Getting Started

This manual will guide you through activating features, understanding controls, and maximizing your musical exploration.

Power and Charging

Chorda can be charged using the included USB-C cable. The device remains fully functional while charging. Indicators show charging status: blinking green for charging, solid green for fully charged, and light off when not charging. A quick press of the power button reveals the current battery level.

Panel and Controls

Familiarize yourself with the Chorda's controls, including the Power Button, Volume Button, USB-C Port, and Headphone/Aux Out. The 1/8" audio output is suitable for headphones, speakers, or amplifiers. Chorda features a 3W active speaker system.

Modes of Operation

Explore the different modes of Chorda:

• Drum Mode: Each pad corresponds to a different drum kit element.
• Bass Mode: A monophonic mode with a C major diatonic scale.
• Chord Mode: Triggers multiple notes simultaneously to form chords, tuned to the song's key.
• Lead Mode: A polyphonic mode with a C Pentatonic Major scale, allowing for harmonies and arpeggios.

Gestures and Interaction

Chorda utilizes various gestures for sound manipulation:

• Tap: Velocity-sensitive taps control sound volume and other parameters.
• Vibrato: Wiggling your finger horizontally on a pad changes the pitch.
• Press: Varying finger intensity on a pad modulates effects.
• Radiate: Moving your finger up and down on a pad morphs the sound.
• Tilt: Tilting the device horizontally or vertically engages effects, similar to a mod wheel.
• Move: Moving Chorda in space modulates sounds and effects (requires DAW mapping).
• Shake: Shaking the device back and forth works in Drum mode.
• Bump: Tapping the side of Chorda works in Drum mode and with Stem Songs.

Artiphon Connect App

Enhance your Chorda experience with the Artiphon Connect App. Customize key and tempo, browse presets, update firmware, use on-screen UI elements, add effects, and save/share songs. The app is available at artiphon.com/downloads.

Connectivity

Connect Chorda via USB-C or Bluetooth. For initial setup and firmware updates, a cabled USB connection is recommended. The app facilitates both USB and Bluetooth connections.

MIDI Controller Functionality

Chorda functions as a MIDI controller, allowing you to trigger and affect sounds in MIDI-enabled software or hardware. Connect via MIDI over Bluetooth or USB-C. You can disable Chorda's internal synth for a cleaner signal.
