Highlights

New camera modes

Perfect selfie: Set custom beauty settings for facial enhancement. Steps: 1. Touch Camera. 2. Touch > > Perfect selfie. 3. Enable Perfect selfie. 4. Take three self-portrait shots. 5. Adjust beauty settings. 6. Touch to take photos.

Time-lapse mode: Create accelerated videos of slow-changing scenes. Steps: 1. Touch Camera. 2. Swipe to select Time-lapse. 3. Touch to start recording. 4. Touch to stop recording.

Thumb mode

Facilitates use of large screens and quick sharing of QR contact cards.

One-hand layout

Steps: 1. Touch Settings. 2. Under All, touch One-hand UI > One-hand layout. 3. Enable One-hand layout. Swipe the virtual navigation bar to change screen layout.

Note: Available only on phones with a virtual navigation bar.

Shifting keyboard

Steps: 1. Touch Settings. 2. Under All, touch One-hand UI > Shifting keyboard. 3. Enable Shifting keyboard. Touch the arrow to move the keyboard, dialler, or in-call menu.

Note: May not be available on all phones.

Moving the screen down

On contacts, dialler, messaging, or email screens, touch the upper half and drag down to shift the interface down. From dialler, contacts, or messaging, drag down to display your personal QR contact card for others to scan.

Safe

Secures important files and protects privacy.

Enabling the safe

Steps: 1. Touch Files. 2. Under Categories or Local, touch Safe. 3. Touch Enable. 4. Follow onscreen instructions to set password and security question, then touch Done.

Adding files to the safe

Steps: 1. Touch Files. 2. Under Categories or Local, touch Safe. 3. Enter password, touch Done. 4. Touch Add. 5. Select files. 6. Touch ADD.

Getting started

Locking and unlocking the screen

Locking: Method 1: Press the power button. Method 2: Screen locks automatically after a period of inactivity.

Unlocking: Press the power button to turn on the screen. Slide your finger in any direction to unlock.

Dual SIM settings

Note: Applies to dual SIM phones only.

Enabling or disabling a SIM card

Steps: 1. Touch Settings. 2. Under All, touch International roaming or Dual card management. 3. Touch the switch next to SIM 1 or SIM 2.

Setting the default SIM card for data services

Steps: 1. Touch Settings. 2. Under All, touch International roaming or Dual card management. 3. Touch SIM card 1 or SIM card 2 next to Default mobile data.

Note: May not be supported by some carriers.

Setting the default SIM card for calling and messaging

Steps: 1. Touch Settings. 2. Under All, touch International roaming or Dual card management. 3. Touch SIM card 1 or SIM card 2 next to Default calls/messages.

Note: May not be supported by some carriers.

Connecting to a Wi-Fi network

Steps: 1. Swipe down from the status bar. 2. Under Shortcuts, touch and hold to enter Wi-Fi settings. 3. Turn on Wi-Fi. 4. Select a network. Enter password if prompted.

Turning on mobile data

Steps: 1. Swipe down from the status bar. 2. Under Shortcuts, touch to enable mobile data.

Note: Disable mobile data when not needed to save battery and reduce usage.

Connecting your phone to a computer

Use a USB cable. Follow onscreen instructions to select a connection mode (Photos, Files, USB drive) for transferring files.

  • Photos: Transfer multimedia files.
  • Files: Transfer files.
  • USB drive: Use phone as USB storage for microSD card data.

Importing contacts from your old phone

Methods include:

  • SIM card
  • Storage device (e.g., microSD card as vCard file)
  • Bluetooth
  • Backup (if supported by old phone)
  • Computer (using phone management software like HiSuite)
  • Other accounts (social networks, Exchange)

Touchscreen gestures

  • Touch: Tap an item once.
  • Touch and hold: Touch and leave finger on screen for 2+ seconds.
  • Swipe: Move finger vertically or horizontally.
  • Drag: Touch and hold an item, then move it.
  • Pinch two fingers out: Spread fingers to zoom in.
  • Pinch two fingers together: Pinch fingers to zoom out.
  • Pinch three fingers together: Display screen thumbnails.

Motion control

Control phone with simple motions.

  • Flip: Mute sounds and stop vibration.
  • Shake: Enter editing mode or organize icons.
  • Double touch: Turn screen on.
  • Draw: Draw a letter on the off screen to open an app.

Note: Not all gestures may be featured on all phones.

Home screen

Contains widgets and applications. No separate application list.

  • Status bar: Displays notifications and icons. Swipe down for notification panel.
  • Display area: Shows app icons, folders, widgets.
  • Screen position indicator: Shows current home screen.
  • Dock: Frequently used applications.
  • Navigation bar: Virtual keys (if applicable).

Switching between home screens

Swipe left or right. Touch Home to return to the default screen.

Automatic screen rotation

Screen orientation changes between landscape and portrait mode automatically. Steps: 1. Swipe down from status bar. 2. Under Shortcuts, touch Auto Rotate.

Organising applications and widgets

  • Adding a widget: Pinch out on home screen, touch Widgets, select widget.
  • Moving: Touch and hold icon/widget, drag to new location.
  • Deleting: Touch and hold icon/widget, drag to .
  • Creating a folder: Drag one icon on top of another.
  • Hiding icons: Pinch out, touch , select icons, touch OK.

Managing home screens

Pinch three fingers together to see thumbnails. Options: Set default, Move, Add, Delete.

Notifications

Status indicator: Blinking red (low battery), Steady red/yellow/green (charging status), Blinking green (unread messages).

Notification panel: Swipe down from status bar. Swipe left/right to switch between notifications and shortcuts. Touch notifications to view, swipe to dismiss. Clear all, adjust brightness, enable/disable shortcuts.

Lock screen notifications: Steps: 1. Touch Settings. 2. Under General, touch Screen lock & passwords. 3. Enable Notification panel switch.

Accessing applications

Opening/Switching: Touch icon on home screen. Return to home screen via Home button. Swipe down from top to search for apps.

Viewing recently used applications: Touch Recent. Thumbnails show open apps. Swipe up to close, swipe down to lock. Swipe up from bottom to close all (except locked apps).

Personalising your phone

Changing the home screen style

Steps: 1. Touch Settings. 2. Under All, touch Home screen style. 3. Select Simple or Standard.

Changing the wallpaper

Steps: 1. Touch Settings. 2. Under General, touch Wallpaper. 3. Choose Lock screen wallpaper or Home screen wallpaper. Enable 'Shake to change' or 'Random change' options.

Changing the ringtone

Steps: 1. Touch Settings. 2. Under General, touch Sound. 3. Touch SIM card 1/2 phone ringtone or Notification ringtone. Choose from Ringtone or Music tabs. Touch to apply.

Changing the font size

Steps: 1. Touch Settings. 2. Under General, touch Font. 3. Touch Font size. 4. Follow onscreen instructions.

Entering text

Touch a text input box to bring up the keyboard. Touch to hide.

Switching between input methods

Steps: 1. Swipe down from status bar. 2. Under Notifications, touch Select input method. 3. Select method.

Default method: Settings > Language & input > Default keyboard.

Huawei Swype input method: Slide across letters, switch case, access settings, enter numbers/symbols, voice input, delete.

Android input method: Switch case, enter numbers/symbols, space, full stop, delete.

Note: Android input method may not be available on all phones.

Editing text

  • Select text: Touch and hold, drag to select or touch Select all.
  • Copy text: Select text, touch Copy.
  • Cut text: Select text, touch Cut.
  • Paste text: Touch and hold, touch Paste.

Calls and contacts

Making a call

  • Smart dialling: Enter contact initials/number in Dialler. Matches appear. Touch to call.
  • From Contacts: Touch Dialler, touch contact, touch to call.
  • From call log: Touch Dialler, select contact/number, touch to call.
  • Emergency call: Enter local emergency number in Dialler, touch . (Requires cellular coverage).
  • Speed-dialling: Touch Dialler > > Speed dial settings. Assign number key to contact. Touch and hold key to call.
  • International call: Touch and hold 0 for '+'. Enter country/region code, area code, number. Touch to call.

Answering or rejecting a call

When a call comes in:

  • Touch to answer.
  • Touch to reject.
  • Press volume button to mute ringtone.

Reject calls with SMS: Dialler > Settings > Reject calls with SMS.

In-call menu

  • Hold call: Touch . Resume by touching again.
  • Mute: Touch .
  • Three-way call: Touch . (Carrier support required).
  • Speaker: Touch .
  • End call: Touch .
  • Dialler: Touch .
  • Contacts: Touch .
  • Notes: Touch .

Hide menu by touching Home or Return. Return by swiping down status bar and touching Current call.

Answering a third-party call

Ensure call waiting is enabled. Drag right to answer, placing the first call on hold. Touch to switch between calls.

Making a conference call

Note: Conference calling may not be supported by all plans. Contact carrier.

Steps: 1. Call first participant. 2. Touch to call second participant (first is on hold). 3. Touch to start conference call. 4. Repeat to add more. 5. Touch to end.

Using the call log

Records outgoing, incoming, and missed calls.

  • Adding a contact: Touch Dialler, touch next to number, touch or . Or touch and hold number, then Create new contact or Save to existing contact.
  • Deleting call records: Touch and hold record, touch Delete entry. Or touch > Delete call log for multiple records.

Turning on pocket mode

Increases ringtone volume and vibration intensity for incoming calls when phone is in pocket/bag. Steps: 1. Touch Dialler > > Settings. 2. Turn on Pocket mode.

Call settings

Enabling call forwarding

Forward calls to another number if unavailable. Steps: 1. Touch Dialler > > Settings. 2. Touch Call forwarding (Card 1 or Card 2). 3. Select mode, enter number, touch Enable.

Enabling call waiting

Answer incoming calls during an active call. Steps: 1. Touch Dialler > > Settings. 2. Touch Card 1 settings or Card 2 settings > Additional settings. 3. Touch Call waiting switch.

Managing contacts

  • Creating a contact: Touch Contacts > . Select save location, enter details, touch .
  • Editing a contact: Touch Contacts, touch and hold contact, touch Edit, edit, touch .
  • Deleting contacts: Touch Contacts > > Delete. Select contacts, touch . Touch Delete.

Importing or exporting contacts

Supports .vcf files.

  • Import from storage: Contacts > > Import/Export > Import from storage. Select .vcf files, touch OK.
  • Import from SIM card: Contacts > > Import/Export > Import from SIM 1/2 card. Select contacts, touch . Choose save location.
  • Import from Bluetooth device: Contacts > > Import/Export > Import from another phone. Select Supports Bluetooth, touch Next. Enable Bluetooth on both devices. Touch Next. Select device.
  • Import using Wi-Fi Direct: Contacts > > Import/Export > Import from another phone. Select Import via Wi-Fi Direct, touch Next. Enable Wi-Fi. Select device.
  • Export to storage: Contacts > > Import/Export > Export to storage. Touch Export. Choose location.
  • Export to SIM card: Contacts > > Import/Export > Export to SIM 1/2 card. Select contacts, touch . Touch OK.
  • Sharing contacts: Contacts > > Import/Export > Share contacts. Select contacts, touch . Select sharing method.

Adding a contact to your favourites

Touch and hold contact, touch Add to Favourites. Or, on contact details screen, touch .

Contact groups

  • Creating a group: Touch Contacts > Groups > . Name group, touch OK. Touch . Select contacts, touch .
  • Editing a group: Touch Contacts > Groups, select group. Touch to add members. Touch . Options: Remove members, Delete group, Rename.
  • Sending messages/emails to a group: Touch Contacts > Groups, select group. Touch to message or to email.
  • Deleting a group: Touch Contacts > Groups. Touch and hold group, touch Delete. Touch Delete. (Contacts remain on phone).

Messaging and email

Sending a text message

Steps: 1. Touch Messaging. 2. Touch . 3. Select recipient or enter number. 4. Compose message. Touch to add attachments (converts to MMS if media attached). 5. Touch .

Replying to a message

Steps: 1. Touch Messaging. 2. Touch conversation thread. 3. Compose reply. 4. Touch .

Managing messages

  • Forwarding: Touch and hold message, touch > . Enter recipient, touch .
  • Adding to favourites: Touch and hold message, touch > Copy to Favourites. View favourites via > Favourites.
  • Deleting a message: Touch and hold message, touch . Touch Delete.
  • Deleting a thread: Touch > Remove. Select thread, touch . Touch Delete.

Setting up an email account

  • Adding an account: Touch Email > Others. Enter email/password, touch Next. Follow onscreen instructions.
  • Adding an Exchange account: Touch Email > Exchange. Enter email, domain, username, password, touch Next. Follow instructions.

Note: Contact email provider for settings if unsure.

Sending an email

Steps: 1. Touch Email. 2. Touch . 3. Select account (From:). 4. Enter recipients. 5. Compose email, touch to add attachments. 6. Touch .

Checking your email

Steps: 1. Touch Email. 2. In Inbox, touch in upper left to select account. 3. Touch email to read. Options: delete, reply, reply all, forward. Swipe left/right for previous/next email. Swipe down to refresh.

Account settings

  • Switching accounts: Touch Email > in upper left to open account list. Select account.
  • Removing an account: Touch Email > > Settings. Select account, touch Remove account > OK.
  • Personalising: Touch Email > > Settings. Options include display settings, signature, update frequency, notification tones.

Camera and gallery

Capture screen

Elements include: Flash modes (1), Capture modes (2), View photos/videos (3), Shutter button (4 - touch for photo, touch and hold for burst), Filters (5), Focus/Zoom (6), Camera switch (7), More options (8).

Taking a photo

Steps: 1. Touch Camera. 2. Frame scene. Touch screen to focus. 3. Touch .

Note: If GPS tag enabled, photo location is saved.

Launching the camera from the gallery

Steps: 1. Touch Gallery. 2. Under Photos, swipe down albums to show viewfinder, swipe down again to launch camera. 3. Touch to take photo. 4. Touch Return.

Note: Not all camera features available in half-screen mode.

Capture modes

  • Beauty: Facial enhancement.
  • Panorama: Wide shots.
  • HDR: Enhances photos in poor lighting.
  • All-focus: Re-adjust focal point later.
  • Best photo: Takes multiple shots, selects the best.
  • Watermark: Adds watermarks.
  • Audio note: Records audio clip after photo.
  • Audio control: Voice commands to take photos.
  • Timer: Countdown timer.
  • Touch to capture: Touch screen to take photo.
  • Capture smiles: Automatically takes photo when smile detected.
  • Object tracking: Tracks and stays focused on a selected object.
  • Ultra snapshot: Double-press volume down key (screen off/locked) to take photo.

Taking a panoramic photo

Steps: 1. Touch Camera > > Panorama. 2. Touch to start. 3. Move phone slowly as instructed. 4. Touch to stop. Photos are stitched automatically.

Using best photo mode

Steps: 1. Touch Camera > > Best photo. 2. Touch to shoot. Phone selects best photo. 3. Touch to confirm selection (or select other photos).

Adding watermarks to photos

Steps: 1. Touch Camera > > Watermark. 2. Select watermark. 3. Drag to position. 4. Touch .

Taking a photo using audio control

Steps: 1. Touch Camera > > Audio control. 2. Enable Audio control. 3. Frame scene. Phone takes photo on voice command or when noise level is met.

Object tracking mode

Steps: 1. Touch Camera > > . 2. Enable Object tracking. 3. Touch object to track.

Note: Object tracking and smile capture cannot be used simultaneously.

All focus mode

Steps: 1. Touch Camera > > All-focus. 2. Touch to take photo. 3. In Gallery, select photo (indicated by ). 4. Touch to edit focus. 5. Touch another area to focus. 6. Touch .

Shooting a video

Steps: 1. Touch Camera, swipe to Video. 2. Touch to start recording. 3. While recording, touch to focus. Touch to pause, touch to resume. 4. Touch to stop.

Note: Touch to take a still photo during video recording.

Video shooting modes

  • Beauty mode: Automatic facial enhancement during recording.
  • Object tracking: Tracks a selected object.

Access modes via Camera > > on video screen.

Camera settings

Access via capture screen > . Settings include:

  • Resolution: Set photo/video resolution.
  • GPS tag: Record location.
  • Preferred save location: Set default storage.
  • Perfect selfie: Enable for auto facial recognition.
  • ISO: Adjust sensitivity.
  • White balance: Adjust colour temperature.
  • Image adjustment: Adjust exposure, saturation, contrast, brightness.

Gallery

  • Viewing photos: Touch Gallery. View by Photos (timeline, map), Albums.
  • Playing a slideshow: Touch Gallery > Photos > > Slideshow.
  • Editing a photo: Touch Gallery, select photo, touch . Options: rotate, crop, filter, adjust colour, beautify faces, mosaic, watermark, label.
  • Hiding photos: Touch Gallery > Albums > > Hide albums. Touch switch next to album.
  • Deleting a photo: Select photo, touch > Delete.
  • Sharing photos/videos: Select item, touch , choose method.
  • Setting as wallpaper: Select photo, touch > Set as.
  • Taking a screenshot: Press power and volume down buttons simultaneously. Access via notification panel. Saved to Screenshot folder.

Scanning a QR code

  • Using gallery: Open QR code photo in Gallery, touch photo. Gallery scans. Touch link to view info.
  • Using camera: Open Camera, frame QR code. Camera scans. Touch link to view info.

Music and videos

Adding songs

Copy songs via USB, download from Internet, copy via Bluetooth, or use Wi-Fi Direct.

Listening to music

Steps: 1. Touch Music. 2. Select category. 3. Touch song to play. Main playback interface shows album cover, playlist, lyrics. Controls for volume, playback, progress slider.

Note: Touch Home to exit playback without stopping song. Return via notification panel.

Creating a playlist

Steps: 1. Touch Music > Playlists > Create new playlist. 2. Name playlist, touch Save. 3. Touch Add, select songs, touch .

Playing a playlist

Steps: 1. Touch Music > Playlists. 2. Select playlist, touch song or shuffle all.

Deleting a playlist

Steps: 1. Touch Music > Playlists. 2. Touch next to playlist, touch Delete.

Setting a song as the ringtone

Steps: 1. Touch Music. 2. Select category. 3. On song list, touch next to song, touch Set as ringtone.

Playing a video

Steps: 1. Touch Videos. 2. Touch video to play. 3. Touch to stop.

Playback controls: Lock screen (1), rewind/fast-forward, adjust brightness (swipe up/down left), adjust volume (swipe up/down right), stream to TV (3).

Network and sharing

Enabling mobile data

Steps: 1. Touch Settings > All. 2. Under Wireless & networks, touch More. 3. Touch Mobile network. 4. Touch Mobile data switch.

Note: Disable when not needed to save battery and data.

Wi-Fi network

Connecting to a Wi-Fi network

Steps: 1. Touch Settings > Wi-Fi. 2. Turn on Wi-Fi. 3. Select network. Enter password if encrypted.

Connecting to a Wi-Fi network using WPS

Steps: 1. Touch Settings > Wi-Fi. 2. Turn on Wi-Fi. 3. Touch > Advanced settings. 4. Touch WPS connection (press router button) or WPS PIN connection (enter PIN).

Sharing your phone's mobile data

Wi-Fi hotspot

Steps: 1. Touch Settings > All > More > Tethering & portable hotspot > Portable Wi-Fi hotspot. 2. Turn on hotspot. 3. Touch Configure Wi-Fi hotspot to set name, encryption (WPA2 PSK recommended), password. Touch Save.

USB tethering

Share data connection with a computer via USB. Steps: 1. Connect phone to computer via USB. 2. Touch Settings > All > More > Tethering & portable hotspot. 3. Touch USB tethering switch.

Note: Cannot be used in USB mass storage mode.

Bluetooth tethering

Share data connection with other devices via Bluetooth. Steps: 1. Touch Settings > All > More > Tethering & portable hotspot. 2. Touch Bluetooth tethering switch.

Transferring data using Bluetooth

Turning on Bluetooth and pairing

Steps: 1. Touch Settings > Bluetooth. 2. Turn on Bluetooth. Phone scans for devices. 3. Touch device and follow instructions to pair. Unpair by touching next to device and touching Unpair.

Renaming your phone

Steps: 1. Touch Settings > Bluetooth. 2. Touch Device name. 3. Rename and touch OK.

Sending a file using Bluetooth

Turn on Bluetooth on both devices. Touch and hold file, touch Share > Bluetooth. Select receiving device.

Receiving a file using Bluetooth

When a request is received, touch Accept. Check progress in notification panel. Files saved to bluetooth folder in Files.

Transferring data using Wi-Fi Direct

Connects two devices directly without an access point.

Connecting two devices

Ensure Wi-Fi Direct is enabled on both devices. Steps: 1. Touch Settings > Wi-Fi. 2. Touch Wi-Fi direct. Phone scans for devices. 3. Select device.

Sending a file using Wi-Fi Direct

Touch and hold file, touch Share > Wi-Fi direct. Select receiving device.

Receiving a file using Wi-Fi Direct

When a request is made, touch Accept. Check progress in notification panel. Files saved to Wi-Fi Direct folder in Files.

Transferring data between your phone and computer

Connecting in picture transfer mode (PTP)

Steps: 1. Connect phone to computer via USB. 2. Swipe down status bar, set USB connected to Photos. Drivers install automatically. Access images via computer's drive icon.

Connecting in media transfer mode (MTP)

Requires Windows Media Player 11+. Steps: 1. Connect phone to computer via USB. 2. Swipe down status bar, set USB connected to Files. Drivers install automatically. Access files via computer's drive icon. Browse media with Windows Media Player.

Connecting in USB flash drive mode

Requires microSD card. Steps: 1. Connect phone to computer via USB. 2. Swipe down status bar, set USB connected to USB drive. Drivers install automatically. Access microSD card files via computer's drive icon.

Multi-screen display

Push photos, videos, or games to a larger screen (e.g., TV). Requires compatible TV or Android TV Box. Steps: Open notification panel, touch , select receiving device.

Apps

Managing applications

  • Downloading: Via app market, web pages, third-party software.
  • Installing: Touch Files > Apps > Apps. Select app, follow instructions. Allow installation from unknown sources if prompted.
  • Sharing: Touch and hold app icon, drag to . Select sharing method. (Some pre-installed apps cannot be shared).
  • Uninstalling: Touch and hold app icon, drag to . Follow instructions. (Some pre-installed apps cannot be uninstalled).

Backup

  • Backing up data to local storage: Touch Tools > Backup > New backup. Select data, follow instructions. Data saved to HuaweiBackup folder. (Backup files can be encrypted).
  • Restoring data from local storage: Touch Tools > Backup. Select data to restore (check backup time). Enter password if encrypted. Select data, touch Restore.

Phone Manager

System management tool for phone protection and management.

  • Optimising the system: Touch Phone Manager. Touch Scan to clean trash, optimize, eliminate threats. Touch Phone accelerator to close unneeded apps. Touch Storage cleaner to free up space.
  • Power saving: Touch Phone Manager > Power saving to check consumption and extend standby time. Switch power saving modes.
  • Harassment filter: Touch Phone Manager > Harassment filter to set blacklist. Touch Notification centre to block app notifications. Enable Do not disturb.
  • Managing data usage: Touch Phone Manager > Traffic manager to set data limits and view usage.

Calendar

  • Creating an event: Touch Calendar > . Enter details (name, time, location, repeat), touch .
  • Viewing the calendar: Touch Calendar. Switch between Month, Week, Day views. Swipe left/right to navigate.
  • Synchronising calendars: Touch Calendar > > Calendars to be displayed. Select account. Touch > Calendars to be synced. Select account.

Clock

  • Alarm: Add, enable/disable, configure settings (snooze, silent mode), delete alarms.
  • World clock: Add cities, set home time zone, remove cities.
  • Stopwatch: Start, count laps, pause, clear records.
  • Timer: Set countdown time, set tone, start, reset.

Weather

  • Adding a city: Touch Tools > Weather > . Enter city name. Select city.
  • Removing cities: Touch Tools > Weather > . Touch and hold city, select . Touch .
  • Updating the weather: Swipe left/right to city, swipe down to manually update. Configure automatic updates in > .

Notes

  • Adding a note: Touch Tools > Notepad > New note. Enter content, touch . Options to share, delete, add to favourites.
  • Modifying notepad settings: Touch Tools > Notepad > > Settings. Adjust font size, viewing format.

FM Radio

Connect headset first (acts as antenna).

  • Searching for stations: Touch Tools > FM Radio > > . Radio searches and saves stations.
  • Listening to FM radio: Touch Tools > FM Radio. Controls: Speaker on/off (1), Radio on/off (2), Previous station (3), Next station (4), Add to favourites (5), Settings (6 - station list, favourites, timer).

Phone settings

Turning on location services

Steps: 1. Touch Settings > Location services. 2. Enable Access to my location. 3. Touch Mode (High accuracy, Battery saving, Device only).

Modifying sound settings

Steps: 1. Touch Settings > Sound. Options include Volumes, Silent mode, Vibrate in silent mode, Ringtones, Notification tones, System sounds (touch/lock screen, dialling).

Modifying display settings

Steps: 1. Touch Settings > Display. Options include Wallpaper, Font size, Daydream (screensaver), Indicator light, Display carrier name, Display network speed, Brightness, Sleep (auto-lock), Auto-rotate screen.

Enabling one-hand UI

Makes large screens easier to use. Steps: 1. Touch Settings > One-hand UI. Options: One-hand layout (swipe virtual navigation bar), Shifting keyboard (move keyboard/dialler).

Note: May not be available on all phones.

Touch-disable mode

Prevents unintended screen operations. Steps: 1. Touch Settings > Smart assistance > More. 2. Enable Touch-disable mode. Screen disabled when top is covered.

Note: May not be available on all phones.

Turning on gloves mode

Allows touchscreen operation with gloves. Steps: 1. Touch Settings > Smart assistance > More. 2. Enable Gloves mode switch.

Note: May not be available on all phones.

Using the suspend button

Quick launch tool. Steps: 1. Touch Settings > Smart assistance > More > Suspend button. 2. Enable Suspend button. Appears on all screens except lock screen/notification panel. Touch to expand menu: Return, Home, Recent apps, Lock screen, Memory cleanup, Collapse menu.

Note: May not be available on all phones.

Changing the lock screen style

  • Set screen unlock pattern: Settings > Screen lock & passwords > Password > Pattern. Draw pattern, confirm. Set PIN as alternative.
  • Set screen unlock PIN: Settings > Screen lock & passwords > Password > PIN. Enter PIN, confirm.
  • Set screen unlock password: Settings > Screen lock & passwords > Password > Password. Enter password, confirm.

Turning aeroplane mode on or off

Disables wireless features. Methods: 1. Swipe down status bar, touch Aeroplane mode switch in Shortcuts. 2. Press and hold power button, touch Aeroplane mode. 3. Settings > More > Aeroplane mode switch.

Note: Icon appears in status bar when enabled.

Setting your SIM card PIN

Protects phone data. Steps: 1. Touch Settings > Security > Set SIM 1 / SIM 2 lock. 2. Touch Lock SIM card. 3. Enter PIN, touch OK. 4. Touch Change SIM PIN to change.

Note: Incorrect PIN attempts may lock SIM. Obtain PUK from carrier. Excessive PUK attempts permanently disable SIM.

Setting up an account

  • Adding an account: Settings > Accounts > Add account. Select type, follow instructions.
  • Deleting an account: Settings > Accounts. Select account type, select account, follow instructions.
  • Synchronising email: Settings > Accounts > Auto-sync data. Select account type, select account, enable Sync Email switch.

Restoring factory settings

Erases all personal data. Back up important data first. Steps: 1. Touch Settings > Backup & reset. 2. Touch Factory data reset > Reset phone > Reset phone. Phone restarts.

Updating your phone

  • Online update: Ensure Internet connection. Settings > Update > Check for updates. Follow instructions. (Recommended over Wi-Fi to avoid data charges).
  • Local update: Download update package from http://www.hihonor.com. Save dload folder to internal storage root or microSD card root. Settings > Update > > Local update. Follow instructions.

Setting the date and time

Steps: 1. Touch Settings > Date & time. Options: Automatic date/time/time zone, Use 24-hour format, Select date format, Dual clocks.

Note: Manual settings may not be supported by all carriers.

Changing the system language

Steps: 1. Touch Settings > Language & input > Language & region. 2. Select desired language.

Privacy protection

Prevent others from accessing private content. Set owner and guest passwords.

  • Enabling privacy protection: Settings > Security > Privacy protection > Let's start. Select password type, enter owner/guest passwords. Owner password grants full access; guest password grants access to unprotected content.
  • Setting private information: Settings > Security > Privacy protection. Enter owner password. Under Set private data, set private contacts, albums, applications.
  • Disabling privacy protection: Settings > Security > Privacy protection. Enter owner password. Disable Privacy protection. Owner password becomes screen unlock password; guest password invalid.

Accessibility

Features for visually impaired users, e.g., zoom gestures, enlarged font size. Steps: 1. Touch Settings > Accessibility. 2. Select features to enable.
