Common Issues and Answers for AD20 & AD20 Pro

1. How to use this device?

  1. Download the "Advancer AD20" app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Follow the on-screen prompts to enable location and Bluetooth permissions.
  2. Enable permissions: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Bluetooth/Location, then enable Advancer AD20.
  3. Enter your email account and a 6-digit password. Ensure the email address is correct, without spaces or incorrect letters (case-sensitive).
  4. Scan & Pair Device: Scan the QR code on your AD20.
  5. Plug the AD20 into your vehicle's OBD2 port and pair it with your vehicle. Ensure the ignition switch is in the "ON" position.
  6. Start the vehicle engine and begin the diagnosis.

2. It says failed to send code when I forget the password.

Please ensure the app has network access.

3. Bluetooth connection issue

Please check the following:

4. Can it work on vehicles with VIN that is not 17-digit?

Try entering your vehicle information manually first to see if it can be paired successfully. If it doesn't work, please send the S/N of your device and the VIN of your vehicle to tech support at xtoolofficialeur@outlook.com.

5. Can it work with other APPs or other scan tools?

No, the app is tied to the device, and other apps or devices are not compatible.

6. Downloaded app goes straight to sign-in page, I don't see any way to register to start account.

Registration and login share the same page. An unregistered email address will automatically register an account the first time you log in. See the screenshot for reference.

7. I cannot perform "In-depth check" the first time I use it.

Please connect the device to the Internet/Wi-Fi. The diagnostic software will be downloaded automatically when performing the "In-depth check" for the first time.

8. Unable to scan any vehicles. It comes up with "load diagnosis pack failed". Bluetooth and network are fine.

Please send the S/N of your device and the VIN to the support team so they can investigate the issue.

9. I can use it on several cars, but it failed to scan my friend's car.

The software for some new or rare vehicles may not be developed yet. Please send the S/N of your device and the vehicle information/VIN to check compatibility.

10. It cannot read codes. I have lights on the dashboard.

AD20 Pro can read codes in all available systems. AD20 can only read codes related to OBD2. For further assistance, please contact support with your S/N and vehicle information/VIN.

11. It cannot clear the codes.

AD20 Pro can clear codes in all available systems. AD20 can only clear codes related to OBD2. Some codes can only be cleared after the faults are eliminated, as this affects driving safety.

12. There is no trouble light on the dashboard, but the code cannot be cleared.

If the code starts with "U", it indicates a communication state and does not require worry. If further assistance is needed, send the S/N and a screenshot of the code.

13. I have repaired the vehicle, but the code still cannot be cleared.

The code will disappear automatically when the ECU detects no faults after a driving cycle, provided the vehicle is truly repaired. Do not worry if the fault is eliminated.

14. Speed/Water temp/oil volume is not accurate because it is different from those on the dashboard.

There might be slight adjustments in live data streams due to vehicle settings. Verify with other scanners. If inaccuracies persist, contact tech support with your S/N and vehicle information/VIN.

15. Cannot read O2 sensor data.

O2 sensor data can generally be accessed via the "O2S Monitoring Test" under the "OBD2" menu. If unavailable, the vehicle may not be configured to send O2 sensor data to the ECU. Contact support with your S/N and VIN for verification.

16. There is no diagnostic reports after scanning.

Diagnostic reports are not included due to product design and cost. A feature to convert data streams to CSV is expected in the future.

17. Can I select the live data streams freely?

This feature is currently only available on Anyscan series and diagnostic tablets.

18. The battery of my car is dead after using the AD20 for a long time.

Reason 1: Low battery may cause multiple fault lights, often indicating low voltage. These can be cleared without affecting vehicle use.

Reason 2: Some vehicles' OBD2 ports may not enter sleep mode even with the ignition off, draining the battery. In such rare cases, unplug the device when not in use. If no power consumption is detected, it can be plugged in permanently.

19. Can I plug this device in the vehicle permanently?

The AD20 consumes less than 1W, so permanent plugging has minimal impact. However, it is recommended to unplug the device if the vehicle is not used for more than 7 days.

20. Some strange codes are pulled out. I cannot clear it.

Please send the S/N of your device and the VIN to engineers for assistance in locating and fixing the issue.

21. Can this device remind me of the faults on the vehicle?

Yes, the "Fault warning" menu in "General settings" under "My info" can alert you to detected DTC codes (OBD2 system only) and coolant overheating.

22. Can I register it with gmail or outlook?

There are no restrictions on registered email types. Contact support if registration fails.

23. It cannot auto-detect my car. Does this mean it is not compatible?

Not necessarily. It might be due to the vehicle being relatively old/rare/new. Try manually selecting your vehicle information. If it still doesn't work, send the S/N and VIN for compatibility checks.

24. Unable to add another car.

Go to "My info", unpair the current vehicle. Then, go to "Pair your car > Add", scan the AD20 QR code again, and plug the AD20 into the new vehicle's OBD2 port to pair. Ensure the ignition is "ON". For tool-related issues, contact the seller via email listed on the Amazon product page (xtooltoolsus@outlook.com) with your Order ID and S/N for tech support.

25. The unit is metric, can I change it to U.S unit?

Yes, navigate to My info > General settings > Unit > U.S. System.

26. Check Engine light is on after plugging the AD20 into the OBD port.

Turn off the ignition, remove the key, exit the vehicle, and lock it remotely. Start the vehicle after an hour. Alternatively, unplug the AD20 and disconnect the vehicle's battery for 5 minutes. Send the S/N for assistance if the issue persists.

27. What if the QR Code wipes off accidentally? Can I still use it?

Each device has a unique QR Code. If you diagnose the same car, it will connect automatically without needing to rescan. For other cars, contact support with your login email to receive a matching QR code. You will need to unpair the previous vehicle and rescan the new QR code.

28. Login Failure: Device has been bound to other users?

Verify that the entered email is identical to the one used previously, as the login system is case-sensitive. If the email is correct and the issue persists, send the S/N and email to tech support.

29. Can I install it on tablets?

The app can be installed on tablets, but the UI may not be optimized as it's designed for phones. Installation on other diagnostic tablets is not supported.

30. It cannot record the trip, no mileage display.

Ensure the device remains plugged in during the entire driving process. Turn off the car and open the app with a network connection. Trip mileage will be uploaded to the cloud server and displayed on the device.

31. What vehicles are compatible with this device?

Most vehicles with a standard OBD2 port are compatible. Contact support with your vehicle's VIN to check compatibility.

32. What trouble codes can it read?

The AD20 can read codes related to OBD2. AD20 Pro can read codes for all available systems.

33. Can I swap to another new car? Or pair it with many vehicles?

Yes, you can pair with multiple vehicles, but you will need to scan the QR code again for each new vehicle. The AD20 is designed for real-time monitoring of a single vehicle's performance.

34. Can I use it in my repair shop?

Yes, but it may not work on all vehicles due to the variety of vehicle types.

35. What's the difference between AD20 and the AD20 Pro?

AD20 reads/clears OBD2 codes, while AD20 Pro reads/clears codes for all systems, including OBD2. AD20 Pro also includes a "Maintenance light reset" function.

36. There is no menu for my vehicle to select.

Try selecting the Manufacturer and Year to see if it can be diagnosed. If not, send the S/N and VIN for tech support.

37. It failed to access the OBD2 or says Bluetooth timeout.

Unplug the device, turn on the ignition, replug the device, turn off Bluetooth and close the app. Then, turn on Bluetooth and open the app to re-activate the device and pair the car.

38. It cannot clear the tire pressure light.

Most tire pressure lights clear automatically after the tire is inflated and with some driving. Some lights require a TPMS Reset.

39. I cannot log in my account anymore.

Check your network connection and try again. Try a different network if possible. Contact support with your device S/N and logged-in email if you need further assistance.
