Manufacturing
The luminaire is designed in compliance with RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU) restricting the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and flame retardants (polybrominated biphenyls - PBB, polybrominated diphenyl ethers - PBDE).
Distribution
Packaging mass and volume have been optimized according to European packaging directives. Efforts were made to replace plastic in packaging with recycled and recyclable cardboard.
Installation
The KATON luminaire requires no specific installation procedure.

End-of-Life
Resistex is affiliated with the eco-organization ecosystem for the recycling and recovery of all its WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). A service in collaboration with ecosystem is available to collect WEEE free of charge.
Lifecycle Analysis Methodology
The lifecycle analysis is based on the criteria of PCR-ed4-FR-2021 09 06 and PSR-0014-ed2-FR-2023 07 13. The functional unit and scenarios for distribution, use, and waste treatment comply with the hypotheses set in PSR-0014-ed2-FR-2023 07 13. Results were obtained using EIME software v6.2 with data from April 2024.
Manufacturing Stage
Luminaires are assembled in Resistex's China factory. This stage includes: production and upstream transport of materials, industrial processing, assembly (energy/water consumption, waste), end-of-life treatment of waste, and transport of packaged product to the last logistics platform. Recycled material content is considered 0%.
Distribution Stage
Product distribution from the last logistics platform (Saint André de la Roche, France) to installation sites in France was modeled by: truck transport (27t capacity, 250 km) and container transport (19000 km).
Installation Stage
This stage considers the end-of-life of the packaging.
Usage Stage
The luminaire does not have lighting management functionality. It is used for 28.8 years with 2500 hours annually, totaling 72000 hours. With a power of 40.3W, its electricity consumption over its lifetime is 2901.6 kWh. No light source replacement is needed. Normal operating conditions require no maintenance.
End-of-Life Stage
This stage includes transport and treatment of the luminaire and its last light source. Modeling used EcoSystem's ESR database for electrical and electronic equipment end-of-life environmental footprint. Bill of Materials (BOM) were used to apply specific ESR data for contained materials. ESR data without virgin material substitution benefits were used, categorized under 'Professional Lighting Equipment'.
Module D - Net Benefits and Charges Beyond System Boundaries
Charges related to recycled material in manufacturing were considered in Module D. Packaging recycling benefits during installation and end-of-life recycling benefits were also modeled.

Impact results are based on PCR-ed4-FR-2021 09 06 and PSR-0014-ed2-FR-2023 07 13, considering 1000 lumens over 35,000 hours.
