Product Layout
The RDS-32 series features a user-friendly interface with the following key components:
- A. Navigation keys: [up-arrow] [down-arrow] [left-arrow] [right-arrow] arrow keys surrounding a central Select key [power-toggle].
- B. Indicator light: Flashes for alarm [!] and pulse rate [♩] detection.
- C. Binder connector: With a protective cap [cap-icon], for external probes, cable connections, and external alarming devices.
- D. Charging contacts: [charge] For powering the device.
- E. Fixing lug: [strap-attach] For attaching a wrist strap.
- F. Detector(s): Markings on the sides and back indicate detector positions.
- G. iTx/WR designation: 'iTx' [radio] for versions with internal radio, 'WR' [wide-range] for Wide Range models.
- H. Frame colors: Available in various colors for different models (RDS-32, RDS-32WR, RDS-32iTx, RDS-32iTxWR).
Basic Operation
Powering On/Off
To Power ON: Press and hold the central Select key for two seconds.
To Power OFF: Press the Select key to activate the 'OFF' selection. Press and hold the Select key again for four seconds while the device counts down. If the key is released before the countdown, the device returns to the menu.
Menu Navigation
To Enter Menu: Press the Select key.
To Scroll: Use the [up-arrow] and [down-arrow] keys.
To Enter Menu Section: Press the Select key or the [right-arrow] key.
To Set Value/Select Function/Reset Counter: Press the Select key.
To Return to Higher Level: Press the [left-arrow] key or wait for a 15-second timeout.
Navigation Key Direct Functions (Main Display)
- Backlight: Toggle backlight [light-toggle] ON/OFF.
- Mute/Chirp: Mute/unmute audible chirp [chirp-icon] and key buzzer [buzzer-icon]. In warning conditions [!], acknowledges audio, vibration, and LED signals [✓].
- Dose Check: Check accumulated dose. Press again to check time to dose alarm.
- User Settable Function: A user-configurable key (requires CSW-32 software), not factory set.
Menu Items

| OFF | Switch the meter off. |
| DOSE | Check and reset the current accumulated dose. |
| MaxDR | Check and reset the maximum recorded dose rate since the last reset. |
| CHIRP | Adjust the sensitivity of visual and audible pulse indication or switch them ON/OFF. |
| ALARM | Check and change dose rate and dose alarm levels; choose alarm mode (single, dual, or off). |
| EXT.AL | Check and change external probe alarm levels. Shown only if an external probe is connected. |
| TM.2.AL | Shows the time left to reach the dose alarm at the current dose rate. |
| DIAG | Activate internal diagnostics, check firmware version, and battery capacity. |
| COMM | WRM connection settings, BLE settings. |
| HISTO | Configure histogram data collection or clear saved data. |
| SCALER | Manual save of current readings. |
| PROBE | Set integration time/count, acquire current background, and start net or gross acquisition over time. Shown only if an external probe is connected. Check and change the configuration of the external probe. |

- Alarms: Configurable levels for warning and alarm with audible, visual, and vibration indication.
- Units: Configurable units: Sv(/h), rem(/h), cps, cpm, dpm, Bq, and Bq/cm² (with external detectors).
- Power Supply: 2 x AA (R6) size batteries (alkaline or NiMH).
- Operation Time: Approximately 600 hours with fresh alkaline batteries (background radiation, radios disabled, display backlight off, LED off).
- Real-time Clock: Includes function with 3 hours backup power.

- iTx Versions: Feature internal radio for wireless monitoring.
RDS-32 / RDS-32iTx Specifications
- Detector: Energy compensated GM tube.
- IEC Energy Range: 48 keV to 1.8 MeV.
- Dose Rate Measurement Range: 0.05 μSv/h to 100 mSv/h (5 μrem/h to 10 rem/h).
- IEC Dose Rate Range: 0.3 μSv/h to 100 mSv/h (0.03 mrem/h to 10 rem/h).
- Dose Measurement Range: 0.1 μSv to 10 Sv (0.01 mrem to 1000 rem).
RDS-32WR / RDS-32iTxWR Specifications
- Detector: Energy compensated GM tube, Si diode.
- IEC Energy Range: 55 keV (GM tube) / 65 keV* (Si Diode) to 1.8 MeV.
- Dose Rate Measurement Range: 0.05 μSv/h to 10 Sv/h (5 μrem/h to 1000 rem/h).
- IEC Dose Rate Range: 0.3 μSv/h to 10 Sv/h (0.03 mrem/h to 1000 rem/h).
- Dose Measurement Range: 0.1 μSv to 10 Sv (0.01 mrem to 1000 rem).
- Note: * Transition from GM tube to Si diode occurs at 30 mSv/h in increasing fields, and from Si diode to GM tube at 10 mSv/h in decreasing fields.
