Radio Installation
This manual provides installation instructions and owner information. It is recommended to have the unit 'BENCH TEST' before installation. Disconnect the negative battery lead before installing any electronic equipment. Remove original knobs and shaft nuts, unplug wiring harnesses and antenna lead, then remove the old radio. Inspect the original radio for signs of water or oil damage, as this is not covered under the new radio warranty.
REAR MOUNTING STRAP OMISSION VOIDS WARRANTY!
Attach the rear mounting strap to the radio and install it from behind the dash. Secure the mounting strap to the dash or firewall. Attach shaft nuts to secure the radio, being careful not to over-torque. Once centered and secured, install the knobs.
Wiring Connections:
- Red Wire (B+): Connect to a switched accessory fuse (OFF when ignition is OFF, ON when ignition is ON or accessory).
- Yellow Wire (Memory B+): Connect to a fuse that is always ON to power the program memory and clock when the radio is off.
- Blue Wire (Power Antenna): Connect to the positive switch terminal of the auto antenna relay or the remote on switch of an amplifier/booster. Important Notice for Semi Auto Antenna: Do not connect to semi-automatic antennas as this can damage the radio's circuit board.
- Black Wire (Ground): Connect to a clean, paint-free area of the vehicle chassis for proper grounding.
- Speaker Wires: Connect positive to positive and negative to negative terminals. A minimum of two speakers is required. Do not connect speaker leads to each other or to vehicle ground. Tape off unused speaker leads.
AUX Input: Use for portable devices with standard headphone outputs. The radio controls the volume for this input.
Low Level Output (Line Out Jacks): For connecting an amplifier. These RCA jacks are for front/rear/subwoofer and will not drive speakers.

Noise Suppression
If electrical noise is present, check ground connections, battery posts, spark plug and distributor leads, and factory noise suppressors. Consider installing a noise filter if necessary.
Sources of Electrical Noise:
- Alternator Noise: High-pitched whine that varies with engine RPM.
- Antenna Noise: Static or crackle, often present when the car is running.
- Ignition Noise: Popping or crackling noise that varies with engine RPM and is present only when the engine is running.
- Accessory Noise: Popping heard when accessories like lights or wipers are switched on.
Elimination:
For Alternator and Accessory Noise, install an L.C. Filter Network (minimum 3 amps) in the power leads. For Antenna Noise, test the antenna lead for breaks or shorts and replace if necessary. For Ignition Noise, inspect spark plug and distributor cables and consider an L.C. Filter Network.
