Precautions to Avoid Possible Exposure to Excessive Microwave Energy

  • Do not attempt to operate this microwave oven with the door open. This can result in harmful exposure to microwave energy. It is important not to modify or render inoperative the safety interlock devices.
  • Do not place any object between the microwave oven and the door, or allow dirt or cleaning residue to accumulate there.
  • Do not operate the microwave oven if it is damaged. It is particularly important that the drawer closes correctly and that there is no damage to these parts: (1) drawer (curvature), (2) hinges and latches (broken or loose), (3) drawer seals and sealing surfaces.
  • Do not repair or replace any part of this appliance unless specifically recommended in this guide. All other work must be performed by a trained and supported service technician from Fisher & Paykel.

Grounding Instructions

This appliance must be grounded. In the event of an electrical short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electric shock by providing an escape wire for the electrical current. This appliance is equipped with a power supply cord that has a grounding wire and a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and grounded.

  • Consult an electrician or qualified service technician if you do not fully understand the grounding instructions or if you are unsure whether the appliance is properly grounded.

  • Certain products, such as whole eggs and sealed containers (e.g., closed glass jars), may explode and should not be heated in this oven. Such use of this oven could result in injury.
  • Use this appliance only for its intended purpose as described in the manual. Do not use corrosive vapors or chemicals in this appliance. This type of oven is specifically designed to heat, cook, or dry food. It is not designed for industrial or laboratory use.
  • As with any appliance, it is important to closely supervise children when they use the appliance.
  • Do not operate this appliance if the power plug or cord is damaged, if it is not functioning properly, or if it has been dropped or damaged.
  • Service on this appliance should only be performed by a trained and supported service technician from Fisher & Paykel.
  • Do not cover or block any openings on the appliance.
  • Do not store this appliance outdoors. Do not use this product near water – for example, near a kitchen sink, in a damp basement, near a pool, or in similar locations.
  • Do not immerse the cord or plug in water.

  • When closing the appliance, ensure that no fingers or other objects or materials are near the appliance opening.
  • Ensure that food and containers are shorter than the drawer before closing it. You can refer to the height of the drawer walls.

  • When cleaning surfaces that come into contact when closing the drawer, use only mild, non-abrasive detergents or soaps applied with a soft sponge or cloth.

More Safety Instructions

  • To reduce the risk of fire in the oven cavity:
  • Do not overcook food. Stay near the appliance when paper, plastic, or other combustible materials are inside the oven to facilitate cooking.
  • Remove the twist ties from paper or plastic bags before placing them in the oven.
  • If materials inside the oven ignite, keep the drawer closed, turn off the oven, and disconnect the power cord or shut off the power by removing the fuse or closing the circuit breaker in the distribution panel.
  • Do not use the cavity for storage. Do not leave paper products, cookware, or food items in the cavity when the appliance is not in use.
  • Liquids, such as water, coffee, and tea, can overheat beyond the boiling point without apparent bubbling. Boiling or visible bubbles are not always present when you remove the container from the microwave oven. THE RESULT CAN BE SUDDEN BOILING OVER OF VERY HOT LIQUIDS WHEN THE CONTAINER IS DISTURBED OR AN UTENSIL IS INSERTED INTO THE LIQUID.
  • Do not operate any heating or cooking appliances under this appliance.

Installation

  • This oven must be installed and connected to the electrical supply only by a trained and supported service technician from Fisher & Paykel or a qualified person.
  • If installation requires modifications to the home electrical system, call a qualified electrician. The electrician should also verify that the connector cable section is suitable for the oven's electrical current consumption.
  • Ensure that your appliance is correctly installed and grounded by a qualified technician, in accordance with the provided installation instructions.

Service

  • Do not repair or replace any part of this appliance unless specifically recommended in this guide. All other work must be performed by a trained and supported service technician from Fisher & Paykel or a qualified person.
  • If the microwave oven lamp fails, contact a trained and supported service technician from Fisher & Paykel or customer service.

General Safety Precautions

  • Ensure this oven is connected to a circuit incorporating a disconnect switch that allows for complete disconnection of the power supply.
  • Do not use corrosive vapors or chemicals in this appliance.
  • This oven is specifically designed to heat, dry, or cook food and is not intended for industrial or laboratory use.
  • This oven is not approved or tested for marine use.
  • HOT CONTENTS CAN CAUSE SEVERE BURNS. DO NOT ALLOW CHILDREN TO USE THE MICROWAVE.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless a person responsible for their safety supervises them or explains how to use the appliance. Children must be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
  • You must check utensils to ensure they are suitable for use in microwave ovens.
  • When heating food in plastic or paper containers, check the oven frequently, as there is a risk of ignition.
  • If you notice smoke, turn off or unplug the appliance and keep the drawer closed to smother any flames.
  • As microwave heating of beverages can cause delayed eruptive boiling, exercise caution when handling the container.
  • Before consumption, the contents of baby bottles and food jars should be mixed or shaken, and their temperature checked to prevent burns.
  • Eggs in their shell and whole hard-boiled eggs must not be heated in microwave ovens, as these eggs may burst.

More Safety Information

  • The appliance becomes hot during use. Be careful not to touch the heating elements inside the oven.
  • To prevent overheating, do not install the appliance behind a decorative door.
  • If the drawer or drawer seals are damaged, do not use the oven until it has been repaired by a trained and supported service technician from Fisher & Paykel.
  • It is dangerous for any person other than a trained technician to perform any maintenance or repair operation that requires the removal of any cover providing protection against microwave energy exposure.
  • Liquids or other foods must not be heated in sealed containers, as they may explode.
  • Allow children to use the oven without supervision only if adequate instructions have been given to them so that they can use the oven in a safe manner, fully understanding the dangers of improper use.
  • Accessible parts may become hot during use. Keep young children away.
  • To reduce the risk of electric shock, be sure to turn off the appliance before replacing the lamp.
  • The oven should be cleaned periodically and all food residue removed.
  • Failure to keep the oven clean may lead to deterioration of surfaces, reducing the appliance's lifespan and causing hazardous conditions.
  • Do not use abrasive scouring pads or sharp metal scrapers to clean the oven glass door, as they may scratch the surface and cause the glass to crack.
  • Do not operate the oven without the turntable in place. The turntable must be able to rotate without hitting obstacles.
  • During and after use, do not let clothing or other flammable materials come into contact with the interior areas, and do not touch them; allow them sufficient time to cool down.
  • Do not use steam cleaners to clean the appliance.

Arcing

Arcing is the term used to describe the appearance of sparks in microwave ovens.

Arcing is caused by: Metal or aluminum foil contact with the oven walls, using metal cookware or the metal rack during speed cook or microwave cooking, presence of metal in items placed in the oven, such as twist ties, poultry pins, or dishes with gold trim, or using recycled paper towels containing small metal fibers in the oven.

Arcing can occur during speed cook and microwave cooking. If you notice arcing, press CANCEL/OFF and correct the problem.

KEEP THESE INSTRUCTIONS

Before You Begin

  • Ensure the installer has taken the time to complete the 'Final Check List' in the Installation Instructions.
  • Read this guide paying particular attention to the 'Safety Instructions and Warnings' section.
  • Remove all internal and external packaging materials for responsible disposal. Recycle items where possible.

Cookware

  • Use only microwave-safe dishes and cookware.
  • Never operate the microwave without food inside it, except for testing cookware. Never heat food covered with aluminum foil.

Control Panel

The oven operates using a touch control panel and display. To use the keypad to navigate between functions and settings, touch it with the rounded part of your finger, not the tip. As the controls are touch-sensitive, no pressure is required.

First Use

The microwave will display a welcome message upon its first start-up. Press STOP/CLEAR to clear this message.

You can also press STOP/CLEAR to:

  • Clear settings if you make an error.
  • Cancel the timer.
  • Temporarily stop the drawer microwave during programmed cooking.
  • Clear the display to show the clock again.
  • Cancel a program during cooking. Press twice for a programmed cook. After pressing twice, you must open the drawer to clear the display.

Press OPEN/CLOSE to open or close the drawer microwave. You can also close the drawer microwave by gently pushing it.

Do not pull the drawer to open it, except in an emergency, such as a power failure. If necessary, push or pull slowly.

Setting the Clock

  1. Press TIMER SETTINGS twice to access the clock settings.
  2. Use the numeric keypad to enter the time in 12-hour format.
  3. Press START/+30 SEC to confirm.
  4. An ERROR message will appear if the format is incorrect. Press STOP/CLEAR to reset the setting and enter the time again.

Manual Cooking

  1. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the drawer before carefully placing your food inside. Press again to close the drawer.
  2. Enter your cooking time in minutes using the numeric keypad.
  3. Press POWER LEVEL to cycle through power level options and set the desired initial power level.

  1. Press START/+30 SEC to begin cooking. Press again to extend the cooking time in 30-second increments.

Pausing Manual Cooking

Press STOP/CLEAR once to pause cooking. The drawer can be opened and closed while paused.

Canceling Manual Cooking

Press STOP/CLEAR twice to cancel cooking.

Quick Cook

Quick Cook allows you to cook in 30-second increments at full power. It cannot be used with sensor settings, REHEAT, or DEFROST.

Press START/+30 SEC as needed to start cooking.

Using Sensor Functions

Sensor functions automatically adjust power and cooking time based on food type and humidity level. There are three sensor functions: POPCORN, REHEAT, and COOK. Remove excess moisture from the drawer or cookware before using sensor functions.

Popcorn

Follow the instructions on the microwave popcorn package and cook only one package at a time. Once cooking is complete, gently open the package to allow steam to escape.

  1. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the drawer before carefully placing the food inside. Press again to close the drawer.
  2. Cook only one package of popcorn at a time.
  3. Press POPCORN once for a regular portion of 2.85 to 3.5 oz (80 to 100 g) or twice for a mini snack portion of 1.2 to 1.75 oz (35 to 50 g).
  4. Press START/+30 SEC to begin. If additional cooking is needed after sensor cooking, add manual cooking time.

Reheat

Use microwave-safe cookware and cover it with a lid, plastic wrap, or wax paper. Always leave a small vent for steam/moisture to escape from the food during reheating.

  1. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the drawer before carefully placing the food inside. Press again to close the drawer.
  2. Press REHEAT.
  3. Press POWER LEVEL once for additional time or twice for shorter time.
  4. Press START/+30 SEC to begin. If additional reheating is needed after sensor reheating, add manual cooking time. Once the food is reheated, stir and replace the cover. Let stand for 2 to 3 minutes.

Cook

Refer to the Sensor Cook label affixed to the microwave and select the desired food type using the numeric keypad. If the food type is not listed on the cooking chart or if the quantities do not match, use manual cooking.

  1. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the drawer before carefully placing the food inside, then press again to close the drawer.
  2. Press COOK.
  3. Refer to the Sensor Cook label affixed to the microwave and select the desired food type using the numeric keypad. Press the food type number again and follow the on-screen instructions to select the food quantity.
  4. Press START/+30 SEC to begin. If additional cooking is needed after sensor cooking, add manual cooking time.

Pausing or Canceling Sensor Cooking

When the cooking time is displayed, press STOP/CLEAR once to pause cooking and twice to cancel. The drawer can be opened and closed while paused. Press START/+30 SEC to resume.

If you pause or cancel cooking while the food type or name is displayed, ERROR will appear and the function will be canceled.

Defrost

Automatic Defrost

  1. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the drawer before carefully placing the food inside.
  2. Press DEFROST.
  3. Refer to the Defrost label affixed to the microwave and select the desired food type using the numeric keypad.
  4. Use the numeric keypad to enter the weight/volume of the food in pounds/cups.
  5. Press OPEN/CLOSE to close the drawer.
  6. Press POWER LEVEL once for additional time or twice for shorter time.
  7. Press START/+30 SEC to begin.

Turn food when the tone sounds and let it stand after the defrost cycle is complete. Refer to the 'Defrosting Chart' for standing times.

Manual Defrost

If the food type is not listed on the Defrosting Chart or if the quantities do not match, you can manually defrost frozen foods. Generally, the defrosting time is 4 minutes per pound of frozen food.

  1. Use the numeric keypad to enter the defrost time.
  2. Press POWER LEVEL eight times to set the power to 30%.
  3. Press START/+30 SEC to begin.
  • Regularly stop the microwave to remove or separate thawed portions.
  • If food needs further defrosting, continue in one-minute increments.
  • When using plastic containers from the freezer, defrost them only long enough to remove the plastic, then place the food in a microwave-safe dish.

Extra Functions

Extra functions automatically adjust the power and heating time to melt, soften, or warm foods listed on the Extra Functions label. Refer to the 'Melt/Soften/Warm Chart' and the 'Beverage Reheat/Hot Water/Hot Cereal Chart' for food quantities. Use manual cooking settings for foods or quantities not listed.

  1. Press EXTRA FUNCTIONS.
  2. Refer to the Extra Functions label affixed to the microwave and select the desired food type using the numeric keypad. Press the food type number again and follow the on-screen instructions to select the food quantity.
  3. To adjust programmed time settings, press POWER LEVEL once to increase time or twice to decrease it.
  4. Press START/+30 SEC to begin.

  • TIMER (MINUTERIE): This function allows you to check cooking times. You can use it at any time, even when the oven is not in use. The timer does not stop the microwave. Press TIMER SETTINGS three times. Refer to 'Setting the Clock'.
  • SOUND ON/OFF (SOUND ACTIVE/DEACTIVATED): Allows you to turn the audible signal that sounds at the end of the programmed cooking on/off. Press TIMER SETTINGS four times. The display will show SOUND ON or SOUND OFF. Press START/+30 SEC to confirm.
  • REMINDER SIGNAL ON/OFF (REMINDER SIGNAL ACTIVE/DEACTIVATED): Allows you to turn the reminder signal that sounds at the end of programmed cooking on/off. After cooking, a reminder beep will sound every 10 seconds for one minute, then every three minutes for one hour or until you press STOP/CLEAR. Press TIMER SETTINGS five times. The display will show REMIND SOUND OFF or REMIND SOUND ON. Press START/+30 SEC to confirm.
  • AUTO START (AUTOMATIC START): Allows you to set the microwave to begin cooking at a specific time of day. Press TIMER SETTINGS six times and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • DEMO MODE ON/OFF (DEMO MODE ACTIVE/DEACTIVATED): Allows you to turn the demonstration mode on or off. The drawer microwave does not heat in demonstration mode, and the display counts down quickly. Press TIMER SETTINGS seven times. Press and hold the START/+30 SEC button for 3 seconds to turn the appliance on or press once to turn it off.
  • +30 SEC: Press once to cook for 30 seconds at 100%. Press multiple times to extend manual cooking time in 30-second increments. You can use this function within 3 minutes after cooking ends, after closing the drawer, or after pressing STOP/CLEAR. You cannot use it with sensor settings, REHEAT, or DEFROST.

Key Lock

The key lock allows you to lock the drawer and disable the control panel to prevent unintended use by children or during microwave cleaning.

Locking: Press and hold the STOP/CLEAR button for three seconds.

Unlocking: Press and hold the STOP/CLEAR button for three seconds.

Multi-Stage Cooking

You can program up to four cooking stages with different power levels that vary during the cooking process, if cooking instructions require it.

  1. Use the numeric keypad to enter the initial cooking time.
  2. Press POWER LEVEL to cycle through power level options and set the desired initial power level.
  3. To set the second cooking stage, enter the next cooking time and set the next POWER LEVEL. Repeat for up to four stages, if necessary.
  4. Press START/+30 SEC to begin. You can check the current power level at any time during a cooking stage by pressing POWER LEVEL.

Care and Cleaning

General

Use a soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use scouring pads, abrasive cleaning products, or solvents. We recommend cleaning spills or splatters that are easily accessible after each use to prevent accumulation or burning.

Odor Elimination
