ST25R501: Automotive NFC Reader for CCC Digital Key

Introduction

The ST25R501 is a compact and high-performance NFC reader designed for automotive applications, specifically for CCC (Car Connectivity Consortium) digital key car access systems. This device, housed in a small 4x4 mm wettable flank package, enables rapid development of car access and start functionalities, commonly integrated into door handles and center consoles.

Engineered for robustness and low electromagnetic emission, the ST25R501 operates reliably even in challenging environments, facilitating a smoother certification process for electromagnetic immunity and emissions. It supports various NFC communication standards including NFC-A/B (ISO/IEC 14443A/B) up to 848 kbit/s, NFC-F (FeliCa™) up to 424 kbit/s, and NFC-V (ISO/IEC 15693) up to 212 kbit/s.

Key features include high RF power output for efficient antenna driving, achieving extended interaction distances. The device also incorporates low-power card detection and dynamic power output (DPO) for optimized field strength management. Its wide operating voltage range (2.7 V to 5.5 V), broad ambient temperature range (-40 °C to +125 °C), and AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualification make it exceptionally suitable for demanding automotive environments.
