Connecting the Battery Cable

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for connecting the battery cable to your GENMAX GM3500IAED portable generator.

Generator Overview:The GENMAX GM3500IAED portable generator is shown. Key components are indicated: the "Right Maintenance Cover", the "Maintenance Knob", the "Control Panel", and the "Battery Prompt Label" located near the battery compartment.

Locating the Battery Positive and Negative Wire Plug

To find the battery positive and negative wire plugs:

  • Open the right maintenance cover to view the battery position.
  • Alternatively, use the battery prompt label to determine which side the positive and negative wire plugs are on.

Step 1: Loosen the Maintenance Knob

Loosen the maintenance knob counterclockwise to prepare for opening the cover.

Step 2: Open the Right Maintenance Cover

Open the right maintenance cover. The battery cable is located in the lower left corner, next to the empty filter compartment.

Step 3: Connect the Positive and Negative Battery Wires

Due to technological upgrades, you may encounter one of two wiring types. Connect the positive and negative battery wires according to the type present.

Type 1 Wiring

In Type 1, there are four positive and negative wire plugs. Plugs labeled '1' and '2' are typically pre-connected when the generator is delivered.

Type 2 Wiring

Step 4: Organize the Wiring Harness

Organize the wiring harness neatly and place it back into position.

Step 5: Close the Cover Plate

Position the support lug under the cover plate into the designated slot on the generator housing, then close the cover plate securely.

Step 6: Tighten the Maintenance Knob

Tighten the maintenance knob clockwise to secure the cover.
