Dell Inspiron 5391 Setup and Specifications
This document provides setup instructions and detailed specifications for the Dell Inspiron 5391 laptop.

Chapter 1: Set up your Inspiron 5391
NOTE: The images in this document may differ from your computer depending on the configuration you ordered.
- Connect the power adapter and press the power button.
- Finish operating system setup.
- For Ubuntu: Follow the on-screen instructions. For more information, see knowledge base articles SLN151664 and SLN151748 at www.dell.com/support.
- For Windows: Follow the on-screen instructions. Dell recommends connecting to a network for Windows updates. If connecting to a secured wireless network, enter the password when prompted. Sign in with or create a Microsoft account if connected to the internet; otherwise, create an offline account. Enter your contact details on the Support and Protection screen.
- Locate and use Dell apps from the Windows Start menu.
- My Dell: Centralized location for key Dell applications, help articles, and important computer information. Notifies about warranty status, recommended accessories, and software updates.
- SupportAssist: Pro-actively checks hardware and software health. The SupportAssist OS Recovery tool troubleshoots operating system issues. See SupportAssist documentation at www.dell.com/support.

Chapter 2: Views of Inspiron 5391
Left View
1. Power-adapter port: Connect a power adapter to provide power.
2. HDMI port: Connect to a TV, external display, or another HDMI-in enabled device. Provides video and audio output.
3. USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Type-C) port/DisplayPort: Connect devices like external storage or printers. Provides data transfer speeds up to 5 Gbps. A USB Type-C to DisplayPort adapter (sold separately) is required for DisplayPort devices.
4. microSD-card slot: Reads from and writes to the microSD-card.
Right View
1. Micro-SIM card slot (optional): Insert a micro-SIM card to connect to a mobile broadband network.
2. Headset port: Connect headphones or a headset (headphone and microphone combo).
3. USB 3.1 Gen 1 port: Connect devices like external storage or printers. Provides data transfer speeds up to 5 Gbps.
Touchpad
1. Left-click area: Press to left-click.
2. Touchpad: Move your finger to move the mouse pointer. Tap to left-click; two-finger tap to right-click.
3. Right-click area: Press to right-click.
4. Power button with optional fingerprint reader: Press to turn on the computer. Press to put the computer into sleep state; press and hold for 10 seconds to force shut-down. If it has a fingerprint reader, place your finger on the button to log in.
NOTE: You can customize power-button behavior in Windows. See Me and My Dell at www.dell.com/support/manuals.
NOTE: Computers with a fingerprint reader do not have a power-status light on the power button.
Display
1. Left microphone: Provides digital sound input for audio recording and voice calls.
2. Camera: Enables video chat, photo capture, and video recording.
3. Camera-status light: Turns on when the camera is in use.
4. Right microphone: Provides digital sound input for audio recording and voice calls.
Bottom View
1. Left speaker: Provides audio output.
2. Service Tag label: A unique alphanumeric identifier for hardware identification and warranty information.

Intel Optane Memory H10 with solid-state storage (optional)
Intel Optane technology utilizes 3D XPoint memory technology and functions as a non-volatile storage cache/accelerator and/or storage device. Intel Optane Memory H10 with solid-state storage functions as both a non-volatile storage cache/accelerator and a solid-state storage solution. It neither replaces nor adds to the memory (RAM) installed on your computer.

Chapter 4: Keyboard shortcuts
NOTE: Keyboard characters may differ depending on the keyboard language configuration. Keys used for shortcuts remain the same across all language configurations.

The F1-F12 keys are function keys for multimedia control. Press the function key to invoke the task. For example, F1 mutes audio.
