WrenchStar Multi - Pairing Guide

Getting started with your digital torque wrench.

Pairing with a TCI or TCI Multi Lineside Controller

This section details the process of pairing the WrenchStar Multi with a TCI or TCI Multi Lineside Controller.

Step 1: TCI Home Page

On the TCI/TCI Multi web page in your browser, navigate to the 'Wrench Status' tab on the main navigation menu at the top.

Step 2: Select Wrench Number

Under the 'Get results from transducer' and 'Pair TCI with transducer' dropdown menus, ensure the selected number corresponds to the wrench you are pairing. For example, select '1' for the first wrench, '2' for the second, and so on.

Step 3: Pair Mode

Ensure the WrenchStar Multi is in 'pair' mode by pressing and holding the blue 'pairing' button on the wrench until the LED light turns purple.

Step 4: Pair TCI

Under the 'Pair TCI with transducer' dropdown menu, click 'Pair'. The wrench should connect, confirmed by the LED light turning blue on the wrench and on the corresponding wrench number on the TCI/TCI Multi interface.

Step 5: Entering Jobs

Click on the 'Jobs' tab in the main navigation menu and then click 'Add'.

Step 6: Entering Jobs cont.

Enter the job details, including ID number, Batch size, and Torque Minimum, Target, and Maximum levels. Click 'Submit'.

Step 7: Loading Jobs to the Wrench

Go back to the 'Jobs' tab. Ensure the correct 'Transducer number' is selected from the dropdown menu (e.g., Transducer 1 for Wrench 1).

Select the correct 'Job' from the dropdown menu and click 'Load' to transfer the job to the wrench.

Step 9: Ready to Measure

The WrenchStar Multi is now ready to measure torque. Upon completion, the screen will display 'Wait'.

TCI & TCI Multi Line-side Controller

Crane Electronics' TCI (tool control interface) lineside controllers allow users to connect up to five wrenches for assembly production and operator guidance systems.

Pairing with an IQVu Data Collector

This section outlines the steps for pairing the WrenchStar Multi with an IQVu Data Collector.

Step 1: Setup of Jobs on the IQVu

On the IQVu Home Screen, select the ‘Jobs’ icon, then click the 'Add a Job' icon and swipe the screen to the left.

Unlock the padlock. Fill in the Job name and Job description fields. Select required settings like 'Store graph', 'Direction', and '2nd param'. Lock the padlock and click the 'Save' icon.

Press unlock again. Fill in the bar at the top to search for joints or input a new joint index. Enter values for USL, Target, LSL, and Threshold relevant to your Wrench size. Lock the padlock and click 'Save' to return to the main 'Jobs' screen.

Step 4: Select Job

On the 'Jobs' screen, select the previously entered job. You then need to pair your wrench to proceed.

Step 5: Pair Mode

Ensure the WrenchStar Multi is in 'pair' mode by pressing and holding the blue 'pairing' button until the LED light turns purple.

Step 6: Pairing on the IQVu

On the IQVu, select a row (e.g., 'RF1') and press 'Pair' from the 'Actions' box. Successful pairing is indicated by a row of information appearing in yellow on the transducer selection screen.

The WrenchStar Multi LED will change from purple to blue. Select the highlighted row on the IQVu screen; it will turn green and display 'connected', leading you to the job.

Step 8: Connected Wrench

The Green-Amber-Red sequence on the WrenchStar Multi light ring confirms a successful connection. The LED display on the Wrench will show the number of 'Jobs' ready.

Step 9: Ready to Measure

The WrenchStar Multi is now ready to measure torque. Once the job is completed, the screen display will read 'Wait'.

Pairing with a TorqueStar Pro Data Collector

This section details how to pair the WrenchStar Multi with a TorqueStar Pro Data Collector.

Step 1: Setup of Jobs on the TorqueStar Pro

On the TorqueStar Pro Home Screen, select the ‘Jobs’ icon using the directional arrows and the green 'accept' key. Then, select the 'Add a Job' icon using the relevant function soft key.

Enter the job name and job description. Use the directional arrows and the green 'accept' key to select boxes and the on-screen keyboard to input text. Press the 'Save' function key upon completion.

Step 3: Select Job Settings

With the saved job highlighted, press the 'Settings' function soft key to access the job settings.

Step 4: Select 'Transducer'

On the 'Jobs Settings' screen, press the 'Transducer' function soft key to access the transducer pairing screen.

Step 5: Select RF Settings

On the 'Transducer' screen, select the RF settings icon using the function soft key. The TorqueStar Pro is now ready to pair with your WrenchStar Multi.

Ensure the WrenchStar Multi is in 'pair' mode by pressing and holding the blue 'pairing' button until the LED light turns purple.

Step 7: Select the Wrench

The WrenchStar Multi information will appear on screen, and its LED light will turn blue. Select the wrench using the green 'accept' key.

The WrenchStar Multi is now ready to measure torque. Once the job is completed, the screen display will read 'Wait'.
