Product Introduction
The XGPON/10GEPON power meter is a new tester for FTTX networks. It incorporates all functions of traditional PON testers and also supports next-generation PON testers. The JW3239 can determine if a power value is suitable by self-setting the threshold. It is an ideal tester for PON network and maintenance.

Operation Instruction
Power ON/OFF
Power ON
- Ensure the product appearance is correct and the battery is installed properly.
- Press the [power-button] until the screen lights up. The backlight dims if there is no operation for 60 seconds (brightness can be adjusted in the Menu). The meter automatically turns off after a set period of inactivity.
Power OFF
- Press the [power-button] for approximately two seconds to turn off the unit.
- If the auto-off time is set to a value other than 0, the product will automatically shut down after the set time of inactivity. The [power-button] can be pressed to turn off this function, indicated by a gray icon.
PON Power Meter Test
Interface of PON Network Power
The PON power meter module interface can be accessed by pressing the "Function selection keys" or "Menu" button. The interface displays readings for different channels, such as 1310nm ONT, 1490nm OLT, and 1550nm VID.
Instructions for Normal Optical Power Meter Function
After turning on the instrument, switch to the Normal Optical Power Meter Module. Clean the optic cable and connect it to the instrument. Using an unmatched adapter may cause the optical adapter to break or result in faulty readings. If the power is within the instrument's measuring range, correct measurements will be displayed. Press the "Confirm" key to save data.
In this interface, the reference value can be updated using the "Ref" key. The reference value is displayed in "dB". To view reference value records, press the "Up" key until the "reference value" is displayed.
Edit PON Threshold
In the threshold selection interface, users can set the threshold group, name, and threshold parameter for each channel. Use the direction keys to select an object, then press the "Enter" key to enter edit mode. Adjust values using direction keys and press "Enter" to save. A dialog box may appear after editing, prompting to save and exit or return to the main menu.
Record
The history data record function allows users to delete and view data. Use direction keys to select functions and press "Enter" to execute. When no operation is performed, the upper right corner of the display shows the last record number, indicating the used RAM.
Settings
The instrument's settings interface allows adjustment of "instrument time", "backlight brightness", "waiting time of auto-off instrument", and "language setting". The instrument supports three languages: Chinese, English, and Spanish. Navigate using direction keys and press "Enter" to edit.
Connection and Information
The Connection and Information interface displays "ROM Version", "Release Time", "Capacity", and "Connection" status. When connecting to test software, the "Connection" status should show "YES" for a successful connection.
Test software introduction
To use the test software:
- Run the provided CD and install the USB driver software (e.g., CP210x_VCP_Win2K_XP_S2K3.exe) and the .NET Framework (e.g., dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe).
- Connect the PON power meter to the computer using the USB cable and open the software.
Upload the data
(Note: The customer software and instrument cannot be operated simultaneously.)
- Open the PON power meter and click "connect" to establish a connection with the computer. Users can click "English" to set the operation interface language to English.
- Select "Upload Data" and click "Upload Test Data" to read and save the data on the computer as a file.
- Click the "Delete Test Data" or "Clear Test Data" button to remove data.
The software interface includes options to "Upload threshold value" to read thresholds. From the toolbar, select "Threshold Set" and right-click the threshold to modify its value.
Calibration
In the "Calibration" tab, users can perform self-calibration or choose "Factory Reset" mode. For example, to calibrate at 1310nm, input the standard optical power (e.g., -10dBm) in the text box and click "Calibration".
Maintenance
- The tester should be operated without significant vibration.
- Keep fiber-optic connectors clean before use, free from oil and dust. If dirty, unscrew the adapter and clean the end face with wipes or paper and anhydrous alcohol.
- After testing or when the unit is unused, cover the dust-proof cap to protect the optical interface and prevent measurement errors due to dust.
- Handle fiber-optic connectors carefully, pushing/pulling them gently to avoid scratches.
- Handle the equipment with care to prevent drops and collisions.
Troubleshooting
Problem | Possible cause | Solution |
No display on the LCD or unable to power on the tester | Power Off Lower Battery | Press [power-button] to turn on Change the battery |
Auto power off after power on | Lower Battery Automatic shutdown is set | Change the battery Check product automatic shutdown Settings |
