Health and Safety

The use of any electrical appliance requires common sense safety rules. Please read these instructions carefully before using the product.

General Safety Rules

• ℹ️ This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above, and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, if given supervision or instruction concerning safe use and understanding the hazards involved.
• Children shall not play with the appliance.
• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
• If the mains cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified person to avoid a hazard.
• ⚠️ WARNING: Do not open the lid whilst the water is boiling.
• ⚠️ WARNING: Misuse of appliance could cause personal injury.
• ⚠️ WARNING: Avoid spillage on the connector.
• This appliance has an element which may be subject to residual heat after use.
• Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children.
• This appliance is intended for household and similar applications (farm houses, hotels, motels, bed and breakfast environments). It is not suitable for staff kitchen areas in shops, offices, or other working environments.

Location

• Always locate your appliance away from the edge of the worktop.
• Ensure the appliance is used on a firm, flat surface.
• Do not use the appliance outdoors or near water.
• ⚠️ WARNING: Do not place the appliance onto a metal tray or metal surface whilst in use.

Mains Cable

• Do not let the mains cable hang over the edge of the worktop where a child could reach it.
• Do not let the mains cable run across an open space (e.g., between a low socket and a table).
• Do not let the mains cable run across a cooker or other hot area which might damage the cable.
• The mains cable should reach from the socket to the base unit without straining the connections.

Personal Safety

• Always keep the top of the cordless base dry, especially around the connection area. Disconnect the power supply before drying and allow to dry thoroughly before reconnection.
• Do not fill above the MAX mark, otherwise boiling water may be ejected.
• Always pour hot water slowly and carefully without tipping the appliance too fast to prevent splashing and spillage.

Other Safety Considerations

• Do not hold the switch in the on position or tamper with it to fix it in the on position, as this may cause damage to the switch-off mechanism.
• Do not move the kettle while switched on.
• The use of attachments or tools not recommended or sold by Morphy Richards may cause fire, electric shock, or injury.
• The kettle is only to be used with the stand provided.
• Do not use the appliance for any use other than to boil water.
• The appliance must not be on the base unit when being filled with water.
• Unplug from the outlet when not in use.
• ⚠️ WARNING: The appliance must not be immersed for cleaning.

Electrical Requirements

• Check that the voltage on the rating plate corresponds with your house electricity supply (must be A.C. - Alternating Current).
• Should the fuse in the mains plug require changing, replace it with a fuse of the same rating as originally fitted.
• ⚠️ WARNING: This appliance must be earthed.

Using Your Kettle

Before First Use

Before using the appliance for the first time, fill with water, boil and pour away.

Step-by-Step Guide

Cleaning Your Kettle

• ⚠️ WARNING: Always disconnect the plug from the mains and allow the kettle to cool before cleaning.
• Wipe the outside with a damp cloth.
• IMPORTANT: Do not use abrasive cleaners on the outside of the kettle which may scratch the surface.

Removing the Filter

1. Allow the kettle to cool completely before removing the filter.
2. Open the Lid (3) by pressing the Lid Release Button (4).
3. Push the tab on the top of the Removable Limescale Filter (2) down, then pull towards the inside of the kettle and lift upwards to remove for cleaning.
4. To refit the Removable Limescale Filter, rest the Filter inside the kettle and clip the tab back into position until it clicks.

⚠️ WARNING: Unless the Removable Limescale Filter is fitted correctly, it may fall out when pouring.

⚠️ WARNING: Never boil the kettle with the Removable Limescale Filter removed. It must be attached to the kettle at all times.

Descaling

IMPORTANT: As this appliance is fitted with a concealed element, it must be descaled regularly. The frequency of descaling depends on usage and the hardness of the water in your area.

Excessive scale can cause the appliance to switch off before boiling and may damage the element, invalidating the warranty.

It is essential that regular descaling takes place. We recommend descaling your kettle every month.

Remove hard scale using a proprietary descaling product suitable for stainless steel, glass, or plastic. Please follow the cleaning product's instructions carefully.

IMPORTANT: Ensure that the electrical connections are completely dry before using the appliance.

Your 2 Years Warranty

PLEASE AFFIX YOUR RECEIPT/PROOF OF PURCHASE HERE. IN THE EVENT OF A CLAIM UNDER THIS WARRANTY, THE AFORESAID RECEIPT/PROOF OF PURCHASE MUST BE PRODUCED TOGETHER WITH THIS WARRANTY.

1. The party selling the product ("the seller") to the original purchaser of this product ("the customer") hereby warrants that this product will be of good quality, in good working order, and free of defects and suitable for its intended purpose under normal household use, for a period of 2 (two) years from the date of purchase ("warranty period") of this product.

2. In the event that the warranty period has not lapsed and the product is not of good quality, or in good working order, or is defective, or is not suitable for its intended purpose under normal household use, the customer may, subject to paragraph 3 below, return the product to the seller and have the following options available:

• 2.1 Within the first 6 (six) months of the warranty: to receive a refund of the actual price paid or exchange the product for the same or similar product of the same purchased value.
• 2.2 Within the second 6 (six) months of the warranty: to have the product exchanged for the same or similar product of the same purchased value.

3. The seller will not replace the product or refund the customer in terms of this warranty if the product:

• 3.1 has been altered contrary to the instructions provided in the product manual;
• 3.2 has been misused, abused, or tampered with;
• 3.3 is defective or not in working order due to ordinary wear and tear;
• 3.4 is damaged resulting from the customer's gross negligence, recklessness, malicious behavior, or criminal conduct;
• 3.5 has been utilised for commercial use.

4. This warranty applies only to the product that has been purchased from the seller and not to any expendables attached to or installed on the product by the customer.

5. Any claim in terms of this warranty must be supported by the original proof of purchase.

6. Note that the exchange item will only carry the balance of the warranty period as from the original date of purchase.
