Controls & Installation

Once connected to an active power outlet, the device will activate automatically.

During the start-up process of the device, the step-motors of the moving heads shall fully calibrate before returning to their `0' position. It is possible that the moving heads shake slightly and emit a rattling noise during this process. This is normal and will have no negative effect on the lifespan of the device.

During the calibration process, the device cannot be used. As soon as the device has completed the start-up process, it shall return to the most recently selected mode. Now, the operating mode and other settings can be selected/adjusted via the menu buttons and display.

If a DMX signal is detected, the device will automatically set itself to DMX mode and the last used DMX address shall be displayed. When using the device for the first time, the DMX address is normally `001'. The DMX address can be changed via the menu buttons.

Via the display and menu buttons, the functions and settings of the device can be changed. Here, the `Enter' button confirms a function, while the `Up' and `Down' buttons change values and the `Menu' button takes you back to the main menu. After making any changes, the Menu button can be held for 2 seconds so that the device returns to operating mode and the new settings are saved. This can be done after changing the operating mode or DMX address. If the Menu button is not held to save any settings adjustments, the device will automatically save any new settings a few seconds after they have been confirmed.

The menu includes the following options and functions:

Please find an explanation of every function included below:
ADDR: Via this function, the DMX start address of the device can be set. When the device is set to DMX channel 001, it will respond to all commands from DMX channel 1. When the device is set to DMX channel 002, it will respond to all commands from DMX channel 1, and so on.
CHAN: This device features various DMX channel modes. If you are using a DMX chain full of other lighting fixtures and effects and you do not require extensive DMX control over every function, a simple DMX mode can be selected. A more extensive channel mode can also be selected, making more channels available, where each channel controls a separate function.
SLND: The Master-Slave mode can be used to synchronise the performance of multiple fixtures. When devices are chained in master-slave mode, a copy of the internal programme is passed on to the next device in the chain, so that all devices respond at the same time. A master-slave chain can be set up using standard 3-pin XLR DMX cables, which can be connected to the DMX port. The first device in the chain (the `master') passes the signal onto the next device and so on.
NOTE: When Slave mode is active, the device will wait for a signal from the Master device. Selecting an automatic or music-controlled mode is not possible! To adjust the setting, go to the SLND setting in the menu, and change it to `NAST'. This puts the device into Master mode again, so all of the stand-alone function can be activated.
AUTO: Select one of the built-in programmes and set the speed of the programme. This sets the device to perform a selected programme at a fixed speed.
SOUN: The standard `Show' mode responds to detected music and is therefore different from Auto mode. Here, you can select a programme and the device will perform the programme in time to detected music. The device detects music via an integrated microphone with adjustable sensitivity.
SENS: Here, the sensitivity of the integrated microphone can be set so that the device is able to clearly detect any music and respond in time to the beat. The microphone sensitivity can be set between values `0' (min.) and `100' (max.).
PAN/TILT: Independently invert the pan and/or tilt values so that the motors move in precisely the opposite direction. This can be set per head and per pan and tilt signal as needed.
DSIG: This is the signal fall-back function, where a fall-back function can be set so that, in the event that the external input signal is interrupted, the device continues to perform. The selectable fall-back functions are as follows: Auto: Switches the device to an automatic show Hold: The device retains the most recently received signal Blac: The device is set to `blackout' (all values are auto set to `0': no light output)
LED: When the LED display is not in use, it can be switched off. This function can be activated by setting the LED mode to `OFF'. When set to `OFF', the red display symbols will not light up in darker environments. When you press any of the menu buttons once, the display will light up and show the necessary info. When the menu is not used for 30 seconds, the display will automatically switch off again.
DISP: This function dictates whether the information on the display is displayed normally, or is inverted. When the device is suspended, it can be harder to read the display. When inverted, the display is flipped upside down so that the display can be easily read.
TEST: When the device is undergoing maintenance or needs to be inspected, the TEST function can be used to test one or more of the devices at the same time. The device will then perform a programme that activates the step motor function and LEDs so that any deviations or defects can be detected. The device will continue to perform the programme until it is manually interrupted (for example: when the device is switched to sound-controlled mode).
VER: Here, the firmware version is displayed. This cannot be altered by the end user.

Operating Modes

A more detailed description of all of the different functions that can be accessed via the menu as described above is included below:

Auto: In Automatic mode, the device will respond to all pre-selected parameters at a fixed speed. In this mode, the device requires no external input i.e. a DMX master-slave signal, or detected sound via the integrated microphone.
Sound: In Sound-controlled mode or Sound mode, the device uses the integrated microphone to detect sound/music and performs a selected programme in time to the beat. The device will then move in close-to perfect time to music and provide an automatic light show.
When no sound/music is detected (for example: because there is a natural break in the music, where the lower frequencies (bass) are less prominent) the device will perform the selected programme at a much slower speed. This ensures that the light show continues uninterrupted. As soon as sound/music is detected again by the microphone, the device will continue to perform the programme in time to the beat.
Slave In Slave mode, it is possible to link multiple devices of the same type so that they perform in time with one another (or move in opposite directions, depending on the pan/tilt invert settings). Using Slave mode results in a more coordinated light show, rather than allowing each device to perform a different set of movements/effects, which can appear chaotic. In principle, an unlimited number of Slave devices can be chained from a Master device at the start of the chain, but a DMX signal booster will be required. In general, up to four devices can be chained without any issues.
Note: When the device is chained with a different type of device or a device made by a different brand, even if they appear to have the same functions, can result in strange device behaviour. This is usually because specific functions are linked to the incorrect channels. This applies to all DMX lighting of all brands and types.

DMX DMX mode is the most extensive control method, since it grants direct control over every function this unit has to offer. In DMX mode, a limited number to a large number of functions can be controlled via a DMX controller or DMX software.

This unit can be set to various different channel modes so that the channel layout, as listed below, matches the layout of your DMX circuit and with the functions that you actually need.

Power Supply The Ayra ERO Motion Heads 4RGBW-10 Light Effect is equipped with a power input so that the device can be supplied with power and a power output so that the device can be chained with and pass on power to other fixtures, without the need to use more than one mains power point.

Both the power inputs and outputs of the Ayra ERO Motion Heads 4RGBW-10 Light Effect can operate via. A maximum power of 16 A. The maximum power consumption of the device must also be deducted from this value. With the addition of a narrow safety margin, the power output of the ERO Motion Heads 4RGBW-10 can withstand the following loads:

Max. 13 A at 100 V. Max. 14 A at 240 V.

In practice, this is more than sufficient enough to power a chain of the same devices from the same mains power point.

Please note that the pre-installed fuse of the ERO Motion Heads 4RGBW-10 is only intended to protect the device itself, and does not protect any chained devices. The power output is not fused.

Installation & Connection Instructions

Now you know how the Ayra ERO Motion Heads 4RGBW-10 works. The instructions below can be followed to install and connect the device. Following these instructions will not only ensure that you can get the most out of the device, but that the device can be used as safely as possible.
Ensure that no children are able to access the device or any connecting cables and always ensure that any children that are present during the use of the device are properly supervised. Because this device can be installed in a suspended or free-standing position, it is possible that children pull on the connecting cables, causing the device to fall, which may result in injury. This risk must be taken into account when positioning and/or installing the device.
Floor-Standing Use When the Ayra ERO Motion Heads 4RGBW-10 is set up in a floor-standing position, make sure that it is placed on a stable surface, such as a table, DJ booth or bar. The base of the ERO Motion Heads 4RGBW-10 has been fitted with rubber feet to provide ample grip on a level surface. While the device does move considerably during operation, it is heavy enough to remain stable as long as the surface on which it is placed is stable enough.
Stand Mounting (35 mm adapter) The Ayra ERO Motion Heads 4RGBW-10 is fitted with a centrally placed stand adapter. Via this adapter, the device can be mounted on a compatible lighting/speaker stand. When mounting the device on the stand, ensure that the tightening knob is firmly tightened but without applying too much force. This will ensure that the device is properly secured and held in the correct position.
Ensure that the legs and feet of the stand you are using are fully extended so that the weight of the device is distributed across as wide a floor space as possible. The higher the stand is set, the higher the centre of gravity and the greater the chance that the stand and the device will topple over. Please take care when adjusting the height of the stand you are using.
Suspended Use (brackets) When suspending the Ayra ERO Motion Heads 4RGBW-10, always use the special quick-coupling brackets included. These fit in the gold-coloured dishes found on the underside of the device. Place the brackets and the quick-couplers on the dishes and securely slot the pins in the holes by (if necessary) rotating the quickcoupler. If correctly secured, the coupler will drop into the hole and can be locked in place by a quarter-turn to the right. Some force is sometimes required here, and pressing the tightening button can help.
When using a half-coupler or G-hook in combination with the included brackets, it can be secured before mounting the brackets onto the device. Standard couplers and/or G-hooks that are compatible with 35 mm or 50 mm truss/stand tubes are available from your local retailer.
The hardware required to mount the Ayra ERO Motion Heads 4RGBW-10 on a wall, ceiling or beam is not included. Contact a technician if you are not sure what hardware you require to install the device. A wooden slat wall and stone wall will require different installation hardware.
When installing the Ayra ERO Motion Heads 4RGBW-10 in a suspended position, a safety cable must be used to secure the unit. A safety cable does not come included but will be available via your local retailer. The Ayra ERO Motion Heads 4RGBW-10 features an eyelet, to which the hook of a safety cable can be secured. The safety cable must then be looped over the truss or stand the unit is suspended from before being reattached to the hook. This way, if one or both of the brackets should fail and come loose, the safety cable will prevent the unit from falling.
A safety cable that's able to bear at least 10x the weight of the unit must be used. The safety cable must be installed so that the unit is unable to fall any further than 30 cm. To ensure this, the safety cable can be wrapped around the truss or stand to shorten the length as needed. The shorter the fall-distance allowed by the safety cable, the more the chance of damage or injury is reduced.
Light Source The Ayra ERO Motion Heads 4RGBW-10 features extremely powerful LED light modules, coupled with a

special lens that intensifies the effect. Never look into the lens of the device from a short distance as the human eye is forced to react too quickly to the sudden intensity of light. Normally, this will not cause permanent injury, but will cause blind spots, impairing vision for a short period of time and causing disorientation and discomfort.
Cooling The Ayra ERO Motion Heads 4RGBW-10 is cooled by fans located in the main housing and in each moving head. These will activate automatically as soon as the device is switched on. Always ensure that the fans and ventilation slots are never blocked and regularly check that they are functioning properly. Dust and other elements such as synthetic smoke (precipitated smoke fluid) can affect the functioning and lifespan of the unit.
Parts & Repairs No spare parts are commercially available for this device, and therefore it cannot be repaired by the user. In case of any defect, always have the device inspected and repaired by a qualified technician.
Cleaning & Maintenance The exterior housing of the device must be cleaned with a dry or lightly moist microfibre cloth on a monthly basis. Ensure that the device is unplugged from the power source before cleaning or performing any maintenance.
Check that no screws are missing and that all screws are well secured. Tighten any screws where needed. Check that no corrosion is present on any metal parts of the device. If any corrosion is present, the device must be properly inspected.
