Oticon CROS Technical Data Sheet
The Oticon CROS is a transmitter for individuals with single-sided deafness.
CROS / BICROS
By establishing a pairing with a compatible hearing aid, the Oticon CROS can be used as an amplification system for Contralateral Routing of Signal (CROS). The CROS transmitter's microphone picks up sound from the ear with poorer hearing. It then sends the sound to the hearing aid worn on the ear with better hearing using near-field magnetic induction (NFMI) communication. If there is hearing loss in the ear with better hearing, BiCROS should be used.
360° Sound Experience, OpenSound Experience
The Oticon CROS is equipped with the special OpenSound Navigator, designed to transmit sound to Oticon hearing aids. This feature analyzes the surrounding sound environment, balances sound, and removes unwanted noise to deliver a 360° soundscape.
TwinLink™ and Dual Streaming
Communication between the transmitter and the receiving hearing aid in the Oticon CROS utilizes Oticon TwinLink technology, which uses NFMI. TwinLink technology delivers sound from the ear with poorer hearing to the ear with better hearing, while also enabling streaming from external audio devices. This is achieved by using 2.4 GHz Bluetooth low energy communication for transmitting audio from external devices, while NFMI is used for the CROS transmission function. This means users can listen to music or watch TV while still being aware of their surroundings.

Diagram Description
The diagram illustrates the CROS system. A transmitter is shown on the left, with a microphone picking up sound. This sound is transmitted wirelessly (NFMI) to a receiving hearing aid on the right. The diagram also shows a simplified representation of a human head with sound waves entering the ear with the transmitter and being directed to the other ear with the hearing aid.
