Intended Use
The device is intended for playing radio broadcasts and audio CDs. Do not use the device for any other purpose. Do not use the device outdoors. The device is intended for private use only, not for industrial/commercial use. Please note that in case of non-intended use, liability is void:
- Do not modify the device without our consent and do not use unauthorized or supplied accessories.
- Only use replacement and accessory parts supplied or approved by us.
- Observe all information in this user manual, especially the safety instructions. Any other operation is considered non-intended use and can lead to personal injury or property damage.
- Do not use the device under extreme environmental conditions.
Safety Instructions
3.1. Unsuitable Persons
Keep the device and accessories out of reach of children. This device can be used by children aged 8 years and above, and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge, if they are supervised or have been instructed on the safe use of the device and understand the resulting dangers. Children are not allowed to play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children unless they are 8 years or older and are supervised. Children younger than 8 years should be kept away from the device and its power cord. DANGER! Keep packaging foils away from children. There is a risk of suffocation!
3.2. Mounting the Device Safely
The device should be mounted below a horizontal mounting plate. Never mount the device above hotplates or other heat or steam sources (like kettles, etc.). Do not let the power cord hang over a hotplate or other heat source. When mounting, ensure that:
- Ventilation slots are not covered to ensure adequate ventilation.
- No direct heat sources (e.g., heaters) affect the device.
- No direct sunlight hits the device.
- Contact with moisture, water, or splash water is avoided, and no liquid-filled containers (e.g., vases) are placed on the device.
- The device is not exposed to dripping or splashing water.
- The device is not placed near magnetic fields (e.g., televisions or other loudspeakers).
- No open flames (e.g., burning candles) are near the device.
- The power cord is not under tension and is not kinked.
3.3. Keep Power Connection Accessible
Connect the device only to an easily accessible socket (100-240 V ~ 50/60 Hz) located near the installation site. In case you need to quickly disconnect the device from the mains, the socket must be freely accessible. In case of thunderstorms, or if you do not intend to use the device for a longer period, disconnect it from the mains. Unplug the power adapter from the socket when not in use, or use a master/slave power strip to avoid power consumption in standby mode.
3.4. Never Repair Yourself
If the power cord of this device is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its customer service, or a similarly qualified person to avoid hazards. Never open the device's housing. Touching live parts or altering the electrical and mechanical structure may endanger you and lead to malfunctions. DANGER! Do not attempt to open and/or repair the device. There is a risk of electric shock! Contact a qualified workshop.
3.5. In Case of Damage
In case of damage to the device or the power cord, immediately unplug the power adapter from the socket. WARNING! Never attempt to open and/or repair the device yourself. There is a risk of electric shock! If the power cord of this device is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its customer service, or a similarly qualified person to avoid hazards. In case of a malfunction, contact our service center or another suitable workshop to avoid hazards.
3.6. In Case of Malfunctions
If the device shows malfunctions, it may be due to electrostatic discharge. In this case, unplug the power cord and remove the batteries. Then reinsert the batteries and reconnect the device to the mains. The device will be reset this way.
3.7. CD Player
The CD player is a Class 1 laser product. The device is equipped with a safety system that prevents the emission of dangerous laser beams during normal use. To avoid eye injuries, never manipulate or damage the device's safety system.
3.8. Drives and Connections
Do not insert any foreign objects into the openings of the CD player. This can damage the device. Always insert CDs with the labeled side facing up into the disc compartment. Never use excessive force when inserting a disc or connecting an external device. If you feel resistance, try another method or a different medium.
3.9. Safe Handling of Batteries
Observe the following instructions when handling batteries:
- Keep batteries away from children. If a battery is swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
- Before inserting batteries, check if the contacts in the device and on the batteries are clean, and clean them if necessary.
- Always use new batteries. Never use old and new batteries together.
- Do not mix battery types.
- Pay attention to the polarity (+/-) when inserting batteries.
- Replace batteries only with the same or an equivalent type. Never attempt to recharge batteries. There is a risk of explosion!
- CAUTION! Risk of explosion when replacing batteries improperly!
- Store batteries in a cool, dry place. Direct strong heat can damage batteries or cause battery acid to leak. Therefore, do not expose the device to strong heat sources such as sunshine, fire, or the like.
- Do not short-circuit batteries.
- Do not throw batteries into fire.
- Immediately remove leaked batteries from the device. Clean the contacts before inserting new batteries. There is a risk of chemical burns from battery acid! Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and mucous membranes. In case of contact with battery acid, rinse the affected areas immediately with plenty of clear water and seek medical attention.
- Remove empty batteries from the device.
- If you do not use the device for a longer period, remove the batteries.

Device Overview
5.1. Front View
The front of the device features:
- 1) Display: Shows information like time, radio frequency, track numbers, etc.
- 2) CD Compartment: Slot for inserting CDs.
- 3) Infrared Sensor: Receives infrared signals from the remote control.
- 4) AUX: Connection for external audio output devices.
- 5) VOL-/AL1: Decreases volume, sets/activates/deactivates Alarm 1.
- 6) OPEN: Opens the CD compartment.
- 7) VOL+/AL2: Increases volume, sets/activates/deactivates Alarm 2.
- 8) Power: Turns the device on/off.
- 9) MODE: Function selection button (Radio, Clock, Settings), activates key lock.
- 10) EQ: (Equalizer) Selects sound modes from 7 presets.

The display shows various indicators:

- 3) Clock/Tuning Indicator: Shows clock setting or tuning activity.
- 4) SDA: Special Date Alarm indicator.
- 5) Cook Timer: Timer indicator.
- 6) AOT: Automatic Off-Timer/Sleep-Timer indicator.
- 7) Pause: Indicates playback is paused.
- 8) Play/Start: Indicates playback is starting.
- 9) Key Lock: Indicates key lock is active.

5.4. Remote Control
The remote control allows operation of the device from a distance. Key functions include:
- Power (⏻): Turns the device on/off.
- MODE (?): Selects operating mode (Radio, Clock, Settings), activates key lock.
- OPEN (?️): Opens the CD compartment.
- VOL-/AL1 (?): Decreases volume, sets/activates/deactivates Alarm 1.
- Repeat (?): Activates/deactivates repeat function.
- VOL+/AL2 (?): Increases volume, sets/activates/deactivates Alarm 2.
- ⏪: In CD mode: previous track, fast rewind. In radio mode: previous frequency, scan backward.
- ▶️⏸️: Starts/pauses playback, automatic station storage.
- ⏩: In CD mode: next track, fast forward. In radio mode: next frequency, scan forward.
- PRE-: Selects previous preset/memory slot.
- ■: Stops playback.
- PRE+: Selects next preset/memory slot.

Installation
6.1. Hanging Installation
The kitchen radio is designed to be mounted on the underside of a wall cabinet or shelf. You will need 4 screws for mounting. The size and length of the screws must match the mounting plate and bracket. Choose a location near a power outlet. Mark the drill holes using the bracket or mounting template (1). Drill 4 corresponding holes on the underside of the shelf at the marked positions to fasten the screws. Screw the bracket with the spacers to the cabinet or shelf (2). Now place the device onto the bracket's mounting pins and carefully slide it backward until it audibly clicks into place (3).
ATTENTION! Never mount the device above hotplates or other heat or steam sources. Do not let the power cord hang over a heat source.
6.2. Standing Installation
Alternatively to mounting, you can place the device on a table or shelf without permanent fastening.
Getting Started and Operation
7.1. Inserting Batteries into the Remote Control
The remote control uses a CR2025 3V lithium battery. NOTE: When using the remote control for the first time, pull out the transparent foil with the label before use without opening the battery compartment. If the device does not respond or responds poorly to the remote control, the battery needs to be replaced. Follow these steps:
- Press the locking lever (1) and pull out the battery holder with the battery (2) from the remote control. Dispose of the old battery according to legal regulations.
- Insert a new CR2025 3V battery with the positive pole (+) facing upwards into the holder. Ensure correct polarity when inserting.
- Slide the battery holder with the battery back into the remote control completely.
❗ ATTENTION! Risk of explosion if the battery is replaced improperly. Use only the same or an equivalent type for replacement.
7.2. Putting into Operation / Taking Out of Operation
To put the device into operation, connect the supplied power adapter to the power connection on the rear of the device. CAUTION! Only use the supplied power adapter from Hinston Electronics Co. LTD., Model: HEAD0552000 VDE. Connect the power plug to a 100-240 V ~ 50/60 Hz mains socket.
ℹ️ NOTE: When connecting the device for the first time, the display will show "PLEASE WAIT FOR SETTING THANKS". An automatic update function will start within 3-5 minutes. As soon as a signal is received, the current time will be displayed. If the automatic update is interrupted, default information will be displayed: Sunday, 01.01.2012, 00:00. Alarm: 0:00. Automatic Display Dimming Function: 23:00 to 05:59.
7.2.1. Device On / Off
- Press the ⏻ button to turn the device on.
- Press the ⏻ button again to turn the device off.
7.3. Radio Operation
Fully extend the connected telescopic antenna for FM reception. Turn the device on.
7.3.1. Manual Station Search
- Press the ⏩ button to change the received frequency up by one step.
- Press the ⏪ button to change the received frequency down by one step.
- Press and hold the ⏩ or ⏪ buttons respectively to reach the next occupied radio frequency.
- To save the set radio frequency, press the ? (MEM) button once. The MEM indicator will blink in the display, and the last occupied memory slot will blink. Now press the PRE+ or PRE- buttons. When you reach a free memory slot, the indicator will stop blinking. Pressing the ? (MEM) button again will save to this slot.
A total of 64 station memory slots are available (32 each for User A and User B).
7.3.2. Automatic Station Search
The device is in radio mode. Press and hold the ▶️⏸️ button for 2 seconds. The radio will automatically search for and save stations. Previously manually assigned memory slots will be overwritten.
7.3.3. Accessing Stored Stations
Use the PRE+ or PRE- buttons to skip between previously stored radio stations. NOTE: If necessary, re-adjust the telescopic antenna for optimal reception.
7.3.4. Selecting User
Press and hold the FUNC button to switch between USER A and USER B. NOTE: Each user can independently store 32 radio stations.
7.3.5. Volume
Use the VOL- and VOL+ buttons to adjust the volume.
7.4. Playing Audio CDs
- Press the ⏻ button to turn the device on.
- Open the CD compartment using the ?️ (OPEN) button and insert a CD with the label facing up into the CD compartment. "OPEN" will be displayed.
- Close the CD compartment using the ?️ (OPEN) button. The CD will now be read, and "READING" will be displayed. Then, the total number of tracks will appear. Audio CD playback will start automatically with track 1.
- From radio or AUX mode, press the FUNC button several times until "READING" is displayed.
7.4.1. Playback/Pause/Stop
- Press the ▶️⏸️ button on the device to start track playback. To interrupt playback, press the button again. Pressing the button again will resume playback.
- Press the ■ button to stop playback permanently.
7.4.2. Track Selection, Fast Rewind/Forward
- Press the ⏪ button to go to the previous track; use ⏩ to go to the next track.
- Hold down the ⏪ button to perform a fast rewind within a track; use ⏩ for fast forward.
7.4.3. Repeat Track/CD
- During playback, press the ? button to repeat the entire CD. The display will show the repeat indicator.
- Press the button again to repeat the current track. The display will show the repeat indicator.
- Press the button again to activate random playback.
- Pressing the button again will turn off the repeat function.
7.4.4. Programmed Playback
You can program up to 20 tracks in any order, which will then be played sequentially. In stop mode, press the ? (MEM) button to start programming. "P01 T00" will appear in the display, and the PROG indicator will blink. Select the desired track using ⏪ or ⏩ and press ? (MEM) to save the track. Repeat these steps to program multiple tracks. To confirm and play the programmed playlist, press the ▶️⏸️ button. To delete the playlist, press the ■ button twice.
7.5. Connecting Devices via AUX IN
You need an audio cable with a 3.5 mm jack plug. Set the audio device to a medium volume and then turn it off. Connect the 3.5 mm jack plug to the headphone output or LINE OUT connection of the output device. Connect the cable to the AUX input on your kitchen radio. Press the FUNC button several times until "AUX" is displayed.
Basic Settings
The radio must be switched off to make various settings. You can change the following settings:
- Time
- Date
- SDA (Special Date Alarm)
- Automatic Update Function via Radio-Data-System On/Off
- Display Brightness (Dimmer)
- Automatic Dimming Function On/Off
- Auto Dimmer Start Time
- Auto Dimmer End Time
- 12/24 Hour Mode
ℹ️ NOTE: If no button is pressed within 10 seconds in the settings menu, the menu will automatically exit. Settings made up to that point will be saved. To make further changes, you must go through the entire menu again.
8.1. Setting Time Manually
- Press the ? (MODE) button. The time display and clock symbol will start blinking.
- Press the ⏩ button to advance the time by one minute.
- Press the ⏪ button to set the time back by one minute.
- Press and hold the ⏩ or ⏪ buttons respectively to advance or set back the time by 10 minutes.
- Press the ? (MODE) button again to save the setting and proceed to set the date.
8.2. Setting Date
After setting the time, press the ? (MODE) button to set the date. The currently set date will blink. Press the ⏩ button to advance the date by one day. Press the ⏪ button to set the date back by one day. Press and hold the ⏩ or ⏪ buttons respectively to advance or set back the date by 10 days. Press the ? (MODE) button once to confirm the set date and directly proceed to set the Special Date Alarm (SDA).
8.3. Setting SDA (Special Date Alarm)
The SDA function supports storing up to 6 (recurring) dates, such as birthdays. The device will signal the SDA date with an alarm tone on the corresponding day and can be switched off with any button. If the alarm is not acknowledged, it will repeat hourly from 8:00 AM for 10 minutes until 11:00 PM. Press the ? (MODE) button three times to set the Special Date Alarm (SDA). The "SDA1" and date indicators will blink alternately. Use the ▶️⏸️ button to select the memory slot for the Special Date Alarm (SDA1 - SDA6). Press the ⏩ button to advance the date by one day. Press the ⏪ button to set the date back by one day. Press and hold the ⏩ or ⏪ buttons respectively to advance or set back the date by 10 days. Press the ⏱️ (TIMER) button to ignore the year. NOTE: If the year is ignored, the Special Date Alarm will activate on that date every year. Press the ? (MODE) button once to confirm the set SDA date. NOTE: The start time of the Special Date Alarm cannot be changed.
8.4. Automatic Update Function via Radio-Data-System On/Off
Press the ? (MODE) button four times to set the automatic update function. The "UP DATE" indicator will appear in the display. Press the ⏪ button to turn off the automatic update function. No data will be received via the Radio-Data-System. Press the ⏩ button to activate the automatic update function. The clock symbol in the display will start blinking. While the clock symbol is blinking, the device retrieves information from the Radio-Data-System. NOTE: Radio-Data-System is a service from broadcasters. In addition to conventional music and speech content, additional information is transmitted as encrypted digital signals, which can be evaluated and displayed by the radio. The display shows the program name and other information (current time, traffic information, title of the music being played, etc.).
8.5. Setting Display Brightness (Dimmer)
- Press the ? (MODE) button five times until "DIM OFF" appears in the display.
- Press the ⏩ button to set the display brightness to high (the display shows "DIM ON").
- Press the ⏪ button to set the display brightness to low (the display shows "DIM OFF").
- Press the ? (MODE) button once to confirm the set display brightness.
ℹ️ NOTE: In DIM OFF mode, the display backlight is on. In DIM ON mode, the display backlight is off.
8.6. Setting Automatic Dimming Function
With the automatic dimming function, you can control the period during which the display backlight should be deactivated. Press the ? (MODE) button six times until "DT OFF" appears in the display. Press the ⏩ button to activate the automatic dimming function (the display shows "DT ON"). Press the ⏪ button to deactivate the automatic dimming function (the display shows "DT OFF"). The display backlight will then remain continuously lit. NOTE: If the DIM ON function is active (see Section 8.5. Setting Display Brightness (Dimmer) on page 23), the automatic dimming function is not available.
8.7. Setting Start Time for Automatic Dimming Function
This function allows you to set a time when the display backlight should automatically turn off. The dimming function is active (DT ON). Press the ? (MODE) button several times until "DT START" and the start time are displayed alternately. The default start time is 23:00. Press the ⏩ button to advance the time by one minute. Press the ⏪ button to set the time back by one minute. Press and hold the ⏩ or ⏪ buttons respectively to advance or set back the time by 10 minutes. Press the ? (MODE) button again to save the setting.
8.8. Setting End Time for Automatic Dimming Function
This function allows you to set the time when the display backlight should automatically turn back on. The start time is set. Press the ? (MODE) button until "DT STOP" and the stop time are displayed alternately. The default stop time is 06:00. Press the ⏩ button to advance the time by one minute. Press the ⏪ button to set the time back by one minute. Press and hold the ⏩ or ⏪ buttons respectively to advance or set back the time by 10 minutes. Press the ? (MODE) button again to save the setting.
8.9. Setting Time Format
- Press the ? (MODE) button nine times until "24 HOUR" appears in the display.
- Use the ⏩ or ⏪ buttons to set the time format to 24-hour format ("24 HOUR") or 12-hour format ("12 HOUR").
- When the desired time format is set, wait briefly or press ? (MODE). The display will return to the default position.
ℹ️ NOTE: In 12-hour format, "PM" in the display indicates that the time is between 12:00 PM and 11:59 PM (e.g., 3:00 PM = 15:00 Uhr).
8.10. Key Lock
- Press and hold the ? (MODE) button to activate the key lock. The key symbol will appear in the display.
- Press and hold the ? (MODE) button again to deactivate the key lock.
8.11. Selecting Sound Mode
With the ?️ (EQ) button, you can choose from 7 different sound settings:
- EQ FLAT
- EQ ROCK
- EQ CLSC (CLASSIC)
- EQ POP
- EQ JAZZ
- EQ BASS
- EQ OFF
Alarm Function
The device has two alarm times (AL 1 and AL2), which can be set independently.
9.1. Setting Alarm Time
- With the device switched off, press the AL1 or AL2 button to activate Alarm 1 or Alarm 2.
- Use the ⏩ and ⏪ buttons to set the desired alarm time.
- Press the ⏱️ (TIMER) button once or multiple times and select whether the alarm should regularly start from Monday-Friday, on weekends, or daily. The activated days will be shown in the display.
- Press and hold the ⏱️ (TIMER) button to select a single day. The currently selected day will be displayed. To select another day, press the ⏱️ (TIMER) button again.
- Press the AL1 or AL2 button again and select whether the radio, an audio CD, or signal tones should start at the alarm time. The illustration below shows an activated Alarm 1 in radio mode (1), an activated Alarm 1 with signal tone (2), and an activated Alarm 1 in CD mode (3).

- Press the ? (MODE) button to return to the basic mode.
ℹ️ NOTE: Radio and Audio CD play for 60 minutes, signal tone for 10 minutes.
9.1.1. End of Alarm Time
When the set wake-up time is reached, the radio or audio CD will turn on, or signal tones will sound. Press the AL1 or AL2 button to turn off the alarm.
9.1.2. Switching Off Alarm
Select the alarm you wish to permanently switch off by pressing AL1 or AL2. Press AL1 or AL2 multiple times until the corresponding alarm symbol disappears.
Timer Functions
10.1. Sleep Timer Function (AOT - Automatic OFF Timer)
With the Sleep Timer, the radio operates for a specified period (between 10 and a maximum of 90 minutes) and switches off after the time expires. The activated Sleep Timer is indicated by "AOT" in the display. Press the AOT button. The radio turns on. Press the button multiple times and select the remaining time until the radio switches off.
10.2. Kitchen Timer Function
The device features a timer function that allows you to save up to 6 different kitchen timers. Shortly before and after the set time expires (max. 23 hours, 59 minutes), signal tones will sound. The symbol [Timer symbol] will be displayed when the kitchen timer is active.
10.2.1. Setting Timer Time
- Press the ⏱️ (TIMER) button to set the timer.
- Use the ⏩ and ⏪ buttons to set the alarm time. The countdown time (between 1 minute and 23 hours, 59 minutes) will appear in the display.
- Press the ? (MEM) button to set the memory slot for the timer. The currently selected memory slot blinks (T1 to T6). To select another memory slot, press the PRE+ or PRE- buttons. Pressing the ? (MEM) button again confirms the selected memory slot. The indicator will stop blinking.
- After setting the time, press the ⏱️ (TIMER) button again. The timer starts. If you press the ⏱️ (TIMER) button while the time is counting down, the timer will pause and the time in the display will blink.
ℹ️ NOTE: The timer function can also be used without first setting a memory slot.
10.2.2. End of Timer Time
The end of the timer time will be announced 30 seconds beforehand by signal tones, which then change frequency at the end of the countdown. After the timer time has ended, press the ⏱️ (TIMER) button to switch off the timer function. If the timer function is activated during radio operation, the radio will also be switched off before the timer function ends. NOTE: If you want to switch off the activated timer before the timer time expires, go to timer mode. Press and hold the ⏱️ (TIMER) button for approx. 2 seconds.
Cleaning
Before cleaning, unplug the power adapter from the socket. For cleaning the device and the remote control, use a dry, soft cloth. Avoid chemical solvents and cleaning agents, as they can damage the device's surface and/or labels.
