Safety Instructions and Approval Safety Instructions Warranty Read t he inst allat ion guide t horoughly bef ore you set up t he rout er. The rout er is a complicat ed elect ronic unit t hat may be repaired only be aut horized and qualif ied personnel. Do not t ry t o open or repair t he rout er yourself . Do not place t he rout er in a damp or humid place, e. g. a bat hroom. Do not st ack t he rout ers. The rout er should be used in a shelt ered area, wit hin a t emperat ure range of +5 t o +40 Celsius. Do not expose t he rout er t o direct sunlight or ot her heat sources. The housing and elect ronic component s may be damaged by direct sunlight or heat sources. Do not deploy t he cable f or LAN connect ion out door t o prevent elect ronic shock hazards. Do not power of f t he device when saving conf igurat ions or f irmware upgrades. It may damage t he dat a in a f lash. Please disconnect t he Int ernet connect ion on t he device bef ore powering it of f when a TR-069/ ACS server manages t he device. Keep t he package out of reach of children. When you want t o dispose of t he rout er, please f ollow local regulat ions on conservat ion of t he environment . We warrant t o t he original end user (purchaser) t hat t he rout er will be f ree f rom any def ect s in workmanship or mat erials f or a period of t wo (2) years f rom t he dat e of purchase f rom t he dealer. Please keep your purchase receipt in a saf e place as it serves as proof of dat e of purchase. During t he warrant y period, and upon proof of purchase, should t he product have indicat ions of f ailure due t o f ault y workmanship and/ or mat erials, we will, at our discret ion, repair or replace t he def ect ive product s or component s, wit hout charge f or eit her part s or labor, t o what ever ext ent we deem necessary t ore-st ore t he product t o proper operat ing condit ion. Connect ors f or remot e net work devices or local net work devices (WAN/ LAN) wit h t he rat e of 1G/ 100M/ 10M bps. Connect er f or local net work devices (LAN) wit h t he rat e of 1G/ 100M/ 10M bps. The Fact ory Reset but t on is used t o rest ore t he def ault set t ings. Turn on t he rout er (ACT LED is blinking). Press t he hole and keep f or more t han 5 seconds. When you see t he ACT LED begins t o blink rapidly t han usual, release t he but t on. Then t he rout er will rest art wit h t he f act ory def ault conf igurat ion. Connect er f or a power cord. ON/ OFF - Power swit ch. The port s " P3 t o P6" are swit chable. It can be used f or LAN connect ion or WAN connect ion according t o t he set t ings conf igured in WUI. 3 3. Hardw are Installation This sect ion will guide you t o inst all t he rout er t hrough hardware connect ion and conf igure t he rout er' s set t ings t hrough web browser. 3.1 Connecting Device Bef ore st art ing t o conf igure t he rout er, you have t o connect your devices correct ly. 1. Connect a modem t o any WAN port of Vigor1000B wit h Et hernet cable (RJ-45) t o access Int ernet . 2. Connect t he ot her end of t he cable (RJ-45) t o t he Et hernet port on your comput er (t hat device also can connect t o ot her comput ers t o f orm a small area net work). The LAN LED f or t hat port on t he f ront panel will light up. 3. Connect a server/ rout er (depends on your requirement ) t o any WAN port of Vigor1000B wit h Et hernet cable (RJ-45). The WAN LED will light up. 4. Connect t he power cord t oVigor1000B' s power port on t he rear panel, and t he ot her side int o a wall out let . 5. Power on t he device by pressing down t he power swit ch on t he rear panel. The PWR LED should be ON. 6. The syst em st art s t o init iat e. Af t er complet ing t he syst em t est , t he ACT LED will light up and st art blinking. Below shows an out line of t he hardware inst allat ion f or your ref erence. 4 3 .2 Ra c k -M ount e d I nst a lla t ion The Vigor1000B can be mount ed on t he shelf by using st andard bracket s shown bel ow . 1. Fast en t he rack mount kit on bot h sides of t he Vigor rout er using specif ic scr ew s. 2. Then, inst all t he Vigor rout er (wit h rack mount kit ) on t he 19-inch chassis by using ot her f our screws. 5 4. Softw are Configuration To access Int ernet , please f inish basic conf igurat ion af t er complet ing t he hardware inst allat ion. 4.1 Quick Start Wizard for Netw ork Connection Make sure your PC connect s t o t he rout er correct ly. Not e You may eit her simply set up your comput er t o get IP dynamically f rom t he rout er or set up t he IP address of t he comput er t o be t he same subnet as the default IP address of Vigor router 192. 168. 1. 1. For t he det ailed inf ormat ion, please ref er t o Trouble Shoot ing of t he user' s guide. Open a web browser on your PC and t ype http:/ / 192. 168. 1. 1. A pop-up window will open t o ask f or username and password. Please t ype " admin/ admin" as t he Username/ Password and click Login. Not e If you f ail t o access t o t he web conf igurat ion, please go t o " Trouble Shoot ing" on User' s Guide f or det ect ing and solving your problem. 6 Now, t he Main Screen will pop up. Click Wizards>>Quick Start Wizard. If your rout er can be under an environment wit h high speed NAT, t he conf igurat ion provide here can help you t o deploy and use t he rout er quickly. The f irst screen of Quick Start Wizard is ent ering login password. Af t er t yping t he password, please click Next. 7 On t he next page as shown below, please select t he WAN int erf ace t hat you use. Then click Next f or next st ep. You have t o select t he appropriat e Int ernet access t ype (PPPoE, St at ic IP or DHCP) according t o t he inf ormat ion f rom your ISP. Here we t ake PPPoE and DHCP modes f or WAN connect ion as examples. 8 For PPPoE Connection 1. Choose WAN3 as WAN Int erf ace and click t he Next but t on; you will get t he f ollowing page. 2. Select PPPoE and click Next t o get t he f ollowing page. 9 3. Ent er t he Username/ Password provided by your ISP. Then click Next f or viewing t he summary of such connect ion. 4. Click Finish. A page of Quick Start Wizard Setup OK!!! will appear. Then, t he syst em st at us of t his prot ocol will be shown. 5. Now, you can enj oy surf ing on t he Int ernet . 10 For DHCP Connection 1. Choose WAN3 as WAN Int erf ace and click t he Next but t on; you will get t he f ollowing page. 2. Select DHCP and click Next t o get t he f ollowing page. 11 3. Ent er t he host name and / or MAC address provided by your ISP. Then click Next f or viewing summary of such connect ion. 4. Click Finish. A page of Quick Start Wizard Setup OK!!! will appear. Then, t he syst em st at us of t his prot ocol will be shown. 5. Now, you can enj oy surf ing on t he Int ernet . 12 5.
