A New Generation of Grow Lights
Installation Guide
Follow these steps to install your Spider Farmer G Series LED grow light.
Hanging the Light
- Step 1: For fixtures rated 480W or higher, unfold the frame completely after unpacking. For fixtures under 480W, the frame is fixed and pre-assembled.
- Step 2: Secure the fixture to a sturdy support. Attach the metal suspension rope to the suspension holes, then hang the fixture at your desired position and height.
Mounting the Power Supply
The power supply can be installed in three ways, depending on your model:
- 1. Parallel to the light bars (Figure 1): Applicable for G5000, G7000, G8600, G1000W models. Figure 1: Illustration showing the power supply mounted parallel to the light bars.
- 2. Perpendicular to the light bars (Figure 2): Applicable for G3000, G4500, G1200W models. Figure 2: Illustration showing the power supply mounted perpendicular to the light bars.
- 3. Installed on the central light bar (Figure 3): Applicable for G1500 model. Figure 3: Illustration showing the power supply mounted on the central light bar.
Fixing the Dimmer Box
On the bottom of the dimmer box, there are two protruding horizontal bars. Align these bars with the two grooves on the light frame and then fix the dimmer box to the light frame.

- Linked Mode: Automatically enters Linked mode when connected to the UP port. The Linked indicator light will illuminate. Knob operation is disabled. An indicator light illuminates when the unit is in Linked mode.
User Tips for Optimal Growth
Photosynthesis and transpiration rates are directly influenced by environmental factors. For optimal conditions for most plants:
- Temperature: Maintain between 65°F - 95°F (18°C - 35°C).
- Humidity: Maintain between 50% - 70%.
- Airflow: Ensure adequate airflow to replenish CO₂ levels.
- pH Levels: Maintain a pH of approximately 6.0-6.5.
You may need to supplement with additional calcium and magnesium beyond typical requirements.
Starter Guide: LED Grow Light Distance
Determining the correct hanging height for LED grow lights is crucial and depends on wattage, light intensity (PPFD), and plant growth stage. These are general guidelines:
- Lower Wattage LEDs: Recommended distance: 12-20 inches.
- Medium Wattage LEDs: Adjust accordingly within the above ranges.
- Higher Wattage LEDs: Recommended distance: 36-46 inches.
Note: Dimmable bar-style LED grow lights, even those with higher wattage outputs (e.g., 800 watts), can often be hung as close as 12 inches from plants. Adjusting intensity and duration allows growers to optimize growth. It is crucial to tailor PPFD readings for each growth stage and plant type.
Perfecting PPFD for Hanging LED Lights
To determine the optimal hanging height, assess the preferred light intensity, indicated by PPFD (Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density):
Stage | PPFD Range (µmol/m²/s) |
---|---|
Seedling | 100-300 |
Vegetative | 400-600 |
Flowering | 800-1,000 |
Note: When introducing additional CO₂ exposure, both PPFD and DLI (Daily Light Integral) values should be increased. Higher CO₂ levels enable plants to tolerate stronger light and heat, maximizing their growth potential. Without increasing light intensity, the benefits of elevated CO₂ levels will not be fully realized.
Controlling Multiple Lights in Series
Connect multiple Spider Farmer G Series lights in series for synchronized operation.
Series Connection Method:
- Step 1: Leave the UP port of the first Dimmer Box (designated as the master) unoccupied.
- Step 2: Connect the DOWN port of the master dimmer box via an RJ12 cable to the UP port of the next dimmer box (which will be in Linked mode).
- Step 3: Continue connecting the dimmer boxes in sequence using the method described in Step 2.
- Step 4: After connection, the device with its UP port in use automatically switches to Linked mode.
Safety Instructions for Use
- The light is Class I protection equipment and must be properly grounded.
- Verify that the voltage matches the manual specifications before use.
- For daisy-chain operation, the total power consumption cannot exceed the rated power of your timer.
- Avoid touching or looking directly at the light during operation; wear protective glasses.
- Use only the plug to connect the power cord. Do not pull the power cord with excessive force to disconnect the plug.
- Use electricity safely and operate carefully during installation. Avoid touching exposed wires, as this could result in a fatal electric shock.
- Unplug the power cord on rainy days to help prevent lightning strikes. Also, unplug the light when cleaning or performing repairs.
- Do not disassemble or modify the light without authorization from the manufacturer or qualified professionals.
- The maximum operating temperature is 35°C (95°F). Do not operate the light above this temperature.
- Avoid connecting to unauthorized dimming devices.

General Care and Maintenance
Spider Farmer LED grow lights are passively cooled and have no moving parts. Follow these steps to maintain optimal performance:
- Ensure at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) of space between the light and the roof of your grow area for proper heat dissipation. Insufficient space may reduce the lifespan of the light.
- Regularly remove dust, debris, and mineral buildup from the heatsink and LED array using low-pressure compressed air. Always unplug the light before cleaning.
- Avoid using cloths to clean the diode array, as this can cause scratches, damage, or dislodge the diodes.
- Do not touch the diodes with your hands, even when the light is off, to minimize degradation.
