Safety Instructions for Battery and Charger
Significant time has been devoted to the design of each battery pack to ensure that we provide you with batteries that can be used safely, are robust, and have high volumetric energy. The battery cells are equipped with a wide range of safety features. Each individual cell is initially formatted and its electrical characteristics are recorded. This data is then used exclusively to assemble the best possible battery packs.
Despite all these precautions, always exercise caution when handling batteries. Safe use can only be guaranteed if the cells are intact. Improper handling of a battery pack can damage the cells.
IMPORTANT! Analysis confirms that misuse of high-performance batteries and poor maintenance are the main factors responsible for personal and/or property damage.
- WARNING! Use only approved replacement batteries. Other types of batteries can damage the blower/vacuum and prevent it from functioning properly.
- CAUTION! To reduce the risk of injury, charge the iON+ 24V lithium-ion battery pack only in the designated iON+ 24V lithium-ion charger. Other types of chargers pose a risk of fire and personal and property damage. Do not connect any battery pack to the mains or a car cigarette lighter. The battery pack would be permanently and irreparably damaged.
- Avoid Hazardous Environments: Do not charge the battery pack in the rain, snow, or in damp locations. Do not use the battery pack or charger when the atmosphere is explosive (gas fumes, dust, or flammable materials), as sparks may occur when inserting or removing the battery pack, which could cause a fire.
- Charge in a Well-Ventilated Area: Do not block the charger's ventilation openings. Keep the area around the charger clear for good ventilation. Do not smoke and do not allow open flames near a charging battery pack. Dispersed gas in the atmosphere can explode.
- NOTE: The safe temperature range for the battery is between 5°C and 40.5°C. Do not charge the battery outdoors when it is freezing; charge it at room temperature.
- Take Care of the Charger Cord: When unplugging the charger, pull the plug from the outlet, not the cord, to avoid damaging the power plug and cord. Never pull the charger by the cord or yank the cord to remove it from the outlet. Keep the cord away from heat, oil, and sharp edges. While using the charger, ensure that no one walks on the cord, trips over it, or that it can be damaged or subjected to stress or pressure. Do not use the charger if its plug or cord is damaged. Replace any damaged charger immediately.
- Do not use an extension cord unless absolutely necessary: Using an improperly sized, damaged, or improperly connected extension cord presents a risk of fire and electric shock. If an extension cord must be used, plug the charger into a 16-gauge or larger extension cord, with the female plug matching the male plug on the charger. Ensure the extension cord is in good condition.
- The 24VCHRG-QC charger is designed for 120V AC only: the charger must be plugged into an appropriate outlet.

If the battery or charger is damaged, please contact an authorized Snow Joe® + Sun Joe® dealer or call Snow Joe® + Sun Joe® customer service at 1-866-SNOWJOE (1-866-766-9563).
- Battery chemicals can cause severe burns: never allow a damaged battery pack to come into contact with skin, eyes, or mouth. If a damaged battery pack leaks chemicals, use rubber or neoprene gloves to dispose of it safely. If skin comes into contact with battery fluids, wash the affected area with soap and water and rinse with vinegar. If eyes come into contact with battery chemicals, rinse immediately with plenty of water for 20 minutes and consult a doctor. Remove contaminated clothing and dispose of it.
- Store the battery pack and its charger in a cool, dry place: do not store them in a place where the temperature may exceed 40.5°C, such as directly in sunlight, inside a vehicle, or in a metal shed during the summer.
- WARNING! Failure to comply with all warnings and safety instructions could result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.
Battery Information
- The battery pack supplied with your cordless blower/vacuum is only partially charged. The battery pack must be fully charged before using the tool for the first time.
- For optimal battery performance, avoid waiting until it is almost discharged and charge it frequently.
- Store the battery pack in a cool place, ideally at 25°C, and charge it at least to 40%.
- Lithium-ion batteries naturally wear out over time. The battery pack must be replaced at the latest when its capacity drops to 80% of its original capacity when new. Weakened cells in a worn battery pack can no longer produce the high current required for your blower/vacuum to operate properly, posing a safety risk.
- Do not dispose of battery packs in a fire, as they could explode.
- Do not set fire to the battery pack or expose it to a flame.
- Never completely discharge the battery pack. Deep discharge of a battery will damage its cells. Prolonged storage and non-use of a partially discharged battery are the most common causes of complete discharge. Stop your work as soon as you notice the battery power dropping or the electronic protection system triggering. Store the battery pack only when it is fully charged.
- Protect the battery and tool from overcharging. Overcharging will quickly lead to overheating and damage the cells inside the battery housing, even if this overheating is not visible from the outside.
- Avoid damaging the battery or subjecting it to impact. Replace any battery that has been dropped from a height of more than one meter or has been subjected to strong impacts immediately, even if the battery pack housing does not appear damaged. The cells inside the battery may have been severely damaged. In this case, please read the waste disposal information regarding batteries.
- If the battery pack suffers from overcharging or overheating, the integrated protection circuit breaker cuts off the tool's motor for safety reasons.
- IMPORTANT! Do not press the on/off switch again if the protection circuit breaker has been activated. This could damage the battery pack.
- Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may pose a fire risk when used with another type of battery pack.
- Use the charger only with the specifically indicated type of battery pack. Using another type of battery pack may pose a risk of injury and fire.
- If the battery pack is not suitable, liquid may escape from it; avoid contact. In case of accidental contact, rinse thoroughly with water. In case of liquid contact with eyes, consult a doctor. The liquid escaping from the battery can cause irritation or burns (this advice is considered appropriate for NiMH, NiCd, lead-acid, and lithium-ion cell types. If this advice is inappropriate for a cell design that differs from these types, the appropriate advice may be substituted).
- Do not use a damaged or modified battery pack or charger. Damaged or modified batteries can behave unpredictably and cause fire, explosion, or personal injury.
- Do not expose a battery pack or charger to fire or excessive temperatures. Exposure to fire or temperatures above 130°C can trigger an explosion.
- Follow all battery pack and charger charging instructions, ensuring that you never perform this operation at a temperature outside the range specified in these instructions. Improperly charging a battery or charging it at a temperature outside the specified range can damage it and increase the risk of fire.
- Prevent Accidental Starting - Before inserting the battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool, make sure the switch is in the OFF position. Carrying the tool with your finger on the switch or energizing the tool with the switch on invites accidents.
- Remove the battery pack before cleaning or performing any work on the tool - Remove the battery pack before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool. These preventive safety measures reduce the risk of accidentally starting the tool.
- Do not short-circuit - When not in use, store the battery pack away from other metallic objects, such as paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, or other small metal objects that can establish a connection between the two terminals. Short-circuiting the battery terminals can cause burns or fire.
- Replacement Parts - To repair this tool, use only identical replacement parts.
- Do not modify the charger or battery pack (if applicable) or attempt to repair them, except as specified in the instructions for use or maintenance.
- Have your repairs performed by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This is how the product's safety will be preserved.
Charger and Charging Process Information
- Please check the data marked on the battery charger's nameplate. Ensure you plug the battery charger into a power source corresponding to the voltage indicated on the nameplate. Never plug it into a different mains voltage.
- Protect the battery charger and its cord from damage. Keep the charger and its cord away from heat, oil, and sharp edges. Have damaged cords repaired immediately by a qualified technician at an authorized Snow Joe® + Sun Joe® dealer or call Snow Joe® + Sun Joe® customer service at 1-866-SNOWJOE (1-866-766-9563).
- The power plug must match the outlet. Do not make any modifications to the plug. Do not use an adapter plug with a grounded charger. Using unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce the risk of electric shock.
- Keep the battery charger, battery, and cordless tool out of the reach of children.
- Do not use the supplied battery charger to charge other cordless devices, tools, or machines.
- The battery pack becomes hot after prolonged use. Allow the battery pack to cool to ambient temperature before inserting it into the charger to charge it.
- Do not overcharge the battery. Do not exceed the maximum charging time. This charging time applies only to a discharged battery. Frequently recharging a charged or partially charged battery pack will cause overcharging and damage the cells. Do not leave the battery in the charger for several consecutive days.
- Never use or charge a battery if you suspect it has not been charged for more than 12 months. It is highly likely that the battery pack is already dangerously damaged (deep discharge).
- If you charge the battery at a temperature below 5°C, you will damage the cell chemicals, which may cause a fire.
- Do not use a battery that has been exposed to heat during charging, as this battery's cells may have been dangerously damaged.
- Do not use batteries that have swollen or deformed during the charging process, or those showing other atypical symptoms (gas leakage, hissing, cracks, etc.).
- Never completely discharge the battery pack (the maximum recommended discharge level is 80%). Complete discharge of a battery pack will lead to premature aging of its cells.
