Please Read Prior to Installation
This document provides essential installation and technical information for the YO3 Yodalarm Series. It is crucial to read and understand these instructions before proceeding with installation.
Installation
- Installation must be carried out in accordance with the latest codes of practice by a qualified electrician.
- Verify that the power supply voltage matches the voltage rating of the alarm unit.
- Ensure the power supply is disconnected before commencing installation or maintenance to prevent electrical shock.
- Mount the unit to a wall or bulkhead using the two integrated mounting lugs. These lugs are designed for suitable material.
- The lugs feature a 6mm diameter mounting hole and are spaced 102mm apart.
- A minimum screw length of 25mm is recommended for fixing (screws are not supplied).
- Avoid mounting the alarm in locations subject to excessive vibration levels.
Ingress Protection
To maintain the product's IP rating, observe the following:
- An IP66 cable gland is supplied with the product and must be used. Alternatively, another suitably rated gland may be used.
- When refitting the front cover, ensure each of the four retaining screws is torqued to 0.6Nm ±0.1Nm.
Sound Selection
- Ensure the power supply is OFF before making any adjustments.
- All DC units offer selectable alarm sounds, configurable via the SW1 switch. Refer to the installation sheet for detailed sound descriptions.
- A second stage tone can be activated via a third wire connected to terminal TB1/3, as illustrated in Figure 1.
- Alternatively, the first and second stage sound signals can be generated by reversing the supply polarity. See Figure 1, Option 2 for details.
- Manually selectable second stage tones are available for DC units using switch SW2, if fitted. This feature is typically supplied upon request and not as standard.
Line Integrity on DC Systems
- For 3-wire, 2-stage alarm systems, monitoring is achieved via reverse polarity.
- For 2-wire, 2-stage alarm systems, monitoring is via threshold (applied voltage < 1V). An end-of-line (E.O.L.) resistor is required for line monitoring. This resistor should be a minimum of 3.3k Ohms, 0.5 Watts, and of wire-wound or metal film type.
AC Systems
- Similar to DC units, AC units feature selectable tones via the SW1 DIP switch, as shown in Figure 2.
- A second stage can be activated by applying an additional "N" (Neutral) connection to the TB3 terminal on the PCB, as illustrated in Figure 2. In this configuration, SW-B is used to indicate this stage is activated.
Diagram Descriptions
Figure 1: DC Connection illustrates the wiring for DC units. It shows input terminals, options for stage selection, volume control (RV1), switch settings (SW1, SW2), and terminal blocks (TB1, TB2).
Figure 2: AC Connections details the wiring for AC units. It includes connections for Live (L), Neutral (N), terminal blocks (TB1, TB2, TB3), volume control (RV1), switches (SW1, SW-B), and output (OUT).
Figure 3: Additional Voltage Wiring demonstrates how to wire the sounders for different voltage inputs (24V, 48V, 110V) for both the 1st and 2nd sounder stages, showing switch configurations (SW1, SW2) and terminal connections.
Additional Voltage Options
The Clifford & Snell YO3 series is available in a variety of voltage ranges:
- 24vAC (Voltage code I)
- 24/50vDC (Voltage code BT)
- 48vDC (Voltage code F)
- 110vDC (Voltage code H)
The units are designed for loop-in, loop-out connectivity, allowing two terminals per connection. Always confirm that the correct voltage is applied to the relevant terminals.
