Sharpening
General Instructions
This procedure is fundamental as it determines the quality of the cut, the durability of the blade, and the battery life. The more difficult the cut, the more power your shears use.
- When you observe that cuts are slower or when you feel increased resistance, check and sharpen the blades.
- The frequency of sharpening depends on the wood properties (hardness and diameter), the pruning speed, and the blade sharpness (special stones and oil for sharpening are provided).
- During the initial stages of use, to get an idea of how often sharpening will be necessary, check the blade edge every 15 minutes.
- Adjust the cut and the counter blade clearance to ensure a clean and precise cut. The distance between the blades must be adjusted periodically as friction wears the blades at the point of contact. The retaining nut is designed so that its position can be locked with a clip, allowing for periodic adjustments as needed.
- To adjust the blade appropriately, with approximately 0.03 mm clearance, remove the retaining nut clip, turn the nut clockwise. At the end of the adjustment, lock the nut with the retaining clip.
⚠️ Cleaning and maintenance operations must be performed with the shears switched OFF and battery disconnected.
Sharpening Procedure
To sharpen the blade with the corundum stone included in the maintenance kit, grip the shears parallel to the work surface, with the blade edge facing upwards. Insert the corundum stone between the two blades as illustrated in the photo and, applying light pressure, slide the stone from the inside towards the tip of the blade, always following the blade's edge. Repeat this action several times until a sharp blade is obtained.
