LED Indicator
LED Indicator | Description |
---|---|
Blinking white | The AP is starting up. |
Solid white | The AP has completed startup and is waiting to be managed by a controller (such as IP-COM ProFi Software Controller, ProFi App/ProFi Cloud web UI, an AP controller (AC), or a router with AP management function). |
Solid blue | The AP is managed by a controller and is working properly. |
Fast blinking blue | The AP Locate feature was activated in the ProFi Software Controller or ProFi Cloud. |
Slowly blinking blue | The AP is isolated and no longer provides wireless access (due to disconnection from the uplink network). |
Alternating white / blue | The AP is busy (for example, upgrading firmware). Do not disconnect the power. |
Button/Ports
Button/Ports | Description |
---|---|
RESET | Reset button, used to reset the AP. For the reset method, see Q4 in FAQ. |
LAN1 (for Pro-6-LR) | 10/100/1000 Mbps auto-negotiation. Connected to a wired device (such as a computer) to transmit data. |
LAN0/PoE or LAN/POE | 10/100/1000 Mbps auto-negotiation port for both PoE power supply and data transmission. Generally connected to an upstream device (such as a PoE switch). You can power the AP by: - The included PoE adapter or power adapter. - Other PoE power supply devices with IEEE 802.3af/at standards. |
Cable Fix Notch | Used to fix Ethernet cables to the AP. |
Network Topology
The typical network topology of the APs is shown below.
Diagram Description: A network diagram illustrating the connection of IP-COM APs. It shows an IP-COM AP Controller, a PoE Switch, a Router, and a Management Computer (running ProFi Software Controller) connected to the network. An Access Point (AP) is connected to the PoE Switch. The network also connects to the WAN and a cloud service (SDN Cloud). Remote access is shown from a Laptop and a Smartphone to the ProFi Software Controller and ProFi App/ProFi Cloud respectively.

- Quick Installation Guide
Install the AP
Tips:
- Before installation, record the MAC address (on the label of the AP) and installation position of the AP to locate the AP through the MAC address.
- Prepare a marker, a hammer drill, a drill bit, a rubber hammer, a screwdriver, and a ladder.
- The APs are suitable for mounting at heights greater than 2 meters.
Installation Steps:
- (For Pro-6-LR) Remove the mounting bracket from the AP.
- Position the bracket on the ceiling and mark screw hole positions with a marker.
- Drill holes in the marked positions using a hammer drill.
- Option A (for general ceilings): Knock the included plastic anchors into the holes using a rubber hammer. Insert the included screws into the screw holes on the bracket and fix them into the plastic anchors using a screwdriver to secure the bracket.
- Option B (for ceilings with weak strength, e.g., plasterboard): Insert the included screws into the screw holes on the bracket and fix them into the included plastic nuts using a screwdriver to secure the bracket.
- Align the slots of the AP with the hooks of the bracket.
- Ensure that the AP is firmly seated onto the bracket. Turn the AP clockwise until it is fixed securely onto the bracket.
Diagram Description for Installation: The diagrams show the process of attaching the mounting bracket to the ceiling and then attaching the AP to the bracket. It illustrates marking holes, drilling, using anchors and screws (Options A and B), and finally twisting the AP onto the bracket hooks.
Power the AP
CAT5e or better Ethernet cables are recommended.
Method 1: Power the AP with the included PoE adapter and PoE injector
- Use an Ethernet cable to connect the LANO/PoE or LAN/PoE port of the AP to the PoE port of the included PoE injector.
- Use the included power adapter to connect the PoE injector to a power socket.
Tips: For Pro-6-Lite, the maximum power supply distance is 100 meters; for Pro-6-LR, the maximum power supply distance is 50 meters.
Method 2: Power the AP with a standard PoE power supply device
Use an Ethernet cable to connect the LANO/PoE or LAN/PoE port of the AP to a PoE power supply device with 802.3af/at standards. A PoE switch is used for illustration.
Diagram Description for Powering AP: The diagrams illustrate two methods of powering the AP. Method 1 shows the AP connected via Ethernet cable to a PoE injector, which is then connected to a power adapter and a power socket. Method 2 shows the AP connected via Ethernet cable to a PoE port on a PoE switch.
Configure the AP
Method 1: Through IP-COM ProFi Software Controller
1. Download and install the IP-COM ProFi Software Controller on your management computer.
2. Connect the AP to the network. The AP will be discovered by the controller.
