NEO-TEC Chainsaw Quick Start Guide: Starting Instructions

NEO-TEC Chainsaw: Quick Start Guide

Follow these instructions to safely start your NEO-TEC gas chainsaw.

Master Control Lever Positions

The Master Control lever is crucial for operating the chainsaw. Familiarize yourself with its positions:

Note: The lever may automatically move to position 'I' after certain starting steps, often indicated by a distinct "Pop, pop, pop" sound.

Starting Procedure

Before proceeding, ensure you are wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and have read the full user manual.

Step 1: Initial Preparation

Place the chainsaw on a stable, flat surface. Locate the fuel cap (labeled 1 in diagrams) and remove it by pulling it upwards (indicated by arrow 2).

Step 2: Set the Master Control Lever

Identify the Master Control lever (labeled 5 in diagrams). For a cold engine, move the lever to the 'Cold start' position (|–|). For a warm engine, move it to the 'Warm start' position ()(.

Step 3: Prime the Engine

Step 3.1: Pull the starter rope firmly several times (typically 3-5 pulls). This action primes the engine with fuel.

Step 3.2: Listen carefully. When you hear a distinct "pop, pop, pop" sound, immediately stop pulling the starter rope.

Step 4: Adjust Lever for Starting

Following the priming sequence and the "pop, pop, pop" sound, ensure the Master Control lever is correctly positioned for starting (either 'Cold start' or 'Warm start', as selected in Step 2).

Step 5: Engage Starter Mechanism

Perform the action indicated by the diagram, which involves engaging a specific control mechanism (visual shows a hand pressing a lever or button) to prepare the starter for the subsequent pull.

Step 6: Start the Engine

Pull the starter rope firmly again, approximately 2 to 5 times. The engine should now start.

Step 7: Transition to Idle

Once the engine has started, press down on the throttle trigger lockout (a safety mechanism integrated with the throttle) and then briefly squeeze the throttle trigger (labeled 2). The Master Control lever (labeled 1) should automatically move to the 'Operating position I', and the engine will settle into an idle speed.

Step 8: Release the Chain Brake

To prepare the chainsaw for cutting, pull the front hand guard (the protective shield located above the front handle) towards the handlebar. This action disengages the chain brake.

The chain brake is now released, and the chainsaw is ready for use.

Step 9: Final Check and Operation

Before beginning any work, verify that the oil level is adequate. With all checks complete, you are ready to operate the chainsaw.
