7. Adjust the PIR Detecting Distance
The PIR "Body Detection" feature is enabled by default with a "Mid" sensitivity setting, providing a detecting distance of 6 meters (20ft). This can be adjusted in "My Device" -> "Device Settings" -> "Body Detection".
App interface screenshots showing navigation to "Body Detection" settings. The "Body Detection" screen allows selection of sensitivity levels: Low, Medium, and High.
Sensitivity | Detecting Distance (For moving and living things) |
---|---|
Low | Up to 4 meters (13ft) |
Medium | Up to 6 meters (20ft) |
High | Up to 8 meters (26ft) |
NOTE: Higher sensitivity increases the detecting distance but may also lead to more false alarms. It is advised to set the sensitivity to "Low" or "Medium" when installing the camera outdoors.
8. Alarm Push Notification and Playback
The battery camera with PIR sensor is designed for event-based recording, not continuous 24/7 recording. When the PIR sensor detects human body motion events, it sends an alarm message notification to your phone app and records video to the SD card. You can then playback these motion videos from anywhere via the CloudEdge App.
When PIR is triggered, the camera and system perform the following actions:
- (1) Alarm Sound in app (ensure Cloudedge app notification is enabled in mobile settings and mobile volume is on).
- (2) Alarm Message Notification (ensure Cloudedge app notification is enabled in mobile settings).
- (3) Alarm snapshot and video record on SD card (requires TF Card insertion).
App interface showing "Alarm Record" and "Alarm Snapshot" sections. Each entry includes a timestamp and a preview. Options are available to play alarm video recording clips.
9. Camera Installation
9.1 Placement: You can place the camera on any flat surface such as a table, chair, or floor.
9.2 Install with Wall Mount:
9.2.1 A3 Wall Mount Installation: Fix the iron ball bracket to the wall using screws or double-sided adhesive. Then, attach the camera to the iron ball. Installation is convenient and allows for easy adjustment of the angle.
10. Important Notes for Reducing False Alarms
10.1 Reduce False Alarms:
- Do not install the camera facing bright lights, including sunshine or bright lamp lights.
- Do not place the camera too close to areas with frequently moving vehicles. The recommended distance between the camera and vehicles is 15 meters (55ft).
- Stay away from air conditioner vents, humidifier outlets, and heat transfer vents of projectors.
- Do not install the camera facing a mirror.
- Keep the camera at least 1 meter away from other wireless devices (Wi-Fi routers, phones) to avoid wireless interference.
10.2 Cover the Monitoring Area: When installing, it is not suggested to have the PIR sensor vertically face the moving object, as it may fail to detect motion events. It is recommended to ensure the angle between the PIR sensor and the detected object is larger than 10 degrees.
Diagrams illustrate correct and incorrect PIR sensor placement. "YES" shows an angled approach to an entrance, with the path of a moving object forming an angle θ > 10° with the sensor's line of sight. "NO" shows the sensor directly facing the entrance, implying a vertical alignment. Another diagram shows a person walking within the camera's detection cone, indicating an "Ideal Viewing Distance: 2-10 meters (7-33ft)".
