Bedroom 3). This setup highlights the flexibility for large homes, easy expansion, and the ability to distribute signals over 100m.

A diagram shows 3 sources (Cable Box, DVD Player, Roku/Firestick) connected via transmitters to a central switch, which then feeds 5 receivers connected to displays in various rooms. A control system is also indicated.

Commercial Install (20 Sources x 30 Displays)

This example demonstrates a large commercial installation for a nightclub and sports bar, using stacked switches to distribute AV throughout the space. Paired with a compatible control system, clients and employees can easily manage sources and screens from anywhere. The system supports standard mosaic and artistic video walls, and can combine multiple video feeds onto a single screen.

A floor plan diagram illustrates a commercial space with multiple bars, seating areas, restrooms, an artist lounge, and a stage. Sources are distributed via transmitters and stacked switches to 30 displays, including a 1x3 video wall and a 2x2 video wall.
