1. Product Overview
Standard Items
The standard items included with the VIOFO A329S Series dashcam are:

Note: The Type-C Data Cable is used for data transfer to computers and smartphones, not for charging the camera.

2. Installation
Insert / Remove the Memory Card
Insert the memory card: Hold the memory card in the orientation shown and slide it into the card slot until you hear a click.
Remove the memory card: Push the edge of the memory card with your fingernail; the card will spring out for removal.
Note: microSD cards are sold separately. Use high-endurance cards up to 512GB. Formatting the card before first use is required (exFAT or FAT32 file system).
Install the SSD (Optional)
Install the SSD:
- Connect the SSD to the dashcam using the VIOFO Type-C SSD cable.
- Secure the SSD in a suitable location inside the car, ensuring it does not obstruct the driver's view.
- Choose to save recorded videos to the SSD immediately or set the file storage location later in the dashcam settings.
Note: Use PSSD (Portable SSD). Format the SSD before first use. The dashcam can store data on either the SSD or microSD card, not both simultaneously. Avoid high-temperature environments for the SSD.
Install the Front Camera
- Select a location on the windshield behind the rear-view mirror, ensuring the camera does not obstruct the driver's view.
- Wipe the installation surface clean and grease-free.
- Mount the dashcam using the sticky pad or attach the static sticker.
- Peel protective films from the sticky pad and camera lens.
- Fix the camera in the selected location.
- Adjust the lens angle by looking at the live view on the LCD.
- Connect to power by inserting the car charger USB cable into the camera mount's Type-C port and plugging the adapter into the vehicle's power socket.
Install the Static Sticker (Optional)
- Wipe the windscreen surface clean.
- Peel the red protective film from the static sticker and attach it to the windscreen, pressing to remove bubbles.
- Peel the green protective film from the static sticker.
- Peel the protective film from the dashcam mount's sticky pad and attach it to the sticker, pressing firmly.
Install the Rear Camera (Optional)
- Select an installation location on the rear windscreen, avoiding defrost grid wires, to capture the entire rear view.
- Wipe the installation surface clean.
- Peel protective films from the sticky pad and camera lens.
- Fix the rear camera in the selected location.
- Power off the dashcam and connect the rear camera cable to the front camera. Cable routing should be as shown in the diagrams.
Install the Infrared Fisheye Cabin Camera (Optional)
- Select a location on the front windscreen to capture the interior view.
- Wipe the installation surface clean.
- Peel protective films from the sticky pad and camera lens.
- Fix the camera in the selected location.
- Power off the front camera and connect the infrared fisheye cabin camera using its cable. Cable routing should be as shown in the diagrams.
Install the Waterproof Rear Camera (Optional)
- Select an installation location on the exterior rear of the vehicle.
- Wipe the installation surface clean.
- Peel the protection film off the camera lens.
- Secure the camera using the 3M adhesive sticker or provided screws.
- Power off the front camera and connect the waterproof rear camera using its cable. Cable routing should be as shown in the diagrams.
Note: The waterproof rear camera cable is compatible with both Rear and Int. ports.
Install the Telephoto Camera (Optional)
- Select a location on the windshield under the rear-view mirror.
- Wipe the installation surface clean.
- Peel the protection film off the sticky pad and camera lens.
- Fix the telephoto camera in the selected location.
- Power off the front camera and connect the telephoto camera using its cable. Cable routing should be as shown in the diagrams.
Note: The telephoto camera must be connected to the Int. port using the 1M telephoto camera cable only.
Remove Cameras
To remove the front camera from its bracket, slide the camera to the right and pull it out.
3. Dash Cam Recording Operation
Initial Setup
Upon first activation, set the language, time zone, and speed unit. The dashcam will automatically set the time and date when a satellite signal is received.
Language Setting: Use the [REC] and [MIC] buttons to select a language and press [OK] to confirm.
Time Zone Setting: Use the [REC] and [MIC] buttons to select a time zone and press [OK] to confirm. Press [Menu] to return to previous settings.
Speed Unit Setting: Use the [REC] and [MIC] buttons to select speed units (MPH/KMH) and press [OK] to confirm.
Format microSD Card: Select [Checkmark] and press [OK] to format the memory card. The camera will restart upon successful formatting.
Format External SSD: If an SSD is connected, choose whether to format it and save videos to it. Formatting is recommended before first use.
Power On / Off
- The camera turns on and records automatically when the engine starts.
- The camera stops recording and turns off when the engine is turned off or the charging cable is unplugged.
- Short press [Menu] to power on; long press [Menu] to power off.
Loop Recording
- Insert a microSD card; loop recording begins automatically when power is detected.
- Video file time frames: 1, 2, 3, 5, or 10 minutes.
- When storage is insufficient, loop recording overwrites the oldest files.
- Loop recording files are saved in: \DCIM\Movie.
Emergency Recording
- Automatic Emergency Recording: When the G-sensor detects a collision, the current footage is locked to prevent overwriting.
- Manual Emergency Recording: Press the [!] button during recording to lock the current file. Locked files are not overwritten by loop recording.
Note: Collision detection sensitivity can be adjusted in settings. Locked files are saved to: DCIM \ Movie \ RO.
Disable / Enable Audio Recording
Press the [MIC] button to turn audio recording on or off. The [MIC] LED will be off or solid blue.
Parking Mode
There are 5 parking modes:
- Hybrid Parking Recording: Combines two parking modes (e.g., Time-lapse 1fps -> Impact). It starts with Time-lapse, Low Bitrate, or Event Detection, then switches to impact detection based on cut-off time or voltage.
- Low Power Impact Detection: The camera enters low-power standby. Upon impact detection, it records for 1 minute (or longer if movement is detected).
- Time Lapse Recording: Records at low frame rates (1/2/3/5/10 fps) continuously without audio. Supports Super Night Vision option.
- Low Bitrate Recording: Uses low bitrate for continuous recording with small file sizes.
- Auto Event Detection: Records a video sequence when a moving object is detected during parking and stops when no new movement occurs.
Notes on Parking Mode: Parking files are stored on the microSD card. Cut-off Voltage is available with the VIOFO HK6 ACC hardwire kit. For hot weather parking, Time Lapse mode is recommended. Avoid operating above 60°C.
4. Video Playback and Management
Video Playback on Dashcam
- In standby mode, long press [Menu] to enter the playlist.
- Use arrow buttons [REC] / [MIC] to select a video and press [OK] to play.
- Press [Menu] to exit.
Video Playback on VIOFO APP
Enable Wi-Fi on the dashcam and connect your smartphone via the VIOFO app. The app allows full camera control, live preview, playback, and file management. Refer to Section 5 for details.
Video Playback on VIOFO Player
Via Memory Card: Remove the memory card (after powering off the dashcam), insert it into a card reader connected to your PC, and open VIOFO Player to add videos from the DCIM folder for playback. Download VIOFO Player from viofo.com.
Via External SSD: Remove the SSD, connect it to your PC using the Type-C Data Cable, and open VIOFO Player to add videos from the DCIM folder for playback.

File Format Definition: Files are saved separately for front and rear cameras. Format: YYYYMMDD HHMMSS SequenceNumber [P/F/R/I/T/1R/2R]. 'P' indicates parking mode video.
5. Review and Control on Smartphone
Connect to Smartphone
The VIOFO app enables smartphone control within a 10M range, offering full camera control, live preview, playback, and recording.
Download VIOFO APP
Download the app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
Connect VIOFO APP
- Turn on Wi-Fi in the menu or long press the [Wi-Fi] button. Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password will appear on the camera screen.
- Connect your phone to the dashcam's Wi-Fi. The camera's LED will show solid blue.
- Open the VIOFO app and select "Connect Camera" to control the dashcam.
- You can view live feeds from cameras, change settings, and check files via the app.
APP Layout Overview
The app interface allows control over various functions including Menu, Home Page, Downloaded Video, Official Support, Firmware Update, Live Video Feeds (Rear, Interior, Front), Audio Status, Camera Source Switching, Video Snapshot, File Lists, Start/Stop Recording, Dashcam Settings, Select All/Deselect All, Download Video Files, and Delete Video Files.
6. Install Accessories
Install CPL on Front Camera
The CPL (Circular Polarizing Lens) reduces reflections and glare for improved image quality. Align the white mark on the CPL with the corresponding mark on the camera during installation.
Install CPL on Rear Camera (Optional)
Follow the diagrams to install the CPL on the rear camera.
Install CPL on Telephoto Camera (Optional)
Follow the diagrams to install the CPL on the telephoto camera.
Install Bluetooth Remote Control (Optional)
The Bluetooth Remote Control allows locking videos, toggling Wi-Fi, enabling/disabling HDR, and other functions without diverting attention. To pair, power on the camera and press and hold the video lock button on the remote for 3 seconds. A successful pairing is indicated by a blue LED on the remote.
7. Dashcam Settings
Video Settings
- Resolution: Supports 1, 2, and 3 channel recording with various resolutions and frame rates (e.g., 4K 60fps, 4K 21:9 60fps, 2K 60fps, 1080P30). Note that 4K 60fps is available only when HDR is disabled.
- HDR: Can be set to Off, On, or Auto for each camera. It balances lighting for better exposure.
- Video Bitrate: Options include Low, Normal, High, and Maximum. Higher bitrate improves quality but reduces recording time.
- Loop Recording: Set recording intervals to 1, 2, 3, 5, or 10 minutes.
- Record Audio: Turn the microphone on or off using the [MIC] button.
- Exposure Value (EV): Adjust EV from -2.0 to +2.0 for better footage in different lighting conditions.
- G-Sensor: Measures shock forces to lock files. Setting from "low to high" determines the force needed. Low sensitivity is recommended.
- Stamp: Imprint information like Date, GPS Speed, GPS Coordinates, Custom Text, License Plate, Logo, Brand Model, Resolution, and Stamp Text Color onto the video.
- Time-lapse Recording: Records at low frame rates to conserve memory.
- Interior Cam Fisheye Mode: Enable/disable fisheye view for interior cameras (available on fisheye cabin camera editions).
- IR LED: Control infrared lights for night vision (On, Off, Auto). Available on fisheye cabin camera editions.
- Parking Recording: Configure Vehicle Battery Protection (Cut-off Time, Cut-off Voltage), Parking Mode types (Hybrid, Low Power Impact Detection, Time Lapse, Low Bitrate, Auto Event Detection), Enter Parking Mode Timer, Parking G-sensor sensitivity, Parking Motion Detection sensitivity, Parking GPS, Parking HDR, and Parking Files Storage (MicroSD Card / External SSD).
System Settings
- Wi-Fi: Off, 2.4GHz, or 5GHz. Long press [Wi-Fi] button to enable quickly. 5GHz is recommended.
- Bluetooth Button Function: Customize functions for the Bluetooth remote control (e.g., Turn On/Off Microphone, Take Photo, Turn On/Off WiFi, Power Off, Switch to Timelapse, Turn On/Off HDR, Parking Mode).
- Time Zone: Set for GPS time and date calibration. Manual adjustment may be needed for daylight savings.
- Time Format: 24H or 12H.
- Daylight Saving: Set US daylight saving on or off.
- Date/Time: Set system date and time.
- Boot Delay: Set delay for camera boot-up (Off, 5 Seconds, 10 Seconds).
- LED: Control front, rear, telephoto, and interior LEDs (All Off, All On, Power LED Only).
- Parking Mode LED: Control LEDs specifically for parking mode.
- Manage SSD Storage: Backup MicroSD card files to SSD or delete external SSD files.
- Video Storage: Choose between MicroSD Card and External SSD.
- Beep Sound: Enable/disable button and startup sounds.
- Voice Notification: Turn voice notifications on or off.
- Voice Notification Volume: Adjust volume (Low, Medium, High).
- Voice Control: Turn voice control on or off. Use spoken commands to operate the camera. Note: Voice command language should be consistent with the dashcam system language (English, Chinese, Russian, Japanese). English is required for other languages.
- Voice Command: List of available voice commands (e.g., Take Photo, Turn On Audio, Show Front Camera).
- GPS: Turn GPS logger on or off. GPS data includes location and speed. Use "VIOFO Player" to visualize data.
- Speed Units: Set to KMH or MPH.
- Screen Saver: Adjust screen timeout.
- Frequency: Set to minimize flickering and banding in video.
- Language: Select display language.
- Format: MicroSD Card / External SSD: Delete all data from storage devices. Backup data before formatting.
- Format Reminder: Set reminders for formatting the memory card.
- Default Setting: Restore device to factory settings.
- Version: Check the current firmware version.
8. Firmware Upgrade
Follow instructions at viofo.com to upgrade the firmware. Ensure the microSD card is formatted before upgrading. Do not unplug or power off the camera during the upgrade process.
9. Notice
FCC Statement
This equipment complies with FCC Part 15 limits for Class B digital devices, designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in residential installations. It generates, uses, and radiates radio frequency energy. If interference occurs, users are encouraged to reorient the antenna, increase separation between equipment and receiver, connect to a different circuit, or consult a technician.
Caution
Unauthorized modifications may void the user's authority to operate the equipment. The device complies with FCC rules and radiation exposure limits. It should be installed and operated with at least 20cm distance from the body. Shenzhen VIOFO Technology Co., Ltd. declares compliance with Directive 2014/53/EU.
