ABB Electrical Integration Pavilion

Electrical integration is the next frontier in delivering a unified environment that drives improvements in productivity, increased safety, and reduced cost over the total lifecycle of a process plant. By delivering a unified architecture based on standards and recognized fieldbus protocols, ABB delivers a system where components from high and medium voltage substation equipment, medium voltage switchgear, drives, valves, and instrumentation are seamlessly integrated with the process control system. This provides benefits such as:

The Electrical Integration exhibit offers a glimpse into the future and examples of what can be accomplished today with electrical integration and System 800xA - ABB's state-of-the-art extended automation system.

Significant, value-added integration between electrical equipment and process automation systems at ABB has already been achieved with System 800xA. Two examples shown in this exhibit are:

ABB's vision for the future of Electrical Integration is presented via a Power Management System running in a highly reliable System 800xA environment. Running the Power Management System in this common environment removes duality and additional lifecycle costs, allowing for more comprehensive asset management solutions that improve productivity, energy usage, and process uptime. This application uses Industrial Ethernet, enabling various IEDs and process control equipment to harmoniously co-exist, further reducing design, project, and installation costs. Protocols such as IEC61850, PROFINET, and Fieldbus Foundation are used to integrate REF615 Feeder Relays, MNSiS Low Voltage Switchgear, ACS800 and ACS550 series drives, AC800M Controllers, S800 I/O, and FF instrumentation.

Value Added and Industry Solutions from ABB

Chemical and Life Sciences

ABB's message for Chemicals and Life Sciences is "One vendor...one technology." The booth features industry-targeted solutions supporting Ethanol, GMP requirements, Facility Automation, integrated analytical data, and API manufacturing with Batch Management, all using a single framework. This common framework reduces costs of training, documentation, maintenance, and engineering, leading to simplified regulatory compliance.

ABB's Industrial IT for PAT: A successful Process Analytical Technology (PAT) system requires more than a collection of analyzers, models, historians, and control systems; it needs to integrate system operations, manage data, and ensure proper communication. Effective PAT solutions integrate system operations from analyzer to data manager, interface with multiple vendor analyzers and control systems, and store spectral and scalar data into a central relational database. ABB's IIT for PAT is a robust system that meets these requirements with lower costs for design, setup, validation, and maintenance, using reusable, configurable library modules, mature technology, and built-in interfaces.
