Castle Creations Mamba Monster X 8S Quick Start Guide
This guide provides essential information for setting up and operating the Mamba Monster X 8S Electronic Speed Control (ESC).
About the Mamba Monster X 8S
The Mamba Monster X 8S is designed for 1/6 scale RC vehicles weighing up to 25 lbs. It is capable of handling significant power, but it is crucial to use a motor that matches its capabilities. Always monitor motor, battery, and controller temperatures, ensuring the motor does not exceed 100° C (212° F) to prevent damage.
For optimal performance and longevity, start with the manufacturer's recommended gearing. If you adjust gearing, motor, or battery, frequently check motor temperatures. If the motor overheats, increase the spur gear size, decrease the pinion gear size, or reduce the battery pack voltage.
The Mamba Monster X 8S is programmable via transmitter using the Driver's Ed Guide, or through a computer using a Castle Link USB adapter. It can also be programmed using a mobile device with a Castle B-Link Bluetooth® Adapter or a Castle Field Link Portable Programmer (sold separately).
Data logging is a key feature, allowing you to measure and record power system information during operation. This data can be downloaded and analyzed using Castle Link to inspect parameters like battery voltage, motor RPM, and ESC temperature. More details on data logging can be found in the Driver's Ed Guide.

Product Use Statement
- Applying voltages higher than 33.6V will cause irreparable damage to your controller.
- Recommended battery capacity for this ESC is 5000mAh or larger. Use 30C continuous discharge or higher LiPo batteries, or high-quality 25C batteries.
- The Mamba Monster X 8S has 6.5mm bullet connectors. Battery input wires are bare; solder your preferred connector rated for 70+ amps.
- This ESC is not intended for human or animal propulsion.
*Failure to adhere to the Product Use Statement may void the warranty and incur service fees for repairs.
Getting Started
- Solder a high-quality battery connector to the ESC (refer to Driver's Ed Guide for "Connectors and Power Wiring").
- Mount the ESC and motor into the vehicle.
- Connect the motor to the ESC (refer to Driver's Ed Guide for "Motor Wiring").
- Plug the RX wire into the throttle (#2) channel on your receiver and the AUX wire into the auxiliary (#3/#4) channel.
You are now ready to go!
Receiver Connection
RX Wire: Plug the RX wire into the throttle (#2) channel on your receiver.
AUX Wire: The AUX wire allows for on-the-fly setting adjustments using an auxiliary channel on your receiver. This function is disabled by default and can be programmed via Castle Link. Plug this wire into an auxiliary channel (#3/#4) on your receiver.
Throttle Calibration
- Ensure the radio is on, the battery is plugged in, and the ESC is off.
- Hold full throttle and turn the ESC on (indicated by a green LED).
- When the red LED flashes, move the throttle to full reverse.
- When the yellow LED flashes, move the throttle to neutral.
- The system is now armed and ready.
