Application Circuits

Diagrams show typical application circuits for Solid State Relays (SSRs). These include AC input type (10 A ~ 40 A), DC input type (10 A ~ 40 A), DC input type (50 A ~ 70 A), and AC input type (50 A ~ 70 A). Each diagram illustrates the input side (DC or AC), the SSR itself, and the output side connected to a load.

Equivalent Circuits

Diagrams illustrate the equivalent electrical circuits for different SSR types. These include DC input types (10 A ~ 40 A and 50 A ~ 70 A) and AC input types (10 A ~ 40 A and 50 A ~ 70 A). Each shows the input circuit, a DC conversion circuit (where applicable), and a trigger circuit leading to the load circuit.

Load Current Characteristics

These graphs show the relationship between input voltage/current and load current under various conditions.

Input Voltage / Current Characteristics

  • HSR-2D (single-phase DC): Graph shows Input Current (mA) on the Y-axis versus Input Voltage (V) on the X-axis. The line is relatively flat, indicating stable input current across the tested voltage range (0-30V).
  • HSR-2A (single-phase AC): Graph shows Input Current (mA) on the Y-axis versus Input Voltage (V) on the X-axis. The line is relatively flat, indicating stable input current across the tested voltage range (0-300V).

Load Current Characteristics

  • 10 A, 20 A: Two graphs are presented. Both show Load Current (Arms) on the Y-axis versus Ambient Temperature (°C) on the X-axis. The graphs for HSR-2D20 and HSR-2D10 show a slight downward trend as temperature increases, indicating a decrease in maximum load current at higher temperatures.
  • 30 A, 40 A: Two graphs are presented. Both show Load Current (Arms) on the Y-axis versus Ambient Temperature (°C) on the X-axis. The graphs for HSR-2D40 and HSR-2D30 show a slight downward trend as temperature increases.
  • 50 A, 70 A: Two graphs are presented. Both show Load Current (Arms) on the Y-axis versus Ambient Temperature (°C) on the X-axis. The graphs for HSR-2D70 and HSR-2D50 show a more pronounced downward trend as temperature increases, indicating a significant decrease in maximum load current at higher temperatures.

Surge Current Characteristics

These graphs illustrate the relay's performance under surge conditions.

  • 10 A, 20 A, 30 A, 40 A: A graph shows Surge Current (A) on the Y-axis versus Number of Cycle (60 Hz) on the X-axis. The lines for HSR-2D10, HSR-2D20, HSR-2D30, and HSR-2D40 show a rapid decrease in surge current capacity as the number of cycles increases.
  • 50 A, 70 A: A graph shows Surge Current (A) on the Y-axis versus Frequency (60 Hz) on the X-axis. The lines for HSR-2D50 and HSR-2D70 show a decrease in surge current capacity as the frequency increases.

Precautions while using the heat sinks

  • Using a standard heat sink and heat-dissipation grease is mandatory for this product.
  • Even if a standard heat sink is used, HSR damage may occur if the environment temperature rises or if the ventilation does not work well (environment temperature: over 40 °C).
  • The normal HSR element is damaged at the maximum temperature of 125 °C or more. When the temperature of the heat sink is 85 °C or higher, or more, the temperature of the element reaches around 125 °C. Therefore, during operation, measure the temperature of the heat sink.
  • When you connect HSR to the heat sink, heat-transmitting grease is needed for smooth heat transmission.
  • To prevent separation by vibration, tighten up with bolts.
  • Before installation, be sure to apply heat-dissipation grease to the contact surface using the standard heat sink, as shown in the above picture. Do not use on insulation boards (wood, plastic, rubber).

Diagram shows a hand applying thermal grease to a heat sink surface before mounting the relay.
