3M WorkTunes Connect Wireless Hearing Protector

Featuring Bluetooth® wireless technology

Basic Operations

Charging the Headset

To comply with regulatory guidelines, your hearing protector has been shipped with a partial charge on its integrated lithium ion battery pack. To charge, insert the supplied micro-USB connector cable into the micro-USB jack located on the bottom of the right cup. Connect the other end of the cable to a suitable USB power source, such as a computer or a third-party certified (UL, Intertek, etc.) AC to USB wall adapter.

The LED indicator will blink blue while charging and change to solid blue when complete.

Fitting the Headset

Fully extend the sliders and place the cups over your ears. Then, tighten the headband using the sliders to ensure a secure fit.

Power and Volume

Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to power the headset ON or OFF. Voice Assist will announce "Power ON" or "Power OFF." Voice assist also provides battery status updates: "Battery High," "Battery Medium," "Battery Low," or "Battery Empty." Adjust the volume using your connected device.

Low Battery Warning

The hearing protector will provide a "Battery Low" warning every 20 minutes when the battery voltage is low. An additional "Battery Empty" warning will occur as the hearing protector powers down. Recharge the unit at this time.

Auto Shut-Off

5 minutes after either Bluetooth® or the audio input is disconnected, the hearing protector will automatically power down. To turn it back on after auto shut-off, press and hold the ON/OFF button for 3 seconds.

Bluetooth® Operation

Pairing the Device

Once powered on, double-press the button on the right cup to enter pairing mode. You will hear "Bluetooth Pairing ON." Ensure your Bluetooth® enabled device is scanning for devices. Select "WorkTunes Connect" on your device to connect. Upon successful connection, you will hear "Bluetooth Connected," and the LED on the right cup will turn blue.

Your Bluetooth® audio volume will be controlled by your device. The next time you power up, your hearing protector will automatically connect to your device and announce "Bluetooth Connected."

Forward/Back or Pause/Play

To pause or play audio on your device, single-press the button on the right cup. To advance tracks, double-press the button. Triple-press to select the previous track. (Note: Some devices may not be compatible with these functions and require native controls.)

In Bluetooth® Mode, incoming phone calls will mute the music, and you will hear your phone's ringtone. To answer a call, press the button once. To disconnect from a call, press the button once more; you will hear "Call Terminated." To reject a call and return to Bluetooth® audio, press and hold the button; you will hear "Call Terminated."

Noise Reduction Rating (NRR)

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) selected the Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) as the measure of a hearing protector's noise-reducing capabilities. The NRR for the WorkTunes™ Connect Wireless Hearing Protector is 24 dB(A). The NRR may overestimate protection during typical use due to variations in fit, fitting skill, and user motivation. 3M recommends reducing the NRR by 50% or per applicable regulations for estimating noise reduction.

Improper fit reduces effectiveness. Consult enclosed instructions for proper fit.
