02 Launch the Software

The interface of the launching process:

Upon launching, you will see a login screen with an update announcement. You can choose between 'Hand Mode' and 'Table Mode', or 'Open Project'.

A screenshot shows the initial interface with options for Hand Mode, Table Mode, and opening existing projects.

The main interface of the software:

The main interface includes a menu bar (File, Tools, Edit, History, Help), a viewport for displaying the scan, and various control panels for adjusting scan parameters like brightness, frame rate, slam mode, geometry, and scan quality.

The interface allows selection between Hand Scan and Table Scan modes, and an Edit Mode for post-processing.

03 Import the Calib File

Click "File" in the menu and select "Import Calib".

A dialog box appears for calibration, allowing you to select a Calib File via manual import or network download. It also displays Calib Info such as Serial Number, Calibrate Time, and Calibrate Type.

For Windows: Choose "Network Download" and click "Import".

For Mac OS: Choose "Network Download", input the device's SN, click "Apply", and then "Import".

A confirmation message "calibfile download successfully" is displayed upon successful import.

04 In the Turntable Mode

Step 1: Preview

The interface shows a preview window, a timeline, and various toolbars. Key areas are numbered for reference:

  1. The main 3D view of the scanned object.
  2. A histogram or waveform representing scanning distance.
  3. Scan settings panel.
  4. Preview window.

Instructions:

  1. Adjust the scanning angle and the distance between the turntable and the scanner to center the object in the 3D view. For CR-Scan 01, maintain a distance of 600-800mm. For CR-Scan Lizard, maintain a distance of 300-400mm. Ensure the tripod is extended to its highest level.
  2. The ruler on the left indicates the scanning distance. The waveform shows if the distance is appropriate: 'too far', 'excellent', or 'too near'.

Step 2: Initialization

Keep the area around the turntable clear of debris.

A visual representation shows a pink object on a turntable with a blue crosshair, indicating the scanning area. Another image shows the same setup with a green checkmark, signifying readiness.

Click the "Initial" button.

Move the object away and scan the turntable only. Initialization is successful when the turntable turns red. This process typically takes 1-2 seconds.

Step 3: Scan

Ensure the object is centered on the turntable and click "Scan" to start automatic scanning. The turntable will turn red automatically when scanning ends.

Step 4: Append

To achieve a complete scan, you can scan the object in different postures. Change the object's position on the turntable, then click "Append" and "Scan" for each posture. The software will automatically scan the next posture.

Step 5: Align

Align the scanning results from different postures. Make the models visible by selecting the scanning data, then click "Align" for automatic alignment. Check the alignment result. If unsatisfied, click "Manual" to perform manual alignment.

The interface shows two models being aligned, with options for 'Append', 'Align', and 'Reset'. A dialog box prompts to select data for processing.

Step 6: Process

Once alignment is complete, click "Process" for automatic data processing. Configuration options are available before processing.

Processing Options:

  1. Fusion: Combines data points to create a digital terrain model.
  2. Remove Noises: Automatically removes unwanted data points.
  3. Repair: Fills holes in scanned areas. (Caution: Do not use for objects with only one visible surface, like a human face.)
  4. Simplify: Adjusts the density of the mesh. Recommended grid face counts are 1-2 million for objects around 1000mm and 800,000 for objects around 300mm.
  5. TextureMapping: Maps photographic textures onto the model.

After processing, click "Apply" to activate automatic processing. Finally, go to "File" > "Export" to save your data in OBJ or STL format.

11 In the Handheld Mode

Step 1: Preview

Click "Preview". A 10-second countdown begins, during which you can adjust brightness, distance, and scanning angle.

The interface displays the 3D model, scan settings, and a preview window.

Step 2: Scan

During the scanning process, move the scanner within the maximum scanning area. If tracking is lost, retrieve the lost area by scanning previously scanned areas using the global relocation function.

Similar to turntable mode, you can scan the model in different postures for a complete result.

Step 3: Remove The Basement

Enter the edit mode.

Hold the Ctrl key and the left mouse button to select areas of the basement.

Right-click and choose "selection plane" to calculate the entire basement. The basement will turn red upon selection.

The software interface shows various selection tools: All Selection, Reverse Selection, Boundary Selection, Basement Selection, Clear Selection.

Step 4: Process

Click "Process", rename your project, and save it. Then click "Apply" to activate automatic processing.

Finally, go to "File" > "Export" to save your data in OBJ or STL format.
