Connect the Keyboard
The K5 is a plug-and-play keyboard. Connect the USB-C cable to the keyboard and the USB-A end to your computer. The driver will install automatically.
Settings and Functions
All settings are made directly on the keyboard using the [FN] key combined with other keys.
RGB LED Settings
Switch to USB 3 Mode for Boost RGB: Press and hold [FN] + the [USB 2/3] key for 2 seconds. The keyboard defaults to USB 2 mode. Use USB 3 mode for maximum RGB brightness.
Show Current LED Mode: Hold [FN] to see the current LED mode. Custom color settings are found in K-LED mode.
LED On/Off: Press [FN] + [LED ON/OFF] (Caps Lock) to toggle illumination.
LED Brightness Up/Down: Press [FN] + the respective brightness keys to increase or decrease LED brightness.
LED Typing Effects: Press [FN] + this key to cycle through 6 typing effects. The 7th mode turns typing effects off. Reduce regular LED brightness for better visibility of typing effects.
LED Wave Effects: Press [FN] + this key to cycle through 7 different wave effects.
Your LED Settings: Press [FN] + [K-LED] to display your custom LED settings made with [K-COLOR] and [BG COLOR] keys.
Change Background Color (All Keys): Press [FN] + [BG COLOR], select a color from the palette displayed on keys. Press spacebar for more color options. Confirm by pressing [FN] + [K-LED].
Change Individual Key Colors:
- Press [FN] + [K-COLOR].
- When the [FN] key blinks, press the keys you want to color. Press [FN] again.
- A color palette appears. Choose your desired color. Press spacebar repeatedly for more options.
- Selected keys are now colored. To apply these colors, press [FN] + [K-LED].
Key Mask: Press [FN] + [K-MASK]. Only keys colored with [K-COLOR] will function; all others are disabled.
Macros
Record and Play Macros
To Record: Press and hold [FN] + [M1]/[M2]/[M3]/[M4]/[M5] for 2 seconds. A light in the corner will blink. Enter your key sequence, then press [FN] again. Keystrokes are saved to the selected macro button.
To Play: Press [FN] + the [M] key ([M1]-[M5]) where your macro is saved.
Macro Speed Up/Down: Press [FN] + the respective [M-SPEED] keys to adjust the speed of the last played macro.
Media Controls
Press [FN] in combination with the media keys for controls like [Play/Pause], [Next Track], [Previous Track], [Volume Up], [Volume Down], and [Mute].
F1-F12 Functions
Press [FN] in combination with the [F1] through [F12] keys to access their functions.
Control the Mouse Cursor
Press [FN] in combination with the designated keys to control the mouse cursor, scroll wheel, and left/right clicks.
Factory Reset
To reset the keyboard and clear all settings, press and hold [FN] + [FACTORY RESET] for 2 seconds.
Other Settings
Switch Between 6-Key and N-Key Rollover: Press [FN] + [6/NKEY]. N-Key Rollover is recommended for full functionality, allowing simultaneous keypresses. 6-Key Rollover limits to 6 simultaneous keypresses and may be required for BIOS or certain login systems.
Open Calculator: Press [FN] + [Calculator] key to open your computer's calculator.
Key Release Response Speed Up/Down: Press [FN] + [K-FAST] or [K-SLOW] to adjust the key release response speed. FAST is for maximum typing speed; SLOW is for stability and avoiding double typing/chattering.
Navigation Keys: Access navigation keys (like arrow keys, Home, End) by pressing [FN] in combination with [PAUSE], [INS], [PRTSC], [HOME], [END].
Check Firmware Version: Open a text document and press [FN] + [VERSION]. The keyboard will type the current firmware version.
Open Menu: Depending on compatibility, this key can open the menu of the current application.
FN Key Functionality
Lock Windows Key: Press [FN] + [WIN LOCK] to disable the Windows key, preventing accidental presses during gaming.
Move FN Key Function to Left ALT: If you prefer the Left [ALT] key to act as [FN] (and the original [FN] key as [ALT]), press and hold [FN] + the Left [ALT] key for 5 seconds.
Move FN Key Function Back to FN Key: To revert the [FN] key function back to the original [FN] key, press and hold [FN] + the Left [ALT] key (which currently acts as [FN]) for 5 seconds.
Assemble and Disassemble the Keyboard
Assembly
The K5 keyboard is designed for easy assembly and customization.
Step 1: Keyboard Overview: The Xtrfy K5 keyboard is shown, highlighting its compact design.
Step 2: Switch Insertion: A close-up view shows a mechanical switch being aligned and pressed into its socket on the keyboard's printed circuit board (PCB).
Step 3: Keycap Installation: Another close-up shows a keycap being gently pressed down onto the stem of an installed switch until it seats securely.
Step 4: Top Frame Placement: The detachable top frame of the keyboard is shown being placed over the assembled keyboard base.
Step 5: Final Assembly: The fully assembled Xtrfy K5 keyboard, now complete with its top frame and ready for connection, is displayed.
Disassembly
To disassemble the keyboard, follow these steps in reverse:
Step 1: Keyboard Connected: The keyboard is shown with its USB cable connected.
Step 2: Top Frame Removal: The top frame is being carefully lifted away from the keyboard base.
Step 3: Keycap Removal: A keycap is shown being pulled upwards off a switch stem.
Step 4: Switch Removal: A switch is depicted being extracted from its socket on the PCB.
Troubleshooting
- Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and the computer's USB port.
- Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer.
- Test the keyboard on another computer to rule out computer-specific issues.
- Perform a factory reset by pressing and holding the [FN] key + [FACTORY RESET] key for 2 seconds.
