Installation and Pairing

Installation

Connect the smart strip to the 230V power outlet. Due to its construction, it can be bent to some extent and placed in more complex locations. An adhesive strip is located on its underside for attaching the LED strip.

Connecting to Home Network

This device can be connected to your home wireless network to be controlled via a mobile phone from anywhere on the internet. For the app to function correctly, you will need a mobile phone with iOS or Android 4.3+. The procedure for connecting to the device is as follows:

1. Download the official Mi Home app from the Play Store or Apple AppStore. [Google Play Store]
2. Open the Mi Home app and select the Mainland China region.
3. Select "Sign In" and log in to your Xiaomi account (or create one using the "Sign Up" option).
4. Click the ➕ icon in the top right corner and select "Add device".
5. Connect the LED strip and activate the power button.
6. In the bottom part of the Mi Home app, click "Scan" and wait for the new device to appear. Repeat the action if necessary.
7. Next, select your home Wi-Fi network and enter its password.
8. The pairing mode will now begin. Finally, select the room where the device will be used and click "Done".

Changing App Language

Note: By default, English is not set everywhere, even though the app is in English on the initial screen. You must manually select English in the settings:

1. Go to the "Profile" section using the button in the bottom right corner.
2. Select "Settings", then "Language".
3. Select the "English" language.

Using the App

Thanks to the official Mi Home app, you can monitor and control the device from anywhere with internet access after successful pairing. The smart LED strip can be turned on/off remotely, its brightness or color can be changed, and other options can be set (timed on/off, renaming the device, slow dimming, etc.).

Automation

Creating Scenes

Scenes allow you to group multiple devices and their actions (e.g., turning on/off, changing modes) into a single shortcut, which can then be activated with one click. This allows, for example, turning off all devices with a single shortcut. Scenes can be created as follows:

1. Turn on the Mi Home app.
2. Click the ➕ icon in the top right corner and select "Add scenes" then "Custom".
3. Name the rule and click "Add Device".
4. Select the device and then the action. You can add multiple devices.
5. Complete the creation by selecting "Save". Created scenes will appear on the app's home screen. Using the "Add shortcut to Home screen" option in the "More" section for individual scenes allows you to add them as shortcuts to your home screen.

Creating Rules

Xiaomi smart home devices can be freely combined to create rules consisting of conditions and actions. A rule can be created as follows:

1. Turn on the Mi Home app.
2. Go to the "Profile" section using the button in the bottom right corner and select "Automation".
3. Click the ➕ icon in the bottom right.
4. By selecting "Add Condition", you choose the device and the condition to trigger the rule (e.g., a motion sensor detects something). In the "Add Instructions" section, you select the device and its action (e.g., turning on the LED strip).

Grouping Multiple Lights

If multiple Yeelight lights (LED bulbs or LED strips) are added to the Mi Home app, they can be grouped together and controlled collectively (e.g., turning on multiple LED strips at once, changing colors, brightness collectively). The Mi Home app will automatically ask if you want to create groups (Group). Groups can subsequently be edited by clicking on any light, then on the three-dot icon [...] in the top right corner, and selecting "Groups".

Manual Control

The LED strip has a control button that can be used to manually turn the LED strip on/off.

Factory Reset

If you move the device to a location where the Wi-Fi network it was paired with is not available, a factory reset is necessary. Unplug the device from the outlet, press and hold the power button [power button]. Now plug the device back into the outlet (while still holding the button) and release it after 5 seconds of plugging it in. The device will return to factory settings, indicated by several colorful flashes. You can now reconnect it to a new wireless network (see Connecting to Home Network).
