Instruction Manual Contents:

SECTION 1: OVERVIEW OF FEATURES

The AcuRite main unit display shows various weather information. Key features include:

Navigation and control are managed via buttons such as the Backlight Button, Display Button, Menu Button, Operation Buttons, and History Button.

The system includes three wireless sensors:

About The Menu

The weather station features a menu system for accessing basic and advanced functions. Use the [MENU Button] to enter the menu, the [UP Button] and [DOWN Button] to scroll through options, and the [OK Button] to select an option. The display will prompt for further actions. It is recommended to explore sections 4 and 5 for detailed menu options.

SECTION 2: SETUP

A/B/C Wireless Selection

To ensure successful wireless communication, the main unit and all three wireless sensors must have their internal "A B C" switches set to the same position (A, B, or C). These switches are typically located near or within the battery compartments.

Install Batteries

Install batteries in the wireless sensors before installing batteries in the main display unit. Use only fresh batteries and observe polarity ([Plus Symbol] / [Minus Symbol]). Lithium batteries are suggested for better cold weather performance. Do not mix old and new batteries.

Plug in AC Power Adaptor

Plug the AC adaptor into the bottom of the main unit, and then plug the adaptor into a 110v AC wall outlet. The main unit will operate on AC power. If "AA" batteries are also installed, the unit will continue to operate during power outages.

Main Unit Basic Setup

After powering up, the main unit will prompt you to set unit preference (English/Metric) and the initial time and date. The unit will automatically synchronize its time and date with the atomic clock signal once received, which may take up to 24 hours and depends on location and surroundings.

Your initial time and date settings are complete. The main unit will now search for the wireless sensors and the atomic clock signal.

SECTION 3: PLACEMENT

Place the 3 wireless sensors and the main unit strategically. Wireless sensors must be placed LESS THAN 100 feet away from the main unit.

This weather station uses radio frequency susceptible to interference. Place both units at least 3 feet away from appliances (TV, microwave, radios) or large metallic items/thick walls that may interfere with wireless communication.

Placement of Main Unit

Place the main unit in a dry area, free of dirt and dust. Position it out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources or vents to ensure accurate indoor temperature readings. Options include hanging on a wall using the integrated hang hole or placing on a table using the removable display stand.

Placement of Sensors

The wireless sensors MUST be placed OUTDOORS to monitor weather conditions. They must be within 100 feet of the main unit.

Alternative Mounting Option (Sensors)

Both the Temperature & Humidity Sensor and the Wind Sensor can be mounted onto a pole structure (e.g., a 3cm diameter PVC pipe) to position them high above obstructions. Mount the temperature & humidity sensor directly and the wind sensor using its bracket arm. Ensure a good wireless connection before permanently mounting.

SECTION 4: OPERATION

A WEATHER CATEGORY DISPLAY

The [DISPLAY Button] cycles through available weather information categories displayed on the main unit. These include Outdoor Temperature, Outdoor Humidity, Rainfall, Wind Speed, Barometric Pressure, Indoor Temperature, Indoor Humidity, and Future Forecast. Recorded low and high values for the currently displayed category are shown below.

B HISTORY: CURRENTLY SELECTED WEATHER

Press the [HISTORY Button] repeatedly to view up to 7 days of historical data for the currently displayed weather category. Pressing the button an eighth time or inactivity for 15 seconds will exit history mode. To view history for another category, use the [DISPLAY Button] first.

C WEATHER FORECAST: ICONS

The station provides a predicted weather forecast for the next 12 to 24 hours based on barometric pressure and temperature tracking.

D WEATHER FORECAST: 14 DAY LEARNING MODE

This feature includes a 14-day calibration process to improve forecast accuracy by making altitude calculations. A progress bar indicates the learning status. The learning mode icon disappears upon completion.

E WIRELESS SIGNAL: RECEPTION ICONS

Signal strength icons ([Signal Bars]) are displayed for outdoor sensors and the atomic clock. Low signal strength may result in no data (--) or inaccurate readings. Refer to the troubleshooting section for more tips.

SECTION 5: ADVANCED FEATURES

F ADVANCED FEATURES: WEATHER ALERT

Set LOW and HIGH alerts for various weather categories. When a reading falls below the LOW alert value or rises above the HIGH alert value, an audible alarm sounds and a [WEATHER ALERT Icon] appears on the display. Press any button to silence the alarm. The alert icon remains as long as conditions are at alert levels or until the alert is turned off.

G ADVANCED FEATURES: AUTO DISPLAY

This feature automatically displays weather categories that are currently outside their normal, pre-set ranges. This function only activates if the "WEATHER ALERT" feature is turned ON. It uses internal memory of normal weather ranges to detect deviations.

SECTION 6: TROUBLESHOOTING and INFORMATION

ProblemPossible Solution
Bad Wireless Sensor Reception ([Signal: No Bars])Relocate the main unit and/or wireless sensors. Ensure all units are within 100 feet of each other and at least 3 feet from other electronic devices (TVs, microwaves, computers). Resynchronization may take up to 20 minutes after battery replacement. Use lithium batteries in sensors when temperatures are below -4°F (-20°C).
Bad Atomic Clock Reception ([Signal: No Bars])Relocate the main unit. Ensure the atomic clock sensor (in the temperature/humidity sensor) has a clear western view, away from large stone or metallic surfaces. Ensure at least 3 feet separation from electronic devices. Large metallic surfaces can interfere with the atomic clock signal. Use lithium batteries in sensors when temperatures are below -4°F (-20°C).
No Wireless Sensor Data (no communication) ([Signal: No Bars] and flashing [--] data)Check "Bad Reception" solutions. Ensure the wireless ID setting on the main unit and all three wireless sensors match. See "Set Wireless ID" below.
Main Unit Display Not WorkingVerify batteries are installed correctly and may need replacing. If using the AC power adaptor, ensure it is plugged in and the outlet has power.

Operating Range of Batteries

Extended cold temperatures (below -4°F / -20°C) can cause alkaline batteries to function improperly, potentially stopping outdoor sensor transmission. Use lithium batteries in these low-temperature conditions for continued operation.

Set Wireless ID

This wireless weather station uses 433 MHz radio frequency for communication. To resolve interference or reception problems, ensure the selectable wireless ID (A, B, or C) matches on the main unit and all three wireless sensors. The ID switches are located within the battery compartments.

About the Atomic Clock

An atomic clock is accurate to one second in a million years. Consumer atomic clocks attain this accuracy by receiving signals from an atomic clock. In North America, the National Institute of Standards and Technologies operates an atomic clock in Colorado that transmits time codes via the WWVB radio station. The AcuRite clock has a built-in receiver for this signal. Due to solar radiation, the daytime signal is weaker; most synchronization occurs at night when interference is less.
