Purification Theory

The air purification process involves several stages:

Diagram illustrating the purification process: Dirty air enters, passes through a Pre-Filter, Wire Frame, Collecting Plates, and a Composite Catalyst Filter, resulting in Fresh Air. Pollutants shown include TVOC, Bacteria & viruses, and PM 2.5.
  1. Pre-Filter: Removes hair, dander, etc.
  2. Wire Frame: Kills bacteria & viruses, decomposes Formaldehyde and TVOC.
  3. Collecting Plates: Collects all harmful particles.
  4. Composite Catalyst Filter: Further purifies the air.

Faulty Reminder

When "9XX" appears on the display and the power indicator is blinking, it indicates a potential issue. Clean the unit thoroughly, ensuring all parts are correctly assembled and have solid contact. Refer to the Full Cleaning Cycle section for more details. If "9XX" persists after cleaning, contact customer service.

AQI numbers are calculated based on real-time particle numbers, influenced by air flow speed, purifier position, and ambient environment, according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Reminder & Placement Guidelines

Power Cord Reminder

Diagrams illustrating correct and incorrect power cord placement.
  • Pic 1 Correct: Power cord routed freely, not under the purifier.
  • Pic 2 Wrong: Power cord coiled.
  • Pic 3 Wrong: Power cord routed under the bottom of the purifier.

Instructions: Please take out the power from the back directly. DO NOT coil or run the power cord under the bottom of the air purifier. Keep it free and clear from obstructions. Follow these instructions to avoid electromagnetic compatibility issues with the purifier.

Ionization Wire Frame Cleaning

We recommend cleaning the Ionization Wire Frame when the air purifier emits abnormal sounds, such as "crackling or zapping".

  1. Use a soft cloth or sponge to clean the Ionization Wire Frame track by sliding up-down gently.
  2. Insert the Ionization Wire Frame in the direction of the labeling.
  3. Do not allow the wire frame to come into contact with any liquid to avoid corrosion.

Collecting Plates Cleaning

We recommend cleaning the collecting plates when the air purifier display shows "-C-".

  1. Turn off the power, open the rear cover panel, and pull out the collecting plates. (Refer to Diagram 1)
  2. Place collecting plates into a container and use a cleaning brush to clean them with water. (Refer to Diagram 3)
  3. Remarks:
    • It is better to use detergent and soak for around 10 minutes before brushing the collecting plates. Do not soak for too long to protect their normal functioning. (Refer to Diagram 2)
    • Choose a neutral detergent. DO NOT USE a corrosive detergent such as daily laundry powder.
    • Ignore small stains on the sheet metal surface as they will not seriously affect the use of the air purifier.
  4. Dry the collecting plates after cleaning using a hair dryer or natural sunlight. Recommended drying time is over 24 hours.
  5. Put the collecting plates back in the proper direction based on the label on the collecting plate.
Diagram 1: Shows removing collecting plates after opening the rear cover.
Diagram 2: Illustrates soaking collecting plates in a solution.
Diagram 3: Depicts cleaning the collecting plates with a brush and water.

Full Cleaning Cycle

  1. Unplug the power supply. Open the rear cover panel and pull out the wire frame and collecting plates.
  2. Clean the collecting plates according to the previous instructions.
  3. Use a wet cloth to wipe down all surfaces of the protective rubber sleeve, including notches. (Recommended to clean every 3 months.) (Refer to Diagram 1)
  4. If dust accumulates on the protective rubber sleeve, open the upper shroud and remove the composite catalyst filter. Then take out the rubber sleeve and wash it in water. Please dry it for over 24 hours. (Recommended to wash every 6 months.) (Refer to Diagram 2)
  5. Wash the pre-filter in water and dry it.
  6. Dry all parts completely, then reassemble them in order.

Q&A

1. I am concerned about the product safety, may I know more?

Airdog X8S is built around a Safety 1st motto! We have implemented the following:

2. Airdog X8S uses high voltage inside, is it safe for home use?

Airdog X8S uses an advanced electronic design built around safety. The power consumption of Airdog is equivalent to a small light bulb. It has high voltage inside but very low current in the order of micro-amps. The high voltage runs on direct current to avoid any possible electronic perturbation.

3. Do I have any maintenance cost if I own an Airdog X8S?

Airdog X8S is a cost-effective and environmentally green solution.

4. I heard a "crackling" or "zapping" noise inside the unit. Is that normal?

The occasional "zapping" or "crackling" is normal when bigger particles enter the air purifier, being zapped by the high voltage, similar to when a bug zapper traps a bug. However, if the "cracking" or "zapping" noise is constant, you should clean the unit and make sure that all parts in the unit are fully dried after cleaning. 80% of the noise issues are caused by dust accumulation on the collecting plates and/or inner chamber, or by wet collecting plates. Normally, a full cleaning cycle will take care of it.

5. Can I clean the Airdog X8S by putting the whole unit in the dishwasher?

You should not put the whole Airdog X8S unit into the dishwasher! Only the collecting plate is OK to be washed by a full wash cycle. Please make sure the collecting plate unit is fully dried before putting it back into your Airdog X8S. There could be water residue inside of the collecting plates even after the drying cycle sometimes, so make sure to take the time to fully dry them.

6. How could I confirm that the collecting plates are fully dried?

Please put the collecting plate in a dry space for at least 24 hrs. You may put tissues or a paper towel under the collecting plates to check if it is fully dried.

7. Why does Airdog App connection fail?

8. How to clean the catalyst filter?

The catalyst filter is cleanable by using a light vacuum over it as well as setting it in the sunlight for refreshing.
