Electrical Connection
LOCAL AUTHORITY REQUIREMENTS: Installation is only permitted by a licensed electrician, and carried out according to manufacturer's instructions. Incorrect installation may cause harm and damage, for which the manufacturer accepts no responsibility.
Before connecting to the power supply, check the appliance's voltage rating against the available mains supply voltage. Ensure the mains electric wiring can handle the cooktop's power rating. If in doubt, call a qualified technician.
NOTE: For mains power supply connections, never use adapters, reductions, or multiple power points as they may overheat and catch fire. Do not install separate timers.
After installation, the switched outlet must always be accessible.
The electrical safety of this appliance is guaranteed only if it is correctly and efficiently earthed. If you have any doubts, call a licensed electrician to check the system. The manufacturer declines all responsibility for damage resulting from an installation not correctly earthed.
WARNING: If the power cable is damaged during or after installation, it must be replaced immediately by a licensed electrician with a replacement cable from your Service Centre.
The cooktops are to be connected to a single phase 230-240Vac 50 Hz supply and are earthed via the cable.
The mains terminal block is located on the underside of the cooktop and is accessible by removing the terminal block cover. Connect the appliance as shown in the diagram.
The appliance is designed for fixed connection to the mains. During installation, an all-pole disconnector with a contact opening of at least 3mm (rated 32A, delay functioning type) should be included in the supply circuit. The power supply cord must not touch any hot surfaces and must be placed so that its temperature does not exceed 75°C at any point along its length.
IMPORTANT: The appliance must NOT be connected to the mains supply by means of a 10A or 15A plug and socket.
Wiring Diagram: Shows a terminal block with connections labeled L (Live), N (Neutral), and PE (Protective Earth). It indicates the use of 3x2.5 mm² wires for 220V, 230V, and 240V connections. A note specifies that the appliance must be earthed and a power lead of type H05VV-F should be used.
Operating Instructions
Ceramic Heater
The ceramic heater is controlled by a 6-position knob. Turn the control knob to the required setting. Near each control knob is a symbol indicating the heater it controls. The on/off light on the control panel shows if any ceramic heaters are in use.
Knob Position | Function |
---|---|
0 | Off position |
1 | Keep warm position |
2-3 | Heating position at low heat |
4-5-6 | Cooking, roasting and boiling position |
Residual Heat Indicator
After using the hob, heat is stored in the vitro-ceramic glass as residual heat. If the residual heat level is greater than +60°C, the residual heat indicator will be active for the cooking zone above this temperature.
If the power supply to the hob is disconnected while the residual heat indicator is on, the warning light will flash when power is reconnected. The display will flash until the residual heat has decreased or a cooking zone is activated.
Hints and Tips
Important: When ceramic heaters are operated at higher heat settings, the heated areas may be seen switching on and off. This is a safety device preventing the glass from overheating and is normal at high temperatures, causing no damage to the hob and little delay in cooking times.
- WARNING: Never operate the hob without pans on the cooking zone.
- Use only flat saucepans with a sufficiently thick base.
- Make sure the bottom of the pan is dry before placing it on the hob.
- While the cooking zone is in operation, ensure the pan is centred correctly above the zone.
- To conserve energy, never use a pan with a different diameter to the hotplate being used.
- Do not use pans with rough bottoms as they can scratch the glass ceramic surface.
- If possible, always place lids on the pans.
- The temperature of accessible parts may become high during operation. Keep children and animals well away from the hob during operation and until it has fully cooled.
- If you notice a crack on the cooktop, switch it off immediately and have it replaced by authorised service personnel.
Pan Compatibility Diagram: Shows correct and incorrect pan usage. Correct usage includes a circular saucepan base and a saucepan of appropriate diameter. Incorrect usage includes a small saucepan diameter and a saucepan base that has not settled flat.
Cleaning and Maintenance
WARNING: Switch off the appliance and allow it to cool before cleaning.
General Instructions
- Check that cleaning materials are appropriate and recommended by the manufacturer before use.
- Use cream cleaners or liquid cleaners without particles. Do not use caustic creams, abrasive cleaning powders, rough wire wool, or hard tools as they may damage cooker surfaces.
- Do not use cleaners with particles, as they may scratch the glass, enameled, or painted parts.
- Clean any liquid overflows immediately to prevent damage.
- Do not use steam cleaners for any part of the appliance.
Cleaning the Ceramic Glass
Ceramic glass can hold heavy utensils but may break if hit with a sharp object.
WARNING: Ceramic Cooktops - If the surface is cracked, switch off the appliance and call for service to avoid electric shock.
- Use a cream or liquid cleaner for the vitro-ceramic glass. Rinse and dry thoroughly with a dry cloth.
- Do not use cleaning materials meant for steel, as they may damage the glass.
- Substances with a low melting point in cookware bases or coatings can damage the glass-ceramic cooktop. If plastic, tin foil, sugar, or sugary foods fall onto the hot glass-ceramic cooktop, scrape them off quickly and safely. If these substances melt, they can damage the cooktop. When cooking very sugary items like jam, apply a suitable protective agent beforehand if possible.
- Dust on the surface must be cleaned with a wet cloth.
- Any changes in colour to the ceramic glass will not affect its structure or durability and are not due to a change in the material. Possible reasons for colour changes include:
- Spilt food not cleaned off the surface.
- Using incorrect dishes on the hob, which can erode the surface.
- Using the wrong cleaning materials.
Cleaning the Stainless Steel Parts
- Clean the stainless steel parts of your appliance regularly.
- Wipe stainless steel parts with a soft cloth soaked in water. Dry thoroughly with a dry cloth.
- Do not clean stainless steel parts while they are still hot from cooking.
- Do not leave vinegar, coffee, milk, salt, water, lemon, or tomato juice on the stainless steel for extended periods.
