IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS AND INSTRUCTIONS

When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, injury to persons, and hyperthermia, including the following:

  1. Read all instructions before using this heater.
  2. This heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, DO NOT let bare skin touch hot surfaces. If provided, use handles when moving this heater. Keep combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, and curtains at least 3 feet (0.9m) from the front of the heater and keep them away from the sides and rear.
  3. Extreme caution is necessary when any heater is used by or near children or people with disabilities and whenever the heater is left operating and unattended.
  4. ALWAYS unplug heater when not in use.
  5. DO NOT operate any heater with a damaged cord or plug or after the heater malfunctions, has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Discard heater or return to authorized service facility for examination and/or repair.
  6. DO NOT use outdoors.
  7. This heater is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry areas and similar indoor locations. NEVER locate heater where it may fall into a bathtub or other places containing water.
  8. DO NOT run cord under carpeting. DO NOT cover cord with throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings. DO NOT route cord under furniture or appliances. Arrange cord away from traffic area and where it will not be tripped over.
  9. To disconnect heater, turn controls to off, then remove plug from outlet.
  10. Connect to properly grounded outlets only.
  11. DO NOT insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire or damage the heater.
  12. To prevent a possible fire, DO NOT block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. DO NOT use on soft surfaces, like a bed, where openings may become blocked.
  13. A heater has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. DO NOT use it in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored.
  14. Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  15. Always plug heaters directly into a wall outlet/receptacle. NEVER use with an extension cord or relocatable power tap (outlet/power strip).
  16. This heater may include an audible (a visual) alarm to warn that parts of the heater are getting excessively hot. If the alarm sounds (flashes), immediately turn the heater off and inspect for any objects on or adjacent to the heater that may cause high temperatures. DO NOT OPERATE THE HEATER WITH THE ALARM SOUNDING (FLASHING).
  17. Any repairs to this appliance should be carried out by a qualified service person only.
  18. Under no circumstances should this appliance be modified. Parts having to be removed for servicing must be replaced prior to operating this appliance again.
  19. DO NOT use this heater in elevated locations, such as on shelves, raised platforms, etc.
  20. This appliance, when installed, must be electrically grounded in accordance with local codes, with the current CSA C22.0 Canadian Electrical codes or for USA installations, follow local codes or for USA installations, follow local codes and the National Electric code ANSI/NFPA No. 70.
  21. Hyperthermia can result in death. Symptoms of hyperthermia include high body temperature, headache, nausea, vomiting, tiredness, dizziness, fainting, and rapid pulse. If you begin to experience symptoms related to hyperthermia, turn off the heater and seek medical attention.
  22. To avoid excessive room temperatures which can cause hyperthermia: DO NOT leave product running unattended in a confined space around infants, or individuals with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR POWER

WARNING: Before servicing this heater ensure the heater is not plugged into an outlet and the Power Control Setting is set to OFF.

WARNING: The power cord has a polarized plug (with one blade wider than the other) that will only fit in a polarized outlet in one direction. If it does not insert easily try reversing the plug. If it still does not fit contact your electrician to replace your outlet. DO NOT defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock and injury, the electrical outlet wiring must comply with local building codes and all other applicable regulations.

WARNING: Do not use this appliance if any part of it has been under water. Immediately call a qualified service technician to inspect the appliance and replace any part of the electrical system if necessary.

DESCRIPTION (CONTROLS)

A diagram shows the front of the heater with three numbered indicators:

THERMOSTAT SETTING

Used to set the temperature. Turn the knob clockwise to increase the temperature setting. Turn counter-clockwise to turn thermostat temperature setting lower.

Important Note: Thermostat Control will automatically maintain the pre-set temperature level by turning the heater ON and OFF. Note: It is normal for the heater to cycle ON and OFF as it maintains the preset temperature.

POWER CONTROL SETTING

Allows you to set the heater to High (1500W), Low (750W) Fan or Off Setting.

POWER INDICATOR LIGHT

This power indicator light will illuminate when control is turned to Fan Low or High position.

ADDED SAFETY FEATURES

OVERHEAT SAFETY FEATURE

This heater is equipped with overheat protection. In the event that the heater grill is obstructed, or if the heater gets too hot for any reason, the overheat safety feature will automatically turn the heater off.

To reset the heater, simply turn off the power, unplug the heater, remove any obstructions and leave the unit unplugged for 10 minutes until the heater cools completely. After this time, plug the heater back into the outlet and turn unit on. Overheat Safety Feature should now be reset automatically.

TIP-OVER SAFETY FEATURE

In the event the heater is accidentally tipped over, an external switch located on the bottom of the heater will automatically turn the heater off. When the heater is placed back into the upright position, the heater will reset automatically.

OPERATION

  1. Carefully remove your heater from the box. Ensure the unit is in the OFF position before plugging the heater into the outlet. IMPORTANT: Place heater on a firm level surface.
  2. Plug the power cord into an electrical outlet. (110-120V AC, 60Hz)
  3. Turn the Power Control Setting Knob to the desired heat setting LOW (750W), HIGH (1500W) or Fan-only operation. Note: In fan setting there is no heat. The power indicator light will be on to indicate that the unit is on.
  4. Adjust the thermostat setting. Turn the knob clockwise to increase the temperature setting; turn the knob counter-clockwise to decrease the temperature. When the desired temperature/comfort level is reached, lower the thermostat setting until the fan/heater stops operating.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Before setting the thermostat, allow the heater to operate and warm up the room. You should set the thermostat to High to start the heater.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The heater will automatically maintain the pre-set temperature level by turning the heater ON and OFF as required.

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is normal for the heater to cycle ON and OFF as it maintains the preset temperature. To prevent the unit from cycling ON/OFF, you need to change the thermostat setting.

TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE CORRECTIVE ACTION
The heater shuts off unexpectedly or fails to operate 1. No Power.
2. One of the safety features may have activated to prevent overheating.
3. Heater falls over or is not placed on a solid surface.
4. Ensure the power cord is plugged into a working electric outlet.
5. Check your thermostat setting. The heater may be off because it has reached the desired temperature setting.
6. Place heater on a flat, solid surface.

This warranty applies to repair or replacement of product found to be defective in material or workmanship for one year from the date of the original purchase. This warranty is extended only to the original purchaser.

This warranty only covers products that are properly installed, properly maintained, and properly operated in accordance with the instructions provided. This limited warranty does not cover any failures or operating difficulties due to normal wear and tear, accident, abuse, misuse, alteration, misapplication, improper installation, or improper maintenance and service by you or any third party.

Returned product will not be accepted without a Return Authorization number. To request a Return Authorization number, please visit us at www.royalsovereign.ca. All transportation costs for the return of damaged product or parts will be the responsibility of the purchaser. Return defective product, in original packaging, to the address below.

RS International Canada Inc. requires reasonable proof of your date of purchase from an authorized retailer or distributor. Therefore, you should keep your receipt, invoice, or canceled check from the original purchase. The limited warranty shall be limited to the repair or replacement of parts which prove defective under normal use and service within the warranty period.
