Description
The EDR-120 series is an economical, slim 120W DIN rail power supply, designed for installation on TS-35/7.5 or TS-35/15 mounting rails. Its 40mm width allows for space-saving within cabinets. The series features a full-range AC input from 90VAC to 264VAC and conforms to BS EN/EN61000-3-2 harmonic current regulations. The EDR-120 is built with a metal housing to enhance power dissipation. With an efficiency up to 88.5%, it operates within an ambient temperature range of -20°C to 60°C under free air convection. It includes constant current mode for overload protection, suitable for inductive or capacitive applications. Comprehensive protection functions and relevant certificates (UL508, TUV BS EN/EN62368-1, etc.) make the EDR-120 a competitive power supply solution for industrial applications.

Notes:
- All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated load and 25°C of ambient temperature.
- Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1uF & 47uF parallel capacitor.
- Tolerance: includes set up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.
- The power supply is considered a component which will be installed into a final equipment. The final equipment must be re-confirmed that it still meets EMC directives.
- Installation clearances: 40mm on top, 20mm on the bottom, 5mm on the left and right side are recommended when loaded permanently with full power. In case the adjacent device is a heat source, 15mm clearance is recommended.
- Derating may be needed under low input voltage. Please check the derating curve for more details.
- The ambient temperature derating of 3.5°C/1000m with fanless models and of 5°C/1000m with fan models for operating altitude higher than 2000m(6500ft).

Diagrams and Characteristics
Block Diagram
The block diagram illustrates the internal structure of the EDR-120 series power supply. Input power (I/P) and protective earth (FG) are fed into an EMI Filter and Rectifiers. This is followed by Power Switching controlled by PWM Control, incorporating Overload Protection (O.L.P.) and Over-temperature Protection (O.T.P.). The output stage includes Rectifiers & Filter, with Over-voltage Protection (O.V.P.) and Over-current Protection (O.C.P.) managed by a Detection Circuit, delivering regulated +V and -V outputs. The switching frequency (fosc) is 70KHz.
Derating Curve
The derating curve shows the relationship between ambient temperature and load percentage for different input voltages. For 230VAC input, the power supply can operate at 100% load up to approximately 50°C, with derating required above this temperature. For 115VAC input, the derating starts at lower temperatures, with specific curves shown for 12V, 24V, and 48V models, indicating reduced load capacity as temperature increases.
Static Characteristics
The static characteristics graphs illustrate the load percentage versus input voltage for various output models. For 230VAC input, the 24V and 48V models maintain 100% load capacity across a wide input voltage range (approx. 90V to 264V). The 12V model also shows high load capacity, with slight variations. For 115VAC input, the 12V, 24V, and 48V models operate at reduced load capacities compared to 230VAC input, with specific curves showing load percentage versus input voltage.
