Night Riding
Cyclists should ride at night with extreme caution. Night riding is riskier than day riding because drivers and pedestrians may have difficulty spotting bicyclists in the dark.
Individuals should take extra care when riding at dawn, dusk, or night. Choose suitable apparel and specialized equipment for riding in unfavorable conditions to reduce injury risk.
Warning! Reflectors are not a substitute for required lighting. Cyclists are nearly invisible without proper lights and reflective gear. Use lights and reflectors to enhance visibility at night. Inadequate lighting can cause fatalities or significant injuries. Reflectors are intended to reflect light from cars and streetlights, making you more noticeable.
Caution! Check reflectors and their mounting brackets regularly to ensure they are clean, straight, and securely mounted. Comply with all local laws regarding night riding.
Recommendations for night riding:
- Enhance visibility by wearing light-colored, reflective clothing and accessories (e.g., vests, armbands, leg bands, helmet stripes, blinkers).

- Ensure the bicycle is equipped with reflectors for riding at dawn, dusk, or night.
- Always ride slowly at night.
Assembly and Fit
Correct assembly and fit are essential for safety, performance, and comfort. Even if you have the experience and tools, Fafrees recommends having a certified, reputable bike mechanic check your work and complete any necessary adjustments or tuning.
NOTICE: A critical aspect of assembly is securing the front wheel and checking the tightness of the rear wheel axle nuts. These mounting mechanisms can loosen over time. Inspect all wheel mounting hardware for torque and security upon arrival and regularly. Both wheels must be properly secured before operating the bike.
Mandatory Equipment and Use Locations
Before riding, ensure you have all required safety equipment and follow all laws pertaining to electric bike use in your region. These laws may specify mandatory equipment, use of hand signals, and where you can ride.
Changing Components or Attaching Accessories
Using non-original components or spare parts can jeopardize safety, void your warranty, and may cause non-conformance with laws. Replacing original components or installing third-party accessories not explicitly recommended by Fafrees is at your own risk. Such actions may void your warranty, create unsafe riding conditions, damage property or the bike, or result in serious injury or death.
Safety Check Before Each Ride
Always check your bike's condition before riding, in addition to regular maintenance. If unsure how to perform a complete check, consult a certified, reputable bike mechanic.
Electrical System
The electric system powers several components. Familiarize yourself with all aspects of the electrical system and check its correct operation before each ride. The front and rear brake levers have safety power cutoff switches that disable the hub motor's assistance when applied. Check both levers for correct operation. If brake lever cutoff switches, pedal assistance, or lighting functions abnormally, contact Fafrees Support immediately.
Brakes
Ensure brakes and system components are free from damage, properly secured, and working correctly. When fully squeezed, brake levers should not touch the handlebar. If there is a problem, take your bike to a certified, reputable bike mechanic.
Tires and Wheels
Wheels should spin straight. Repair or replace if they wobble or move up and down when spinning. If wheels become untrue or spokes loosen, a certified mechanic should perform tuning and truing. Do not attempt this without adequate knowledge, tools, and experience.
Ensure tires and inner tubes are in good working condition, without visual damage, and have the correct air pressure as stated on the tire. Replace tires and inner tubes with punctures, cuts, or damage before riding. Improper tire pressure reduces performance, increases wear, and makes riding unsafe.
Accessories, Straps, and Hardware
Ensure all hardware is secured and approved accessories are properly attached per manufacturer instructions. Before each ride, check all hardware, straps, and accessories. If anything seems wrong or uncertain, have it checked by a certified, reputable bike mechanic.
Suspension, Handlebar, Grips, and Seat Adjustments
Understand how the suspension fork works, as it affects handling. Adjust the suspension fork according to your weight and terrain. Ensure the handlebar and stem are properly aligned, fitted to the user, and secured to recommended torque values. Handlebar grips should not move easily. Replace loose, worn, or damaged grips. The seat and seatpost should be properly aligned, fitted to the user, and the seatpost quick release should be properly tightened, fully closed, and secured before riding.
Battery Charged, Secured, and Unplugged
Ensure the battery is adequately charged and operating properly. Ensure the battery charger is unplugged from the outlet and stored safely before riding. The battery MUST be locked onto the frame battery mount before use. Do not operate the electrical system if the battery is removed.

TIRE INFORMATION
The F20 Mate uses 20" x 3.0" rubber tires with inner tubes, designed for durability and safety. Check tires before each use for proper inflation and condition. Proper inflation, care, and timely replacement maintain performance and prevent unsafe conditions.
Fafrees recommends 15-35 PSI for the stock tires. Always stay within the manufacturer's recommended air pressure range listed on the tire sidewall.
Maintaining proper air pressure is critical. Underinflated tires can lead to loss of control; overinflated tires may burst. Failure to maintain correct pressure can result in tire/wheel failure.
Inflate tires using a regulated air source with a pressure gauge. Unregulated sources can overinflate tires, causing them to burst. Even tires with flat-preventative liners can get flats from punctures, pinches, or impact. When tire wear is evident or a flat is discovered, replace tires/tubes before operating the bike to prevent injury or damage.
When changing a tire or tube, ensure all air pressure is removed from the inner tube first to prevent serious injury.
STORAGE INSTRUCTION
For storage longer than 2 weeks, follow these instructions to maintain battery health and longevity:
- Charge (or discharge) the battery to approximately 75%.
- DO NOT leave the battery attached to the bike frame during long-term storage; remove it.
- Store the battery in a dry, climate-controlled indoor location between 0°C and 40°C (32°F – 104°F).
- Check the battery every month and recharge to 75% if needed.
- If stored for a long time, keep the battery cool and dry, and charge it for 2 hours every other 3 months. Failure to follow proper storage can result in a non-functional battery, not covered under warranty.
- DO NOT cover the charger while it is charging. It needs airflow and should be on a hard, flat surface in an open space with indicator lights facing upward.
- DO NOT open the battery housing, as this voids the warranty and can cause damage, injury, or death.
