System Overview: 1838 AC Multimeter Connections
The system diagram illustrates the connections for the 1838 AC Multimeter. It shows how to connect two AC shore power inputs (Shore 1 AC and Shore 2 AC) to the unit. Voltage inputs (AC1 H, AC1 N, AC2 H, AC2 N) are connected to the AC supply via fuses. Current transformers are used for AC current measurements (AC1 Amps, AC2 Amps). The unit also features a USB port, relay outputs, and DC power connections (DC Ground, DC Supply 8V-70V). An optional transformer and LED indicators are also depicted.
Example Readings:
- Shore 1 AC: 119 V, 4.5 A, 60 Hz, 0.53 kW
- Shore 2 AC: 120 V, 5.5 A, 61 Hz, 0.66 kW
- 120/240 AC (when enabled): 239 V, 4.5 A, 5.5 A, 60 Hz, 61 Hz, 0.53 kW, 0.66 kW, 1.20 kW
Note: The 120/240 AC screen is disabled by default. To enable it, navigate through the menu: Menu > 120/240 Setup > Enable.
Installation Steps
- Choose the meter mounting style and location.
- Turn off AC power before proceeding.
- Prepare the mounting hole using the provided cutout templates.
- Refer to the wiring diagram:
- Install the provided 150A/50mA Current Transformer.
- Make all connections to the meter's connector.
- Do not insert fuses into fuse holders at this time.
- Plug the wired terminal block into the meter.
- Insert fuses into the fuse holders, ensuring the fuse for Pin 2 (DC Supply) is inserted last.
- Turn on AC power.
Basic Meter Setup
- If using the included 150A/50mA Current Transformer, no additional setup is required.
- If monitoring only one AC Line, you may disable the unused inputs to prevent them from being displayed.
- For information regarding advanced setup options, consult the full instructions available on the Blue Sea Systems website.
Mounting Options and Templates
The M2 OLED Digital Monitor can be mounted using either a flat mount or a surface mount configuration.
Flat Mount:
This method involves flush mounting the unit into a panel. The required cutout is approximately 3.03 inches (77mm) square. Components involved include the M2 Head Unit, Flat Mount Bezel, Clamp, Mounting Ring, and Nut.
Surface Mount:
This method involves mounting the unit onto a surface. The required cutout is a circular hole with a diameter of approximately 2.125 inches (54mm). Components involved include the M2 Head Unit, Surface Mount Bezel and Seal, Gasket, Cover, Mounting Ring, and Nut. A gasket and seal are used to ensure protection from the environment.
Mounting Dimensions:
- Flat Mount: 3.34" (84.8mm) height x 3.03" (77mm) width.
- Surface Mount: 3.46" (87.9mm) height x 3.40" (86.5mm) width.
