Enerlites MPW-L Occupancy Sensor Installation Guide
Model: MPW-L
Brand: Enerlites
Product Overview
The Enerlites MPW-L is a 150° Passive Infrared (PIR) Low Voltage Occupancy Sensor designed to automate lighting control based on occupancy and ambient light levels. Its features include automatic light activation upon detecting motion and deactivation after a set period of inactivity. The integrated light level sensor prevents lights from turning on when sufficient ambient light is present.
This sensor operates on 24V DC, typically supplied by the Enerlites MPP-24 Power Pack (sold separately).
Coverage
The MPW-L offers a wide 150° coverage pattern, providing approximately 900 square feet of detection area when mounted at a height of 10 feet. Coverage may be reduced in environments with obstacles or lower activity levels.

Installation Instructions
⚠️ WARNING: Ensure power is completely ⚡ OFF at the circuit breaker before beginning installation. Read and understand all instructions. Installation should comply with the National Electric Code and local regulations. It is recommended that a qualified electrician performs this installation. Use copper wire only.
Wiring and Mounting Steps:
- Turn OFF power at the circuit breaker.
- Wire the device according to the diagram: Connect the Black lead to 'Common', the Red lead to '+24V', and the Blue lead to 'Control Out'.
Wiring Diagram Description: A diagram shows the connections for the MPW-L sensor to the MPP-24 Power Pack. The Black wire connects to 'Common', the Red wire to '+24V', and the Blue wire to 'Control Out'. - Mount the device to walls or ceilings.
- Gently position wires into the wall or octagon box.
- Attach the sensor switch to the box and secure it to the wall/ceiling with two screws.
- Attach the sensor switch to the mounting yoke, passing wires through the central hole, and fix the yoke to the wall/ceiling.
- Restore power at the circuit breaker. Wait approximately one minute for the device to initialize.
- Remove the small cover plate on the sensor.
- Locate the adjustment knobs on the control panel to perform test and adjustment procedures. (Refer to Settings Adjustment section).
- Replace the small cover plate after completing testing and adjustments.

Settings Adjustment
The sensor features adjustable settings accessible via control knobs on the panel.
- TIME Adjustment Trimpot:
- Default Position: Position 1 (Test Mode)
- Adjustable Range: 5 seconds to 30 minutes (clockwise adjustment)
- PIR Adjustment Knob:
- Default Position: Center
- Note: Adjust clockwise to increase detection range (greater room space). Adjust counter-clockwise to reduce sensitivity and avoid false alerts in smaller rooms or near heat sources.
- Ambient Light Level Adjustment Trimpot:
- Default Position: Position 4 (Daylight, 100% ambient light sensitivity)
- Adjustable Range: Clockwise adjustment
Adjustment Dials Description: The TIME adjustment dial allows setting the delay from 5 seconds to 30 minutes. The RANGE dial likely adjusts sensitivity or coverage area. The LIGHT dial adjusts the ambient light threshold for activation.
Operation
The sensor operates exclusively in Occupancy Mode.
Automatic Load Control:
- Upon power restoration, the connected load (lights) will turn ON based on the configured occupancy and time delay settings.
- The sensor maintains the load ON as long as motion is detected.
- Once no motion is detected for the duration of the set time delay, the load will automatically turn OFF.
- The load can be turned ON again by detecting occupancy or via a manual switch activation.
Troubleshooting
⚠️ WARNING: Always turn OFF power at the circuit breaker before performing any troubleshooting or installation steps.
Issue: Lights do not turn on with occupancy.
Condition: PIR Activity LED does not flash.
- Note: A warm-up period of up to 1 minute may occur after initial power application before the LED becomes active.
- Verify that the circuit breaker or any connected wall switch is turned ON.
- Ensure the PIR Sensitivity is set appropriately (e.g., to a higher setting if needed).
- Confirm that all wiring connections are correct and secure.
Condition: PIR Activity LED flashes.
- If the Ambient Light Level adjustment is set to its minimum (Position 1), the lights may remain OFF due to sufficient ambient light. To test this, cover the PIR lens and LED with your hand. If the lights turn ON, the Light Level setting is preventing activation. Readjust the 'Ambient Light Level Adjustment Trimpot'.
- Confirm that all wiring connections are correct and secure.
Issue: Lights do not turn off automatically.
- The sensor might be detecting activity from outside the intended controlled area or experiencing interference. Refer to "Unwanted Sensor Activations" (details not provided in this document excerpt).
- Confirm that all wiring connections are correct and secure.
