GLONASS Activation

This update enables GLONASS functionality for non-GLONASS GNSS receivers in Matrix Pro GS and Aeros consoles, which were originally supplied without GLONASS.

Prerequisites

This update upgrades the GNSS receiver from "Receiver 6" to "Receiver 7". The update process is simple and can be performed via the USB port on the Matrix Pro GS and Aeros consoles.

Note: This update is supported on Matrix Pro GS consoles with v3.04 or higher, and Aeros consoles with v4.00 or higher. It is highly recommended to update to console v4.11 to utilize new GNSS features. If your console runs an older version, console updates can be downloaded from the "Tech Support -> Software/Firmware Updates" section at www.teejet.com.

Check Update Compatibility

The best way to check if an update is necessary is to verify the "Receiver" number as shown in the image. Navigate to "Configuration -> GNSS Receiver Configuration -> GNSS Status Data" and check the "Receiver" values.

If the receiver is version 6, the update will upgrade it to version 7. If the receiver is already version 7, you can cancel this update.

Note: The update can only be completed with GNSS Receiver version 010201. If your receiver has an older version (010102, 010105, or 010016), you must first update to version 010201. This update is available in the "Tech Support -> Software/Firmware Updates/Matrix Pro ClearPath Receivers" section at www.teejet.com.

GNSS Antenna

The GNSS antenna must be GLONASS-capable. The optional TeeJet RXA-30 antenna is GLONASS-capable. However, most patch antennas sold with Matrix Pro GS consoles are only compatible with Receiver 6 GNSS receivers and GPS. These will need to be replaced with GLONASS-capable antennas to receive and process GLONASS data. Options include the RXA-30 antenna (part number 90-02720) and the GLONASS Patch antenna (part number 78-50190).

Note: TeeJet Technologies does not cover the costs of antenna replacement.

Update Process

1. Verify if your GNSS receiver requires the update (refer to "Check Update Compatibility").
2. Download the ZIP file from www.teejet.com [Tech Support -> Software/Firmware Update -> GLONASS Activation] directly to your computer's desktop or download folder.
3. Double-click the ZIP file (GLONASS_UPD_100.zip) and select either A or B:
   • A) Copy the "tjrun" directory and paste it into the root directory of an empty USB drive.
   • B) Use the "Extract All" function and extract the downloaded files to the root directory of an empty USB drive.
   Recommendation: Use an empty USB drive. Ensure no other autorun files are on the drive.
4. Safely eject the USB drive from the computer using the "Safely Remove Hardware" taskbar icon, the "Eject" function in the My Computer window, or the "Eject" option on a MAC.
5. Turn on the Matrix Pro GS or Aeros console and wait for it to fully boot up.
6. Ensure "GNSS Port" is set to "Internal" under "Configuration -> GNSS Receiver Configuration".
7. With the console powered on, lift the rubber cover and connect the USB drive to the Matrix Pro GS or Aeros console.
8. The update process takes less than a minute and will show the following phases: "Receiver model is updating, please wait" and "Receiver updated successfully! Remove USB stick and restart unit.". Warning: Do not interrupt the power supply to the Matrix device or remove the USB drive before the update is complete.
9. Remove the USB drive from the device.
10. Turn off the device by pressing and holding the power button (this may take up to 15 seconds).
11. Turn the device back on using the power button.
12. Navigate to "Configuration -> GNSS Receiver Configuration -> GNSS Status Data" and check if "Receiver" shows 7.
