Connecting for the First Time
When connecting your Sabrent Thunderbolt 3 adapter to your computer for the first time, your operating system may prompt you to approve the connection. Follow these steps:
- If prompted, select "Always Connect" and click "OK".
- Alternatively, select "Ask Every Time" for enhanced security.
Note: Selecting "Do Not Connect" will prevent the device and any devices further down the Thunderbolt chain from functioning. Ensure you install the necessary drivers included with the device before approving the connection.

Troubleshooting Your Thunderbolt 3 Device
If your Thunderbolt 3 device is not recognized properly, consider the following troubleshooting steps:
- Ensure both the computer and the device are powered on and that the Thunderbolt 3 device is connected via the Thunderbolt interface.
- Disconnect and reconnect the Thunderbolt cable, and/or restart your computer.
- Use the included Thunderbolt 3 cable. If possible, test with a second cable to rule out cable-related issues.
- Verify that your computer supports Thunderbolt. A USB-C port alone is insufficient if it only supports USB protocol.
- For Windows PCs, update your computer's BIOS.
- For Windows PCs, update the Thunderbolt firmware (NVM) on your computer.
- For Windows PCs, update the Thunderbolt software (driver) on your computer.
- For Windows PCs, when connecting a new device for the first time, you may need to approve it. Select "Always Connect".
- For Windows PCs, if the device is recognized initially but fails to reconnect, install the specific device driver for Windows.
- For Windows PCs, if the device is no longer recognized after an operating system upgrade (e.g., from Windows 7 to Windows 10), uninstall the Thunderbolt software and reinstall the latest version, even if it appears to be the same version.
