Package Contents

Your FortiExtender 101G package includes:

  • QuickStart Guide
  • Drill Template Sticker
  • FortiExtender Device (FEX-101G)
  • 3x LTE Antennas
  • 4x Rubber Feet
  • 2x Wall Mount Screws
  • 4x Wall Mount Anchors

Setup

Power the device on Port 4 using a PoE injector, FortiGate PoE port, or a FortiSwitch PoE port. Alternatively, use a 12VDC adapter (not included) connected to the DC socket on the back.

GUI Setup

Connect to the device via Ethernet cable (not included) to Port 1. The default static IP address for the device is 192.168.200.1/24. Access the GUI via your web browser at https://192.168.200.99 with username 'admin' and a blank password.

CLI Setup

Connect to the Console Port using a console cable (not included). The default serial settings are: Speed: 115200, Data bits: 8, Stop bits: 1, Parity: None, Flow Control: None.

Cloud Integration

FortiEdge Cloud

Connect Port 1 via Ethernet cable (not included) to your network, which then connects to FortiEdge Cloud at fortiedge.forticloud.com. Once registered and logged into FortiEdge Cloud, your device will automatically appear in Inventory.

FortiSASE LAN Extension

To configure your FortiExtender as a FortiSASE LAN Extension, refer to the Edge Device and Prerequisites sections in the FortiSASE Admin Guide at docs.fortinet.com/product/fortisase.

Installation

Antennas and SIMs Installation

  1. Hand tighten the collars for each LTE antenna.
  2. Insert two micro-SIMs (3FF). Refer to the Admin Guide for configuration details: docs.fortinet.com/product/fortiextender/.

Wall Mounting

  1. Secure the brackets using the provided screws.
  2. Mark the anchor locations and drill holes.
  3. Install the anchors and screws, then lock the device in place.

    • Blue: 2.5 Gbps connection
    • Flashing Blue: 2.5 Gbps data activity
    • Green: 1 Gbps or 100/10Mbps connection
    • Flashing Green: 1 Gbps or 100/10 Mbps data activity
    • Off: Not connected
  • 4 LAN Ports 1 to 4 (RJ45) and LEDs:
    • Green: 1 Gbps connection
    • Flashing Green: 1 Gbps data activity
    • Amber: 100/10 Mbps connection

  • 5 12VDC/2.5A Input (optional): Use a 12VDC/2.5A power adapter with a 2.1 mm plug.

    • Two Bars: 25% to 50%

Left View

  • 1 LTE Antenna Connectors x3
  • 2 SIM Slot Cover: For SIM Card1 and SIM Card2.
  • 3 Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Button and LED:
    • Green: Discovery mode
    • Flashing Blue: Pairing
    • Blue: Connected (LED will turn off after five seconds)
    • Off: BLE is off
  • 4 Reset/Default Button: Press and hold (>10secs) until the device reboots and restores factory settings.
