DocumentDocumentDFK KITS INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ASPEN DOWNFLOW KIT (DFK) 1. APPLICATION For use on models A(B/F) M, A(A/E) M. The Downflow Kit is applied in Downflow / Counter flow application of the Multi-Position air handler unit. Downflow application takes in air from the top of the unit. The kit includes four parts: Coil Access Panel, Control Access Panel, Block Off Plate, Filter Rails-Side and Back(Style-2). The Procedure require the installer to remove coil assembly and re-installed with kit parts for downflow application. Figure 1 shows air handler unit as a factory-built configuration and Figure 2 shows the air handler unit after re-configuring with downflow application. List of parts for Style 1 is shown in Table 2 and Style 2 is shown in Table 3. The downflow kit parts are shown in figure 2. List of the discard parts are shown in Table 4. INSTALLATION List of down flow kit available for each model shown in the table 1 below. Make sure all the power has been CAUTION disconnected from the air handler before initiating work. Installation and service must be performed WARNING by a licensed professional installer. Improper installation can cause personal injury, loss of life or damage to property. Use two or more persons when shifting WARNING and installing the unit. Failure to do so may result in back or other type of injuries. STEP 1: Remove the coil access panel 1 ,control access panel 2,filter cover 4 and air filter 5.Remove the A-coil assembly 6 with side drain pan 3 as shown in figure 3. After installing coil deck properly, slide the coil assembly back as shown in figure 7. FIGURE 4 STEP 3: For STYLE 1 downflow kit ,rotate the filter rails 180° and reinstalled the filter rails. After fastening filter rails, slide the air filter back as shown in figure 5. For STYLE 2,Fasten the Filter Rails D and E to the wrapper and slide the air filter back as shown in figure 5. STYLE 1 STYLE 2 FIGURE 7 STEP 6: Install and fasten the filter cover first,then the control access panel B and last will be coil Access panel A to the unit as shown in figure 8. FIGURE 5 FILTER RAILS AND FILTER INSTALLATION STEP 4: Add Block Off Plate C on the both side of coil as shown in figure 6.
