Press the button above the Mix/Sub Out jack to show or dismiss the display page of output options
· Sub Cut: Removes frequencies lower than the selected frequency from the audio sent to the VARI's own amplifier and speakers, using a 4th-order Butterworth low-cut-type filter. This is typically done when using VARI with a subwoofer, to let VARI focus its energy on the upper frequencies, while the sub handles the lows.
· Mix Out Mode: Chooses what audio to send from the MIX/SUB OUT jack o Mono Mix: Intended to feed audio to another sound system, or monitor speaker o Sub With Cut: To feed a subwoofer, the output has only low frequencies below the Sub Cut frequency o Alt Link: Page 7 shows how to use this mode to link multiple pairs of VARIs
· Invert/Delay: Several options are available o Off: Mix/Sub Out is not inverted or delayed o Invert: Mix/Sub Out is inverted (reversed or flipped phase or polarity) o Any delay applied is in addition to System Delay (see page 13). o 1-30ms: Delays the Mix/Sub Out. This delay allows the same capability as the Time Aligning Delay on the Harbinger VS12 and VS18 subwoofer. When feeding a subwoofer, send audio with strong low frequencies to the subwoofer, and adjust this delay until low frequencies are loudest and strongest. Delay can also be used to compensate for distance between speakers in complex, multi-speaker setups, so the display shows the approximate number of feet that sound travels in the selected time o 1-30ms Invert: delays and inverts the Mix/Sub Out
· Mix Out Level: Controls the output level, which is valuable for adjusting the level sent to a subwoofer, monitor speaker or other sound system
· Clip LED: If the Clip LED near the Mix/Sub Out jack is lit, turn down the Mix Out level to avoid distorted sound

MAIN MENU These Main Menu pages are available:

VOICINGS Voicings tune your VARI for common uses. As you select a voicing on the Select Voicing page, the curve indicates how that voicing effects the VARI 4400 frequency response.

While Home is highlighted, as in left and right images above, you can press the MASTER VOLUME knob to return to the Home Page. Or turn the MASTER VOLUME knob to highlight a function, then press the Master Volume knob to show the control page for the highlighted function. For example, here is the Select Voicing page:
On this page, the MASTER VOLUME knob selects the Voicing.
Most function pages allow you to push the MASTER VOLUME knob to exit the page, as the bottom of this page indicates.

From the Select Voicing page, turning the MASTER VOLUME knob will select from the 10 voicing memories.
· Turning the Bass and Treble will show you their effect on the frequency response of the voicing
· Turning the MASTER VOLUME knob will load a different voicing, and reset Bass and Treble to 0

The 10 voicings provided from the factory are as follows:
· Standard: The default tuning of your VARI, designed to provide a highly accurate full frequency, extended bass response for general use, with no additional frequency contouring
· Club: Increased low frequencies and reduced highs intended for high-volume electronic dance music
· Live Band: Reduced low frequencies tamed ultra-high frequencies intended for main speakers for a band performing to a large audience at high volume
· Speech: Reduced low frequencies and emphasized frequencies in the vocal range, intended for maximum intelligibility of amplified speech with reduced tendency for feedback and rumble
· AcoGtr&Vox: Reduced low frequencies and focused mid frequencies, which can enhance acoustic guitars and vocals, and reduce potential for feedback and rumble, when amplifying acoustic guitar and vocals together at high volume
· FloorMontr: Reduced low frequencies to reduce feedback and rumble when the VARI is laid down on its side and used as a "wedge" floor monitor
· User 14: Each of these four memory locations initially provide the same unaltered settings as the Standard tuning, but you can overwrite them with your own customized tunings using the VARI Series App
You can customize any voicing (including the six factory standard voicings) from the free, downloadable VARI Series App, available from Apple's iOS App Store and the Google Play Store.
· Using the app, you can adjust all the bands of EQ that define a voicing and overwrite any voicings in the VARI's memory with your personalized settings
· You can then access any of those voicings directly from the VARI's own display at any time
(See page 3 for app download and installation information)

HEARING DAMAGE AND PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO EXCESSIVE SPLs
Harbinger VARI Series powered loudspeakers are capable of producing extremely loud volume levels that can cause permanent hearing damage to performers, production crews or the audience. Hearing protection is recommended during long-term exposure to high SPLs (sound pressure levels).
Remember, if it hurts, it is definitely too loud! Long-term exposure to high SPLs first causes temporary threshold shifts; limiting your ability to hear the actual loudness and exercise good judgment. Repeated long-term exposure to high SPLs will cause permanent hearing loss.
Please note the recommended exposure limits in the accompanying table. More information about these limits is available on the U.S. government Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) website at: www.osha.gov.
