Eclipse open-source based Integrated Development Environment e2 studio revised to V2.1 (2.1.0.21)

Renesas has revised the e² studio integrated development environment (IDE) for the RX, RL78, and RH850 family of MCUs from V2.0 to V2.1. The e² studio was first released in Europe and Americas in 2012, and V2.1 marks the first release for the RX family in Asia.

NOTE: Renesas compiler is not supported for RL78 and RH850.

1. e² studio Feature

e² studio is built upon the Eclipse (NOTE 1.) open-source based IDE, incorporating the CDT plug-ins (NOTE 2.) and Renesas-supported plug-ins for the RX, RL78, and RH850 family of MCUs. It offers a user-friendly interface consistent with Eclipse, meeting the global demand for a unified development environment.

NOTES:

Eclipse IDE is provided by the Eclipse Foundation and is widely used globally in the embedded sector.
CDT stands for C/C++ Development Tooling, providing tools for development in the C/C++ programming language.

NOTE: To install and utilize e² studio on your PC, a separate compiler package must be installed.

2. Supported MCU

The e² studio supports MCUs from the RX, RL78, and RH850 families.

NOTE: Support for the RX family in Asia will commence, with plans to extend support to other devices in the future.

3. How to Obtain the Product

Download the e² studio V2.1 installer from: https://www.renesas.com/e2studio_download. After downloading, install the software. The installer was published on the website on September 30. This URL is one of Renesas' global sites. Automatic Online Update is available after the e² studio installation.
